Shan Reviews! Mini Movie Reviews!

So I've done these before, if you haven't read them, its just reviews of movies that are on netflix, on demand or just older movies that you might have seen, but you might not... and you might be looking for something new to watch on Netflix or whatever, so here are just my opinions.

1) Bad Milo- This movie is about a man that has a polyp in his butt due to stress and the polyp becomes a monster that kills anyone that is stressing him out. I was super excited for this because it stars Ken Marino -who is awesome and funny-and Gillian Jacobs- who is awesome and funny and from Community. It was produced by the Duplass brothers who are also two of my favorite people so that just creates an awesome sandwich and this movie DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was really funny to me at least... idk if its for everyone but I love a good horror comedy and this one was amazing. I'm kind of obsessed with bad movies and it seems like the writer and director of this movie was too... there were a lot of lines straight out of bad horror movies. It was definitely done on purpose too... it was just awesome. If you love good movies about bad movies, you will like this a lot. Also the butt monster was both disgusting and adorable at the same time... it looked like a movie monster from the 80s and they did a really fantastic job with it. SEE IT!

2) Nick Thune: Folk Hero- I had seen Nick Thune on @ Midnight and I thought he was funny and kind of cute... so I decided to watch the special and I still think he's funny and kinda cute. His jokes were very similar to Demetri Martin's, so if you like Demetri Martin you'll love Nick Thune. It was good. It wasn't quite as funny as Demetri Martin and it's not really the funniest comedy special on Netflix... but it's good. If you like Demetri Martin, you'll like it! see it (I wrote that in small letters because its not overwhelmingly funny, it is really good though.)

3) Tyler Perry's Temptation: confessions of a marriage councelor- Horrible movie. It is actually super offensive to women, it's written horribly, sends all kinds of mixed messages to women and
people with STDs, and the acting is quite awful as well. It's written so bad that at one point Judith, the main character says that she's known her husband for 19 years and then the guy that wants to bone
her says "oh so you're either an Old-looking young woman, or you met him when you were 5." He meant to say young looking old woman. Old looking young woman makes no sense in the context of the conversation, and it's also a straight up insult and you shouldn't sleep with someone that tells you that... And no woman ever would . I just think that somewhere during the line of production, they would have realized the mistake and fixed it, but nope. They left it in there.

I know a little bit about screenwriting, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to this stuff... But I mean come on,anyone could notice a mistake like that. I'd only say to see it if you like bad movies and you like pointing out what's wrong with them for your own sadistic enjoyment... Or if you can't believe a movie could be this bad on all levels. Other than that Avoid at ALL COSTS! It is slightly entertaining, but it's just really bad overall and I don't think an affair would happen like that. It also started super slow and then they rushed the ending really fast... I really don't like when movies do that and just about every bad movie does.

5) The Dictator- funny movie. There isn't really much of a "plot" to this movie, but Sasha Bron Cohen, Jason Mantzoukas, and Anna Faris are all hilarious. Also Kathryn Hahn has a small cameo in it, which is pretty awesome. Kind of wish Adam Scott had been in it too somehow but that's okay, it's not the funniest movie, but it is funny and fun to watch. See it!

6) Seeking a friend for the end of the world- I had seen. the end of this movie and I didn't really like it. I was kind of half watching and I missed most of it still, but it was kind of cute. Steve Carell and Keira Knightly didn't really have much chemistry, but that didn't stop the film from being charming. I actually liked it quite a bit. I might have to rewatch this. I also think it has a good
soundtrack so I'm saying See it, but if you are half watching it, you probably don't need to pay too too much attention to it. Idk I thought it was pretty cute.

7)Amy Schumer: Mostly Sex Stuff-  this is technically not my first time watching it... But I really
love Amy. She's one of the funniest comedians out there right now. Her show I've only seen an episode of, but all the commercials make me laugh. I wish I was ballsy enough to just put all my personal stuff on the table the way she does. And I mean, who doesn't laugh at fisting jokes? Sex will never not be funny... So the title alone says it all. See it!

8) Chris Hardwick: Mandroid- Can you sense a theme here with all the standup? I love hi. On @midnight and sometimes, it's just nice to see other nerds doing standup. He's just really funny, tells a lot of nerdy jokes and jokes about nerds? His idea of a sport is Quidditch. It's awesome he also has a joke about fingering... Which is also super funny for reasons I have previously stated. See it!

9) For A Good Time Call...- this movie came out recently and I sort of wanted to see it but I thought
it looked stupid at the same time. It's about two girls that become roommates and they hate each other at first but then they start operating a phone sex line and they become good friends. I actually really liked this movie. I thought its a realistic friendship between girls in their twenties and it's just super cute. The two main characters are also adorable, Lauren is played by Lauren Miller who wrote the movie and is also Mrs.Seth Rogen! Their dog was in it too and a lot of  really funny celebrities made cameos, Seth Rogen, Nia Vardalos (who I love!), Ken Marino, Kavin Smith and Justin Long was in it as eir gay best friend. Also Seth and Lauren's dog The Legend of Zelda Miller Rogen was in it. So cute !

10) Ass Backwards- I've also been super into female friendship movies about adults who aren't really grown ups yet, so this was right up my alley. I love June Diane rapheal and Casey Wilson, so I thought this movie would be good and it was!!! Super funny, not the most realistic of movies but the concept alone is super great. These two dummies try to compete in a beauty pageant reunion contest
after not being in a beauty pageant since they were kids. It's also a parody of a road trip movie... It's just really fun to watch. See it!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
