This is the best non cartoon movie of the year... I wrote that it was the best movie of the year but that was before Onward... but it was a great movie. I would give it 4 stars I think. I'm not sure if this is a movie everyone would enjoy- I know a lot of people can't really do horror movies and this movie is about kind of a heavy subject matter that might be hard for people to watch. It is about Domestic Abuse and even though it's presented in a fantastical way- it is still a hard thing to watch physical and emotional abuse quite like this. And it is a really serious problem that a lot of women face... and while I did see the trailer and that made it very obvious... but if you just saw the TV commercials for it or heard that there was an Invisible Man reboot coming out- I don't think it's quite as obvious that it's about domestic abuse. This week I mostly have reviews... but I do have a few older Halloween related news stories... so I'll post that for the news section and I'll save my movie reviews for the end! First off- Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party opened in Walt Disney World and they have a new fireworks show that looks pretty fun! They have a puppet of Jack Skellington narrating the extravaganza and then a really cute Halloween Disney Short Projected onto the castle, which is really cool. It seems like a super cute and fun event. They are also offering a season pass if you're looking to go multiple nights of the parade- so that is really cool! Speaking of Halloween at the Theme Parks, Universal is also getting ready for their Halloween Horror Nights. They have some original houses this year- Depths of Fear (water themed), Graveyard Games (teens awaken some scary spirits), Nightingales Blood Pit (gladiator themed) and the Yeti themed Yeti Terror of The Yukon.... so those all sound excit...

Alright guys! Basically I had a little round up of reviews I wanted to do of some horror things... nothing is super recent or super relevant- but I wanted to put it all into one little blog post here... so here we go! First off I'll start with what I think is the biggest and most surprising news: Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness was announced in Marvel Phase 5 and it is going to be the first Marvel Horror Movie! My favorite thing about the MCU is that they are always playing with the genres of their movies. Captain America movies are War Movies, Spider Man is High School comedies, Ant Man Comedy Heist, Guardians are Sci Fi Comedies, Thor and Doctor Strange were Fantasy... it's just kind of interesting that their next genre is horror. It makes things very layered and more interesting. I like it a lot! Next news... Happy October everyone! This month will probably be a lot of Spooky posts and some "birthday" Posts because it is my birthday on the 16th. I watched it in the daytime and while I found the stories about the characters compelling and Tim Curry is wonderful in everything that he does... I finally got around to watching the movie Split by M. Night Shyamalan. I've been wanting to watch this for a while... but right now I've been really into suspenseful movies... in fact- I might just end up watching a lot of horror movies or something and reviewing them here... so let me know if you want some more reviews like this. And I'm going to kind of roast this movie a little for the complaints I have about it... but then I'm going to talk about what I liked about it because it was a genuinely good movie and I liked it a lot.  It starts out slowly and weirdly... maybe it's just because Social Media wasn't that big of a thing when I was in high school and I never really cared about being invited to parties with people I didn't actually like... but it starts out with the 2 "Popular girls" Claire and Marcia saying that they didn't want to invite the "outsider" Casey to their party... and it just seemed weird. So since it's Friday the 13th... I thought I'd try talking about every scary movie I've seen and... we'll just see if I can remember the plot exactly and if they're good or bad. I like scary movies... but I don't see them that often and I don't totally remember the plot of all of them. Let's start out with the first one that I ever saw! The House on Haunted Hill (1999)  I saw this when I was pretty young... I was maybe 10 or younger when I saw this one... and honestly... It is a really scary movie for a 10-ish year old... and there was a lot of mature content that went over my head at the time... and I was kind of a scaredy cat as a kid... but this didn't really give me nightmares. I think it's mainly because there were really only 2 likable characters in the bunch and those 2 ended up making it to the end of the movie... so that was pretty good. I didn't know the cast of the movie at the time... but now looking at the cast list- I want ...

Happy Halloween! Here we go with the Chart Chat... which I'm moving to Tuesday for the next few weeks! 10) It- Surprised this is on the bottom of the charts... but it still seems to be going strong for halloween! I didn't see Pennywise when I went out... I saw a couple of Twisty's though... which is strange. One Bar had a drawing of Pennywise on the menu... but I didn't see anyone dressed up as Pennywise. Just as well... that's a little too scary! 9) Suburbicon- This looks good... but I'm not too fond of Matt Damon or George Clooney right now... who knows though- they are good actors... but I can't see how something has been going on for years and they are "so shocked" about it... that's just me... but you know... this sucks lol. This hasn't gotten great reviews from what I've heard- so I think I'd rather hold out for Murder on the Orient Express for my Murder Mystery needs... but this looks good. 8) The Foreigner- I talked ab...

10) Kingsman: The Golden Circle- I would imagine this movie is ending it's run on the charts shortly if not by next week. I feel like there are SOOOO many great horror movies out this year that it's hard to choose this one above those movies at this time of year... but Colin Firth... so yeah. 9) American Made-  Again... I was a little surprised this never got to the top of the charts... but I'm surprised to see it on the charts for so long. I don't know too much about this movie other than Tom Cruise, Jayma Mays and the bad guy from the last year of Breaking Bad... but yeah. Again... probably wouldn't recommend this over It or Happy Death Day if you want to see a movie coming soon... but maybe this is good. 8) The Snowman- This is a horror movie that looks pretty good. Alright... you can probably tell what the number 1 movie is already... but let's start with 10 anyway because who doesn't love a countdown? 10) Mother!- Probably the end of it's week on the charts... one of the worst reviewed movies of the year which is also said to be one of the most disturbing movies of the year... and while people are comparing it to Rosemary's Baby... I think it's a lot different than that and people aren't liking it very much... so if you want to catch Mother! Catch it soon in theaters... but something's telling me you can skip this one. Not much surprise here... but let's keep on going! 10) Dunkirk-  9 weeks on the top ten isn't too bad! I think this is going out of theaters and onto DVD and streaming services pretty soon... so I'm excited for that. I've talked about this movie for the past nine weeks... so you know my feelings. I'm going to watch it eventually... but yeah! 9) Spider Man: Homecoming-  Again... I've talked about this movie for the last 11 weeks... so you should know how I feel about this as well. I don't know many other people that really do and it's expensive and time consuming... so it kinda is what it is... but yeah- Spider Man is great and I like it! The Monster Mash, The Time Warp,  and Werewolves of London are probably my favorites. I thought this would be kind of fun to do for halloween. I haven't seen a lot of the popular horror movies... but I've seen a few, so I thought I'd post a little about horror movies and thrillers that I remember seeing and liking. So yeah! The House on Haunted Hill (remake)  Fun fact: This was the first R rated movie I ever saw all of. It's a pretty scary one too... if I remember right, only 2 people survive... there's a lot of other weird stuff that makes it R rated that sort of went over my head as a kid... so this isn't exactly the best first r rated movie to watch... but it is a little more exciting than it is scary. This is something I saw on netflix that I thought was going to be really funny but also kind of scary. Its a horror anthology where each holiday had a different short horror movie about it. I was intrigued because I love a good horror comedy and I thought this would fall more under that genre... but it is basically 8 slasher movies. They were all definitely horror movies. Most had some funny elements... but any satire in there was definitely horror related. Since this is an anthology, I'll have little spoiler-free mini reviews on each movie. Valentine's Day  This one I really liked. I didn't like it as much as the other ones after I started watching them. It was predictable... I knew exactly what was going to happen. I thought it was well written and directed though, there were a lot of good shots... it sort of seemed like a minimalist type of thing... so that was cool. I liked that a lot. The mean girl in the movie said something that I would think of as unforgivable......

So this was on ABC Family recently and I decided to DVR it and watch it so that I could go past the commercials and stuff. I had always been too afraid to watch this movie... but it was on ABC Family in the daytime on Halloween... so I didn't think I'd be too scared. For reference, I'm more afraid of the "Poltergeist Curse" than the actual movie. Apparently like everyone in this movie died... Idk if EVERYONE really died, but a lot of them died... but Craig T. Nelson didn't and he's Mr. Incredible... so knock on wood, everything is ok with the Coach... and yeah. I'm about 21 minutes in (with commercials) and nothing's happened yet... so yeah. The bird died, which is something interesting and based on true experiences with these. I'm a little skeptical... but I think there's something out there and it could be real... but yeah. The little girl is creepy and stuff but nothing super scary has happened yet... so there's that. I'm 5...

So I used to do a lot of Mini Movie reviews when I was in college... but I haven't really been watching any older movies since I've been out of college so... yeah. I also decided I wanted to watch a horror movie tonight and can't choose what I want to watch... I want something kinda funny so I'm between Scream and Tusk... and tonight I think I'm gonna go with Scream... I've never seen this movie and why not watch it now? Scream  This movie is brilliant. Its kind of poking fun at itself and scary movies. Its very meta and tells you all the rules of scary movies, explains how they work and everything and breaks them at the same time! Its pretty cool! It was a lot like watching a long episode of Community. It was kind of exactly like Community, they should get Dan Harmon to write the next one. And its actually really scary and suspenseful too! So I just finished the book Horns yesterday and I decided to watch the movie a little after. And... I can recommend the book... but not so much the movie. Lol. It wasn't bad, if I hadn't read the book I would think "ohhh this is okay." But I did read it and it wasn't. They changed everything important from the book. The book uses a lot of time jumps as a way to show the background of each character and you really understand why they do the things they do. Its a big book, everything is explained in great detail and it all makes sense. We see flashbacks of Lee and Ig as kids and see how Lee talks about women. He talks about wanting girls to be "cherry" and virginal or innocent looking. It shows that he is insane and that yeah he killed Merrin. Also in the book Merrin's sister dies of cancer and she is really awful to Merrin and her father and said unforgivable things. Merrin didn't want to be like that and she didn't want to put Ig through th...

So I haven't seen a whole lot of Horror movies, but I feel like I've seen enough to know what is good and what is bad... so I'll share it with you. Sleepaway Camp- This is my favorite horror movie ever... if not one of my favorite movies ever. It is insanely bonkers with the best twist ending ever pretty much. It's wayyyy out of left field... I mean there are clues if you watch it a second time... but holy shit. This movie is fantastic and I highly HIGHLY recommend it. Shutter- This one is a weird one. I saw it so long ago, but it kind of sticks out in my mind. It's definitely worth a watch, Joshua Jackson is really hot but he is incredibly creepy in this movie. And he's kind of not exactly the worse villain in the world. The Grudge- I like Sarah Michelle Gellar and this wasn't a bad movie... but it didn't scare me all that much.
