Scribbles About Food: Shannon Eats Steak! Moonstruck!

So... this might seem like a big deal... but I haven't eaten steak in a really long time. My parents LOVE steak and they gave it to me so often as a kid I just got tired of it... and I've only had it a few times in the past... 15 years maybe? I've had Chicken fried steak- which is really good. My dad got a hibachi recently and made hibachi steak that I liked. My friend's fiance made some steak kabobs recently also... and I liked that... so I just kind of wanted to venture into eating steak again because I'm getting a little tired of chicken. And there's a really good restaurant in Asbury called Moonstruck... and I thought that would be a good time to try some. My parents really love their steak- I love their food and I've realized this is a good place to try new things... so I got it... and I'll review the appetizer and dessert I had also! Appetizer  We always pretty much order the same appetizers... this time we only ordered the one appetizer whic...

Scribbles About Food: Pop's Garage

So this is a long overdue post! I went to Pops garage a couple of times... once I had Quesadillas and they were delicious... this time I got a Chimichanga and it was Cinco de Mayo (actually Cinco de Quatro, but you know I'm secretly Lucielle Bluth so it's all the same. Lol.) so of corse I got a Margarita! Let's get right into it! I'm going to start off with the Chips and Guac. I don't have a picture of these... but it was really good. It wasn't too spicy, it was flavorful and fresh and it just tasted really yummy. They didn't give a ton and there weren't too many chips with it either... but it was still enough to share. I was in a group with 5 girls and we were all getting big dinners too... so we were hungry, but we needed room for dinner and our desserts... so yeah. It was plenty lol. The chips were good too... they were thick and not too salty. Next up: My Margarita!!! I got the Island Margarita because it sounded coconutty and that's what I w...

Scribbles About Food: Starbucks Caramel Expresso Granita

So this is kind of a weird thing to review. The first sip I was like "Weird... this is gross I don't like it." But I mixed it around a little bit and I was like "This is amazing. I love it! Its delicious and so different." So... there you go lol. Its like shaved ice in a coffee... so its a weird sort of texture and its like you're getting something a little different with every sip. It was pretty yummy when it was mixed a little bit. I think I needed mine mixed a little because it wasn't all that sweet... but when it was mixed around... it was good. So I don't know if these are something you can only get at 3pm or after... or if you could ask for it during the day and see if you get it. I don't typically get Starbucks after 3pm... so it might take a while for me to get this again or to get another flavor... but I really like it. Its also good if you don't want caffeine or if you don't want caffeine after 3pm... they have fruit flavore...

Scribbles About Life: I Won a Radio Contest

So a couple days ago I actually won a radio contest! I know its nothing that unusual or special... but it was the first radio contest I won! And I was happy with it. The prize was a chocolate bunny filled with butter cookies from a local chocolate shop... that I've actually won something from before at a gift auction... I have good luck with things... Maybe I'll talk about that too. So the question was one I knew right away because it was an english related question. Which author was born on the same day as a Hailey's Comet and died 2 days after a Hailey's Comet... do you know... I'll wait for you to guess... Mark Twain! It's Mark Twain lol. So I knew it right away and I was like "should I call? I kinda want those cookies and chocolate..." And so I did call and the woman was really nice. I thought I was going to be nervous and sound stupid, but people on the radio are very nice and friendly... and she really was. She had to ask for my birthday and ...

Scribbles About Food: Ice Cream and Gloria Jeans

This is kind of random... but I wanted to do a Scribble About food and I wanted to include some Ice Cream flavors/brands that are new to me and I tried something at Gloria Jeans that I think is limited edition and I wanted to include it here... so I'm gonna start with that. Caramel Coconut Macadamia Nut Chiller from Gloria Jeans  Not sure how readily available Gloria Jeans is, but if you can find one stop there because pretty much everything is good... and this is particularly amazing. For some reason I'm not sure if this has coconut in it or not... I feel like there was... it was good. It was like the Caramel Coco Cluster from Starbucks, but not with mocha. They put a lot of caramel in mine and it was really really good. Yuengling Root Beer Float Ice Cream  So there's been a craze around here of a brand of beer called "Not Your Fathers Root Beer" and as of now I have yet to try that... I will do a scribble about food of that once I try it. I have a 6 pack...

Scribbles about Food: Foods I wish they would bring back!

1) Hood Sugar Cookie and Gingerbread Egg Nog- The sugar cookie egg nog was my absolute favorite... I could not find it anywhere this year and it is horrible! They need to make both of these flavors again! They have pumpkin flavor and their regular egg nog and "golden" egg nog is good... but nothing is as good as the Sugar Cookie flavor! I'm really upset about this, if you work for Hood, please make this nog again. It is the best thing that exists... maybe it does still exist and I just can't find it anywhere... but it needs to be in every grocery store ever. 2) String Thing- I feel like these were made of aliens and the Men in Black needed to wipe everyone's memories of this snack because no one knows what the hell I'm talking about when I mention String Thing. They look blankly, and say "you mean fruit roll ups? You mean fruit by the foot?" No I mean STRING THING! Ughhhh! So annoying. This was really good. I don't know what happened to it! Mig...

Scribbles about Food: Review of Dunkin Donuts Cronuts

Heyyyyy everyone, I like to eat things and I happen to love all the limited edition types of things that they have at dunkin donuts and the like. This month they came up with a croissant donut aka a cronut. This was something I was skeptical about when I first heard about it. I didn't think the combo would work together... But after tasting the Crumbs "Crumb-nuts" I was converted. It's just such a light and fluffy delicious treat and I totally fell in love. I didn't think that the cronut would be sweet enough for my liking. I thought it would be a lot more like a croissant than a donut. With the crumbs cronut... Which you can't get anymore anyway... It was very sweet and flaky but not the type of flaky I expected. I thought it would be more crusty type of flaky like Baklava or like a regular croissant but it's actually very bready and doughy. Because it is Dunkin Donuts it is much more like a donut than a croissant. If you like glazed donuts,  you will...

Does Anyone Remember Snapple Pie?

Ahhhh Snapple Pie. The best flavor of Snapple that has ever existed. This drink was limited edition and  honestly the fact that it doesn't exist anymore bothers me wayyy to much. I think about this quite a lot, especially around Thanksgiving... and I friggin wish that Snapple would bring it back.  What is Snapple Pie you may ask? It's a limited edition flavor of snapple that tasted like pie flavors. I think they only had an Apple Pie one and a Mixed Berry one. The Berry one tasted like soap, but the Apple Pie one was amazing. Like you could actually taste Apple Pie just by drinking it and it was wonderful. It seems like it would be weird, but for some reason I really loved the flavor because it was very intense. You could taste the different textures and the crust. It was a really layered flavor like a fine wine, except it was cheap and you can buy it at the grocery store and it had no alcohol in it.  Now the sad thing is, I tell myself every year "Snapple will com...
