Scribbles About Music: Taylor Swift Ready For It

So... I feel like this is slowly becoming a Taylor Swift blog... Lol... It probably isn't... but she just dropped a new single and... now I'm interested in this album... so I'm reviewing it here. PS- Is she dropping a single every week now? Or every other week?  I'll check back on that and maybe I'll review some together... I really want to give fair time to all the new tv shows and even the returning ones coming this month and the next few months really... so yeah! Anyhoo- back to the song... it's kind of a rap song for taylor... and it's kind of sexy- kind of a fantasy type of thing... It reminded me of Wildest Dreams- which is what it's being compared to. I also thought that maybe the rapping thing was maybe a jab at Kanye... because Kanye is a rapper... I really thought that this whole song was about Kanye and that Taylor was kind of playing the character he portrayed her as in his song "Famous" because she mentions that she was a ...

Scribbles About Music: One Hit Wonders: Good AND Bad

I've had Tubthumping by Chumbawamba stuck in my head... on and off the past couple of days... so let's explore some One Hit Wonders! Now... if you didn't know what a "One Hit Wonder" is... it's a band that had one song that you heard all the time... and then you never really heard from the singer or the band again. Some of my favorite songs are one hit wonders... and I literally do not know anything else from the bands... maybe they broke up shortly after or... something happened where they just weren't hits other than that one song you knew. So... I'm not really going to do a whole good or bad list... I'm just going to listen to some one hit wonder playlists and then rank it good or bad... but I'm obviously going to start with the one in my head right now. 1. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba- This is bad... it's the easiest song to get stuck in your head because the song basically repeats the same lyrics over and over again. There's a ...

Scribbles About Music: Ed Sheeran Divide Review

This is the cd I've been listening to kind of Non-Stop as of recently. Yep... I capitalize Non Stop now because of Hamilton apparently... we're just going to move passed that and get onto the Ed Sheeran review. This is really good. You know how you can tell I really love it? It's not Hamilton, it's not a musical and I'm still listening to it... and I said "it's better than Joanne by Lady Gaga." GASP! It might just be because I have a massive crush on Ed Sheeran... especially after listening to this album... but yeah. So there are lots of really sad songs on this that could make you cry. Castle on The Hill can get you kind of emotional, Happier is one I think I'd cry to on a bad day... Supermarket Flowers makes me want to cry every time listening to it and the very last song on the cd is Save Myself... which is just the kicker. I mean this in a good way... obviously I like them. It's nice to have some really emotional songs on a cd along wit...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition XO by Fall Out Boy (From Under The Cork Tree)

Happy New Year! 2017 is going to be great! I've got a lot of stuff planned... some things already written and its going to be fun! I'm excited! So we'll start the New Year with the last Scribbles About Music Throwback Thursday Edition... for a while at least and that is XO by Fall Out Boy! The last song on From Under The Cork Tree, and one of my favorites! This is almost a little like the "dark and scary" songs that I usually like. In fact, I think during one of their concerts they played either this or I Slept With Someone in FOB and they had a video on a projection of centipedes and gross things... really not sure which one it was right now... but it freaked me out a little, but it was fitting! This is another one I'm kind of pausing to listen to the whole song while I'm writing because I just like it so much. I really love it. Its kind of deep and meaningful, but it sort of tells a story and its sad angry. It also brings the Keyhole, which is a bi...

Blogmas Day 5: Scribbles About Music: Simply Christmas by Leslie Odom, Jr. Review

So when I found out Aaron Burr was having a Christmas CD I got super excited! I think he has my favorite singing voice of anyone in the Original Hamilton cast... and I just really like it! I'm not that into his jazz cd because I'm not that into jazz... but I know he's a really good singer and I like Christmas Music, so it was good! So the selection of songs on the cd is kind of unique. These aren't songs that are un-traditional... but they aren't necessarily ones that you hear all the time on every radio station... and its sort of a different take on them too. The music is unique and Leslie's voice is just so amazing that it really does well with all of the songs. And the songs on the cd are Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The First Noel, My Favorite Things, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Merry Christmas Darlin, The Christmas song, Winter Song, and Ave Maria... in almost that order... lol. But yeah good selection of songs. I like his version of My F...

Scribbles About Music: Joanne by Lady Gaga

After Lady Gaga's last cd... I was a little bit underwhelmed. I was hoping this one would be a lot better or at least a little bit better... lol. And I was really impressed with this! It was a little different for Gaga. It still had the sexy-edginess that Gaga is known for... but its more of a chill cd that you can have in the background while doing just about anything... its good blogging music basically. I like having it on in the background when I write for blogs and that's kind of how I've been listening too it. It works and I like it a lot! So I think my favorite song is the one with Florence from Florence and the Machines in it... I wasn't really expecting their voices to work so well together. Florence has a very distinct and unique voice and style. Gaga went a little in that direction with this album. I also kinda like when she does songs that are almost a country songs. John Wayne is a good example of that, Grigio girls... I think what I loved about Born Th...

Scribbles About Music: Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying by Fall Out Boy (From Under The Cork Tree)

Alright... back to the actual titles of the songs! This should be fun! I don't think I ever actually knew the title of this song because I never really like it that much. This is one I kind of liked half the song but the other half I was just like "nahhh" and I don't remember which half exactly. I'm guessing the end with the scream-ness even though I just said I liked that in I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy. I'm kind of listening to this intently because I think this is one I usually listened to because I didn't dislike all of it... but it was always a song I didn't really like. The lyrics are fine... and the song is fine... but I don't know. Maybe I haven't gotten to the bad part yet... With the other song I don't like on this cd is that Patricks voice sounded weird and the song was a bummer... this song is kind of like that too. Ohh okay... I think I'm at the part I must not have liked and its the screamo-y part... I was ri...

Scribbles About Music: Fall Out Boy From Under The Cork Tree- Track 11

Yeah I'm keeping the "Track number" titles of these because this sounds like a juicy story if you don't know the song. It's "A little less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'" so... yeah. This is one of my favorites from the cd too. Maybe one of the ones that made me accidentally like Fall Out Boy as well. And last week I kind of said I sped up my writing because I didn't want to listen to the song again... this time I'm kind of slowing down because I want to hear the song again and again... so that's cool. This is a catchy one... just stays in your head all day. It sounds like a super happy song but its kind of a good breakup song. It also seems like a good "Hey let's win the girl song" too. I remember posting "I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it" lyrics after a breakup. Its just a good one. The music video for this is also really fun. Especially since th...

Scribbles About Music Throwback Thursday Edition From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy Song 10

So if you're confused about why I didn't include the name of the song in the title... its because the name of the song is I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me... and I did not sleep with anyone in Fall Out Boy... but I figured if people didn't know the song, they would think I did and click on the blog for the wrong reason... I did a Shannon Goes Viral for the trailer of Sausage Party and after being like "Wow, a lot of people must love Seth Rogen" I was like "Ohh... People might have clicked because it said Sausage Party and I tagged it Sausage Party... So... yeah. If you want to get a lot of hits to your blog... do that... but yeah. Anyway onto the song! I always liked this song. Its a little weird but its kind of dark and angry and just very cool. I like songs like this and The Carpal Tunnel of Love. I don't know why, they remind me of my birthday for some reason... it makes little to no sense other...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends by Fall Out Boy

Now for the 8th song from From Under The Cork Tree! Of all the songs I really like on this CD and that I've always liked... this might be my least favorite of all of them. There's nothing bad about it, but its just the worst of the best. Even listening to it now I'm like "Yeah okay... there's a lot too this song... but maybe its too much and its just a little boring." I'm sure people have lyrics from this song as tattoos... but I don't understand why this song would need to be on anyone's body for the rest of their life. Its not bad... its just like if the rest of the songs were Ben and Jerry's... this song would be the Up and Up brand of Ice Cream... not saying Up and Up is bad... its just not Ben and Jerry's. I like the line about the matches... I don't understand what they're saying and I feel like this blog is more authentic if I don't look it up... so I'm not going to. Thats my favorite line of the song though. ...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition Sophomore Slump or Comeback of The Year by Fall Out Boy

I wasn't expecting to love this song hearing it now as much as I do... but the lyrics of this song are probably my favorite and of all of Fall Out Boys songs... I think these are the ones that stuck with me the most. "The best part of believe is the lie" "I swear I'd burn this city down to show you the light." It's stuff that really matters and it sticks with you. "Take your tears, put them on ice." That's all good. This doesn't give me the happy feeling the way that I think 7 minutes in heaven did... but this one I feel better. I'm like "Yeah, I still like Fall Out Boy and these lyrics still mean something to me." Which is cool. All these years later, I'm still on board with this song. I guess that's a good thing! It is a good message though... singers lie to us. You can't really trust anyone other than yourself because people just like to tell you what you want to hear... cause that's just who they ar...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition: 7 Minutes in Heaven by Fall Out Boy

So this one I was excited to listen to after last weeks episode. This was never my favorite song... but I kind of bundle this in with the next 3 songs and this is my favorite of that little bundle... so yeah! This is one I was excited to listen to again. And this is one that makes me feel super young again... but I feel like I'm still young enough for this song to be cute to me. Does that make sense? It still feels very relevant to me. Not that I'm sitting out dances on the wall or anything like that... but I know what that feels like. I can relate to this song. Also its just catchy. Very uplifting after the previous song... or even just after Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner (since I usually skip the Dark Ally song). This is just a nice catchy one. I feel like a lot of why I like it is the same as why I like Dance Dance. Just a good catchy song that might not be the happiest of songs... but its still upbeat and makes you feel good and dancey... so yeah. Side Note: Adele re...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- I've got a Dark Ally and A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth

Gosh... these titles are far too long! This is the one song by Fall Out Boy I can honestly say I never liked... and I've liked it a little bit over times to the point where I wasn't skipping the song when I listened to the album... and there are some great lines in this... but ultimately, it's my least favorite Fall Out Boy Song. I feel like I should compare this... but this is kind of hard. Arrested Development is my favorite show, and I would say that my least favorite episode of that show is still better than any other show on tv... but this is different because I just don't like this song. And its even more of a let down because its on after my favorite song... and I know last time I did a review I said I didn't think that song really held up as that good... but I still really like it... this one I just don't like. It's just really a downer song and I just don't like it that much compared to other songs... which is funny because its about compari...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition: Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner

Alright! Here we go! This one is my favorite song from From Under The Cork Tree... Possibly one of my favorites from Fall Out Boy... And honestly... listening to it right now, I don't love it the way I did before. I mean I still think its really clever written and it still probably is my favorite... but I don't feel like a kid listening to it, I just feel like "This was the best song by Fall Out Boy... back in the day." I think its still my favorite, but if I were to have to choose between this or one of their newer songs on the radio... I'd pick one of the newer songs! It's kind of a bittersweet feeling. Its really sad to type out that this song was a little bit of a let down... but at the same time... I know its not. I'm happy that I like their newer songs more, not because new is better... but Fall Out Boy is older now and I am too. What I do really miss about their older songs is that they all sound different... now all the new songs by Fall Out ...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition Sugar We're Going Down

I've probably heard this song the most recently of any songs on the cd. They still play it on the radio from time to time. This is the first song I ever heard from Fall Out Boy. Again, like the last song... I didn't understand any of the words! This is my first "favorite song" from when I was starting to get into music because I wanted to be cool. It was this and some Gwen Stefani ironically enough... Something terrible happens every time I listen to Gwen Stefani... so I never listen to her anymore. So that is ironic. I've gotta say, I don't think this is as fun as Dance, Dance was. The memories tied to this one are still good... but different maybe? I remember trying to do the lick salute that Pete did in the music video and they played this at their concerts all the time. It still isn't as amazing as I thought it was. Still good... I still like it... but I think I like this second least so far. If I were to rate them from best to worst so far... 1) D...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- Dance, Dance by Fall Out Boy

Ahhh Dance, Dance! I did not like this song when I first heard it. I didn't understand a word of it... but Patrick Stump was cute and the music video was funny... so I kept listening to it and it grew on me and I ended up loving it and wanting the CD. Eventually I listened to this song every time I got ready in the morning. I understand every word now and I even whisper the "we're going into D Minor" part. It's still really catchy and upbeat. I haven't heard this song in years and I'm so excited listening to it now! They're totally going to play this at my wedding! I just think its funny that I couldn't understand a word of Fall Out Boy and now I can't not understand it... and I still know the words! I was kind of expecting to hate this song now... but I love it! I might even like it even better! This is my kind of song! I love it! If this were on the radio today I'd still like it! I might have even liked it more than I did original...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- Fall Out Boy Of All The Gin Joints In All The World.

Song 2 from From Under The Cork Tree! This probably is one of my favorite songs from the cd. I'm listening to it now and I feel so old though! And I'm sure Fall Out Boy was probably around my age when this song was released... so I shouldn't feel that old... but this specifically makes me feel really old. I feel like a teenager listening to it... and its a weird feeling. Its almost making me blush too because too because its making me think of boys I had crushes on. I would always listen to this song.  This one is easy to sing also and I like it! It really is the closest thing to Time Travel that I think you can get.  This is another one of those songs that made me an accidental Fall Out Boy fan too because I didn't think I'd like anything other than Dance, Dance and Sugar We're going down... but I listened to this by mistake... and I ended up loving it!  So yeah! That is everything, give an old song you loved a listen, its a pretty close way to Time Trave...

Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued by Fall Out Boy (From Under The Cork Tree)

So I'm doing a new Throwback Thursday Scribbles About Music where I go over every song from an album every other week (or maybe every week?). I'm starting with the CD That got me into music... From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy. And This is the first song... and the title is too long for me to keep repeating so I'm going to call it Lawyers. Emo Bands have names that are far too long as I've noticed over the years... so in real life I refer to their songs as something like "Number 5" or "The Song Before Dance, Dance" Or something like that. When I first bought this cd it was before I had an Ipod... before Iphones even existed. It was 10 years ago I think... I was 14 when I got this cd I think... so yeah.... thats quite a while and I still like it! I chose the CD because Fall Out Boy has been my favorite band for like 10 years... and it really hasn't changed. I don't listen to all their songs all the time any more... but I still think I...

Scribbles About Music: Last Year Was Complicated by Nick Jonas

Alright lets do a little review on the newest from Nick Jonas. I'm a little biased because we all know I'm going to marry Nick Jonas... so yeah. I think this is a really great album all in all! Its fun to dance to, theres sort of a fun "in and out of love" theme that I think a lot of people can relate to. Lots of fun sexy songs. What a fun, sexy time for you! (name that quote! Hint: It is NOT Borat!) I do have some favorite and least favorite songs and I have some reasons for that. Lets just start out with my least favorites... cause its not that I don't like the songs, its not that I don't listen to them or sing along to them... but they just aren't really my favorites for one reason or another. Champagne Problems- I do like this song... idk I just don't feel like I get it. Like I can get what its about and interpret it... it just isn't a really "Shannon" song. Chainsaw- I like this song but its one of those typical "I'm...

Scribbles About Music: SWAAY EP by DNCE

So one of my favorite songs on the radio right now is Cake by the Ocean from DNCE, aka Nick Jonas' super cool dance band. And I was kinda sad to see they only had an EP with 4 songs on it... I'm excited to hear more of them because... all the songs were pretty great! Cake By The Ocean  I love this song. It makes me want to dance and it makes me happy and I want to eat Cake by The Ocean. Lol. Any time this is on the radio I get really excited. I was never a big fan of the Jonas Brothers... but Nick Jonas kinda reminds me of Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship. He just has a sexy voice and he's having fun with that... so I really like this song cause it makes me fangirl in a way I usually only do for Gabe Saporta. Pay My Rent  This is a really cool analogy. This EP is great with analogies. Lol. So he wants to be with this girl all the time, so he's saying "pay my rent" because that's like what he wants of her love... very unique lol. I don't totally g...
