It List: May 2017

Can't believe it's the last day of May... this was a great time for TV... so let's get right into it! 1) Master of None- The second season of this show was really really great! I liked the first season... but this season was just wayyy better to me for some reason... I loved that they had episodes about Italy and about New York... I think they did a really great job and I was so impressed with it... I'll have to watch the first season over again and do a Throwback Thursday on that sometime soon... but until then... season 2 was great! 2) Girl Boss- I finally got around to watching Girl Boss this month too... and I loved that show! At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not... then I just couldn't stop watching it and I finished it in 2 days... which I guess is when I finished all the Netflix shows I'm talking about... but still. Girlboss was definitely really good... and I feel like I could watch this one over and over again too. 3) Unbrea...

Blogmas Day 15: Throwback Thursday- The Manger Scene

Another thing I liked when I was little was the Manger scene my parents had... because I liked playing with it! I'm sure a lot of kids do this, even if its not toys... we'll play with whatever lol. And I kind of wonder... what I did because I didn't really know the story of Jesus that well. I knew he was a baby and the 3 Kings traveled to bring him presents... didn't know much else... so I'm curious. We had a lot of angels in there that I don't think went with the manger... but I guess my mom put them there I guess because it kinda went. I'm not sure... anyway those were my favorites because they looked kind of like dolls or little girls. I think I broke one... we still keep it in there though. And then when we got my first dog Lucky... we put it inside our glass cabinets because we thought that Lucky would get it... and now we have another little dog that will get anything in his path... but yeah. It looks nicer now. Sometimes we put it underneath the...

Blogmas Day 12: The 12 Days of Christmas Gift Guide

So I thought it would be fun to do a gift guide that every gift corresponds with the price. So like for the first day of Christmas $1 gift that would be good and then up from there. These would be good stocking stutterers and things I just think are unique. $1- Solar Powered Dancers!  My mom loves getting the little dancing solar powered people. We get most of ours from Dollar tree... other dollar stores have them too, they're super cute and fun for $1. Its good to put near any plants that you have that way you know they're getting sunlight. It's a good gift. $2- Mini Coloring Book!  At 5 Below they had some mini travel sized coloring books for $2. I thought these were pretty cool. I got the Botanical one I believe. Really cute and fun! I would recommend! $3-   Ceramic Truck w/ Christmas Tree  I saw this at the Target Dollar Spot and I thought it was cute and would probably make a great gift. If you know someone who has a truck or likes the sort of "rustic C...

Why Advertising is Important

I think it was yesterday I mentioned that there was an inclusivity lately... especially with advertising... and it just makes me think ads have come such a long way. When I was in my Women's Studies class, we actually looked at older advertisements that were sexist... there were a lot of racist ones... and it was upsetting... but I think we've gotten further and are actually awesomely inclusive in their advertisements. Take Covergirl for example. They have quite a diverse group of people represented in their ads. Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifa and Sofia Vegara are all over 35, which is cool. Queen Latifah and Ellen are Lesbians... and it was sort of a stereotype when Ellen was starting that lesbians weren't really "Covergirls." I think that's kind of cool. Ingrid Nielson, Katy Perry, Janelle Monae, Pink, Zendaya, Nura Afia,Amy Pham, and James Charles. Nura Afia is the first covergirl that wears a hijab and James Charles is the first male covergirl! That is ...

September 2015: It List

Now that I do weekly favorites, I feel like these will be less surprising... but still. Some good things. 1) Pumpkin Spice Lattes- Its the most wonderful latte of the year! Lol. All the yes. Soooo much yes. Its so creamy and pumpkiny and delicious. It was what has been missing from my life for a long time and now its back and I think they get more and more delicious every year. And I know last year people were like "pumpkin spice isn't cool anymore." Have you had any? It is delicious!!!! I'm a big fan of the PSL. 2) Arrow- I've been wanting to watch this show for a while. The guy that plays Oliver is not only hot, but he was really funny and good on a talk show I saw him on... so that made me like "ohh I need to watch this." I'm also not super into comic books or anything, but I do like Batman and DC movies at least more than anything else and I didn't really realize that there were so many tv shows in the DC universe right now. There are a f...

Scribbles about News: Feminist stuff!

This is really cool!  Goldie Blox  has a new commercial out announcing its new action figures made for girls. I think Goldie Blox is kind of a cool company because it originally started with science toys targeted for girls and now they have these really cool action figures made for girls. This commercial is quite brilliant also. Beauty isn't everything. Everyone is beautiful in their own unique way and they shouldn't have these unrealistic expectations for women. Its very nice to see that girls can play with action figures now. I'm so jealous that I didn't have these growing up, but I'm happy these exist for my own kids. In other feminist related news, Aerie sales have gone up since their campaign to not use photoshopped women to sell their merchandise. Good for them! American Eagle is my absolute favorite store and I buy most things at Aerie. Not to be TMI, but the quality of their underwear is wayyyy better than Pink, and I like their hoodies and leggings better...

Fond Memories: The 101 Dalmatians Happy Meal Toys at McDonalds

Sooo... I had nothing to blog about today. I'm saving my WCW for next week and I just kind of ran out of ideas so I thought I'd share the most exciting thing about my childhood: The 101 Dalmatians toys from McDonalds. As a child, I was mildly completely obsessed with the McDonalds 101 Dalmatians toys. I was really excited about the movie coming out and... there were 101 toys???? I needed them all! These toys were also really cool because the movie came out around Christmas time and a lot of them had Christmas themes or London themes. There was one covered in tinsel, one with a wreath on his bum, one on an ornament, just all really cute little Christmas things. My parents would take me to every McDonalds and buy several toys at once just so that I could get all 101. Which was really special and they are great parents because of that. And then 102 Dalmatians came out and we had to do the same thing! I still have all of these toys and I'm probably going to use them as Ch...
