Music Monday: Lizzo Cause I Love You (Super Deluxe)

Alright... so Lizzo is my favorite artist as of late. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned how much I love Lizzo before- but I still haven't done a review on this album and there's just soooo much I can say about it!  So first off... if you ever just need a Love Yourself moment or you just want to smile or dance or something... listen to this album! Lizzo has this beautiful self confidence that she's obviously known for and it really is beautiful. I feel like this album just makes me feel beautiful and I think it can just make you feel good about yourself.  There are a lot of girl power songs on this- but there's also a song called Boys that I think is a great positive song for boys and for men. It reminds me of the song "All The Ladies in The World" from Flight of The Concords- but actually good. It's kind of an underrated song.  So my favorite songs on this album... basically they're all kind of my favorites. I'd pick Tempo as the one song I di...

Music Monday: Harry Styles- Fine Line Album Review

Alright Harry Styles is someone I keep on hearing about now- for a good reason! I didn't listen to One Direction a lot- but I did kind of like the songs I heard- but this is actually a lot better than those songs! It's actually better than a lot of albums in my opinion! I think Harry Styles might be my 2nd favorite male artist following Ed Sheeran. I actually just texted my sister to listen to it because I know she likes Ed Sheeran also and as I said he's my 2nd favorite male singer. Not that they're similar... but it's kind of like "Ohhh I like him, so maybe you will." The album is very chill and easy to listen to. I've listened to the full album at least 3 times and I'm listening to it as I write this also! One of my favorite youtubers, Jessica Braun suggested putting his songs on a "chill" playlist and I think that's a great idea. It's all very chill. Favorite songs of the album are "Cherry" "Treat People wit...

Best Things of the 2010s

Okay... I was going to do a top 10 list of the decade... but I think I'm going to just kind of talk about some of my favorite things of the decade... but I think I'm just going to talk about some things. If you were going to ask me what the BEST THING that the 2010s have given us- it's Hamilton. You guys... Hamilton... What a fantastic musical! I saw it in 2017 I believe... I had listened to the album just about a year before I saw it and it was still 1000% better than I expected. Totally exceeds all hype and definitely worth checking out! Another big favorite that has spanned from 2010 and I'm sure my love for them will continue for years to come... THE MINIONS! They are just so cute and they always make me smile and laugh. I loved the first despicable me so much and whenever I was stressed in college I would watch different minion videos and mini movies. It's just really fun! The favorite books of the decade for me are probably The Hunger Games, Gone Girl, H...

Shannon Loves: Fall Out Boy

Okay, yesterday I talked about my Fall Out Boy action figures and today I wanted to mention why I love fall out boy and when I started to love them. I think I'm going to do one of these types of posts once a month- that way you can understand a little bit more about me. So I remember one day in 7th or 8th grade maybe I wanted to get really into music because I didn't know too much about music at that point. I was really into movies- but not so much into music. Fortunately back then there was a cable channel that was called MTV Hits I think and they played all music videos all the time and it was awesome. I don't know if they still have it... but I really liked that. Plus there was a regular music network that had hit channels... so whenever nothing was on TV I turned those on!  So one day I turned it on and it was the music video for Sugar We're Going Down  I thought Patrick Stump was really cute. I thought the hats were kind of cool and different and I re...

Throwback Thursday: Weird Music Loop

So I have kind of a weird Throwback Thursday Today... but it's fun. I went down a kind of weird youtube/apple music wormhole last night and... this is just kind of what I listened to, why I listened to it and what I think of it. Panic At The Disco It started with the Panic! At The Disco album- A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. I wanted to listen to this because I heard a song from it recently and I really like it. Plus there's a huge Mandela Effect on the song "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." I remember it saying "I chimed in with a 'haven't you people ever heard of closing THE goddamn door?'" Well in fact... I recently heard it on the radio and it sounded like it said A   goddamn door instead of the. And sure enough- Apple Music says the same thing. There was even a whole thing where a famous person tweeted at the lead singer Brendon Urie and couldn't explain it. Anytime they sing it live... They sing THE goddamn door. Anyway funily enough...

Pop Culture Phenomenons: Musicals (Present Day)

So this is another sort of different post for me and it's something I'd kind of like to delve into a little more... but I'm going to take one particular pop culture phenomenon- whether it's having it's moment now or if it already had its moment... I feel like a bunch of things become popular at the same time that are kind of connected in some way or another... whether they're loosely related or closely related... I just wanted to kind of mention it... I'll do as much research as I can on the subjects and I'll kind of explain a little more about them. Hamilton (in Production since 2013)  So while the first official performance of the Broadway Musical Hamilton which we all know and love today... but before that there was a workshop and an off broadway run... some of these songs are a little different... there are versions in the Hamilton Mixtape of the original songs... the production you can see today is absolutely perfect the way it is... but I do lo...

Hump Day Update 2/7/18

What I'm Watching  At the moment I'm watching Inside Out... I'm about to watch 9-1-1 though because that's new tonight and they're doing a Valentines Day Episode. I saw a theory that The Good Place and Parks and Rec took place in the same universe... and so I'm watching both shows again and seeing what happens! I liked both of the pilots... but it's kind of funny how much each show changes from the start. And it's cool to re-watch The Good Place knowing what happens. I watched 2 episodes of Black Mirror and that was good... I'll probably be done with the series soon. I watched This Is Us and the Super Bowl obviously... both of those I've covered on this blog. I didn't watch yesterday's episode of This Is Us... and I'm still behind on The X Files. Trying to watch some more youtube... I have a HUGE watch Later playlist... I'm going to watch a bunch! News  Here  is an article about the first African American Woman to be...

Grammy Gossip: 2018 Grammy Recap!

I was really excited for this year's Grammy Award Show... I like watching awards shows and commenting on them and anything with performances are especially fun. And there were lots of performances this time around too- which was really cool! My personal favorite performances... obviously Lady Gaga... she's my favorite and I just think she did a great job. Kenderick Lamar opened the special and did a really great job with it... it was definitely fitting with all the awards he won last year and this year also... he's really great. Kesha's performance was incredibly moving... it was just so powerful to see all those women together there to support Kesha... I would be in Awe if Cyndi Lauper was performing my song alongside of me. Another moving performance was by some of the best new artist nominees... Alessia Kara, Logic and Khalid... after seeing the In Memoriam ending with Chester Bennington... that was really moving and I thought it was a great performance! And Bruno ...

Music Specials Review: I Heart Radio Music Festival and Bruno Mars Live at The Apollo

There have been a lot of Music Specials lately... some for Christmas some not really for Christmas... I thought I would review a couple of the ones I've seen. I Heart Radio Music Festival Night 2  I missed Night 1 but Night 2 was on on Black Friday and I found it by accident. I turned on a repeat of The Goldbergs that was airing on The CW because there was nothing else on... and then this came on and Kesha was singing and she was great... and then I just looked up what it was and I was so excited that it was just a concert and not a full Music Award Show... plus it wasn't Christmasy at all. It was just great. They had sooo many performers too. Kesha, Lorde, DJ Khaled, Demi Lovato and so so many more. They played a lot of songs that just about everyone would enjoy... it was just a lot of fun to watch and everyone did a really great job. I was only half watching- we had company over... but I just really liked what I saw. Bruno Mars Live at The Apollo  This was such a fu...

Scribbles About Music: Taylor Swift Ready For It

So... I feel like this is slowly becoming a Taylor Swift blog... Lol... It probably isn't... but she just dropped a new single and... now I'm interested in this album... so I'm reviewing it here. PS- Is she dropping a single every week now? Or every other week?  I'll check back on that and maybe I'll review some together... I really want to give fair time to all the new tv shows and even the returning ones coming this month and the next few months really... so yeah! Anyhoo- back to the song... it's kind of a rap song for taylor... and it's kind of sexy- kind of a fantasy type of thing... It reminded me of Wildest Dreams- which is what it's being compared to. I also thought that maybe the rapping thing was maybe a jab at Kanye... because Kanye is a rapper... I really thought that this whole song was about Kanye and that Taylor was kind of playing the character he portrayed her as in his song "Famous" because she mentions that she was a ...

These are just delicious. Today I got a bacon gouda… I’ve ...

Weekly Wrap Up 4.23.17

Favorites  Life in Pieces- They just put the first season of this show on Netflix! I’m excited! If you’ve been following this blog for a while, I didn’t like the show when I first saw it… so I didn’t watch most of the first season. After that it became one of my favorite shows that I watch over and over again… so I’m super happy to watch it from the beginning now!  Bullet Journal- Trying to get my life together… so I made a more fancy planner… and I’ll probably share more about it when I do it more often. So… yeah.  Here’s some funny news… a radio shack just closed… a lot are closing right now… but this one in Reynoldsberg Ohio is making news for telling off it’s customers in a Facebook post… and it’s kind of hilarious. I would not recommend doing that at ...

Favorites  Chobani Flips Cinnabun Fun- I’ve been loving Chobani Flips lately… this one is by far the best! I really like it! My favorite people to watch on youtube are Leslie Johnson and Zoreen’s Designs… I’ll link their channels below!  News and World Events  Actor Don Rickles passed away… for me I know him best as Mr. Potato Head… which believe it or not- he was actually nominated for an Emmy for playing… which is impressive. He also had a sandwich plat...

Scribbles About Music: One Hit Wonders: Good AND Bad

I've had Tubthumping by Chumbawamba stuck in my head... on and off the past couple of days... so let's explore some One Hit Wonders! Now... if you didn't know what a "One Hit Wonder" is... it's a band that had one song that you heard all the time... and then you never really heard from the singer or the band again. Some of my favorite songs are one hit wonders... and I literally do not know anything else from the bands... maybe they broke up shortly after or... something happened where they just weren't hits other than that one song you knew. So... I'm not really going to do a whole good or bad list... I'm just going to listen to some one hit wonder playlists and then rank it good or bad... but I'm obviously going to start with the one in my head right now. 1. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba- This is bad... it's the easiest song to get stuck in your head because the song basically repeats the same lyrics over and over again. There's a ...

March 2017 It List!

1) Trial and Error- This is such a funny show! I highly recommend it if you love Murder Mysteries, or if you like Parks and Rec or Arrested Development... this show is a lot like those 2 shows... so I think it's really great because those are my 2 favorite shows of all time. Sherri Shepherd is really great in it. John Lithgow and Jayma Mays are really funny... it's just a great show all around! 2) Beauty and The Beast- I saw this movie in theaters and it's definitely my favorite of the new Disney Live Action remakes! I actually liked it more than the cartoon because it explained things that the cartoon didn't explain! I thought they did a great job! It was a fun one to see in theaters too... and my mom and I saw the Imax 3d version... it was gorgeous! Highly recommend! 3) Divide by Ed Sheeran- I've been listening to this NON STOP! It's just so good, really different... and at the end of it, it doesn't seem like you just listened to a CD, it sounds like y...

Weekly Wrap Up 3/25/17

Favorites  Sing- This is such a cute movie! I got the blu ray and watched it this week... it's just a cute little feel good movie. Not as much actual singing as I thought there would be, but all the singing is really good still. And it's just one of those cute ones! I recommend watching it!  The Most Popular Girls in School- This is a great web series... I think it was a favorite last week or a few weeks ago... but I finished it... and I'm already watching it again. It's really funny.  Trial and Error- This is a great show! I had it as a favorite last week... it still keeps getting better. Highly recommend it.  News and World Events Chuck Berry died... which is sad. He was an amazing talent and he really did invent Rock and Roll... which is the basis for so many other genres of music... it's very sad. First day of Spring Happened... so there's a thing. National Puppy Day was this week. Technically it was the 23rd, but Spencer would argue...

Favorites  The Fragoholic- This is a youtuber that does mostly celebrity  fragrance  reviews... I started watching his videos because I wanted to see a review on the Katy Perry perfumes... but I could listen to him talk about Fragrance all day. I've started becoming more interested in fragrance... so I think his reviews are interesting.  Trial and Error- I reviewed this  here  and I really thought it was funny.
