Scribbles About TV: Rise

So NBC's been killing it with their shows lately... and I have to say... I think Good Girls is my favorite... but I just can't stop thinking about Rise! Here are some things I love about it! Josh Radner's Acting Abilities Finally Shine!  I'm a fan of How I Met Your Mother... and I'm one of the rare people that actually really did like Ted Mosby as a character... and Josh Radner is talented... but despite being the main character of How I Met Your Mother... he kind of faded into the backround with the very over the top comedic performances of all the other characters. Radnor kept it grounded and I think that's a hard thing to do with all of those other characters. That being said... it's hard to tell whether or not he's the best actor... that's the only thing I've seen him in and... he was okay but I always thought he was trying to be more of a director. In this show- I think he really is his character. I think his actual passion for the sho...

The Best Small Details About Good Girls Pilot Episode.

Okay... so I'm a little obsessed with NBC's show Good Girls. I was going to do a full review on it... but I thought maybe I could skip that and just tell you guys my favorite little details that I noticed in the Pilot that really made the show quite special... in my opinion. Little jokes, metaphors, similar shots... there was a lot in the first episode and I really loved all those details... so lets just get into it! 1) The Fine n Frugal- Mae Whitman's character Annie works at a store called the Fine n Frugal, which the three ladies later end up robbing. I just think the name is funny... and its fitting. Is this the best job Annie could have? No- but it's fine. Is this the best grocery store ever? Nope- but it's fine because it's there. Is everything fine internally in the store... no. But people will still shop there because it's fine and frugal. 2) The Pigs Fly Ad- Now onto Matthew Lillard's character, Dean Boland. Dean runs a car dealership and he...

New TV Reviews: 9-1-1, X Files Season 11, LA To Vegas, Grownish, Alone Together

Sooo I've seen a bunch of new tv shows... and I've really liked all of them... so I thought I would just do one mega review of everything... and here's what I think about it all. 9-1-1  This show had one of the best pilots I've ever seen and a great follow-up episode as well. It's just such a great show... really sucks you in when you watch it and makes you wonder what happens next. I think they did such a great job with character development for an ensemble... it's Ryan Murphy so obviously it's going to be amazing with an amazing  cast... Connie Britton, Angela Basset, the guy that played Nate on Six Feet Under... everyone is just so good and I'm really loving the show so far. It already has me hooked and this episode ended on a cliffhanger... so I'm excited to see what's coming next! The X Files  This season of the X Files is kind of funny because I'm actually watching it with my mom who isn't that into sci fi and she never really...

Emmy Recap 2017

So... I feel like I don't have a lot to say about the Emmy's. I didn't watch the whole thing... I don't watch all of the shows- I do watch quite a few though... so I kind of know what was going on... but I still have some thoughts... just very briefly lol. Some shows I was excited were nominated: Stranger Things, that's a great show. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was great this season and I was happy that Titus Burgess and Ellie Kemper were both nominated... I really wanted Titus to win- he's just so funny on Kimmy Schmidt and his character was so real and relatable this season too... the episode with the Lindas was so funny. I have an Aunt Linda and I told her about it and she thought that was really funny. I think she's looking to join the council of Linda's lol. Even though I was rooting for Ellie Kemper this year... I think Tracee Ellis Ross deserves an Emmy for Blackish. She deserved one for the first season- and with this season of Blackish being t...

Being Nit Picky About TV Shows: Everything wrong with the first few minutes of Somewhere Between's 8/8 Episode

I'm a little bit nit picky about tv shows and movies... and I get it... writing is hard. It isn't easy to write a tv show or movie... but I know a little something about it... so I can kind of nit pick the little bit that I watched of the Paula Patton show on ABC "Somewhere Between." I don't watch the show enough to say "Ohhh this is a bad show." I honestly can't tell you what it's about... it sounds to me like they're trying to be Stranger Things- but I believe this was filmed before the popularity of Stranger Things and there's no noticeable supernatural element to it... So that's just kind of what I'm picking up on. Alright... I didn't really know what I was in for with this show until I watched the "last week on somewhere between" part. One of the male characters was being grabbed by a detective and he turned around and said "Woah, Woah Woah. Why are your hands on my person." ...? That's a common ...

Scribbles About TV: This is Us: Midseason Premiere Review *Spoilers*

I really liked this episode of This Is Us and I'm even more excited for the next episode. I thought it was an exciting premiere, I'm going to sort of talk about my favorite stories to my least favorite ones... but in general I thought that they were all really really good. I love this show... so it was great. Jack and Rebecca Storyline  This was one of my favorites of the Jack and Rebecca stories. I really liked seeing what happened to Rebecca when she found out that she was having triplets... its a scary and hard thing to imagine and they showed all of their struggles in a really real way. And there was a lot of background on the two characters in this episode. I didn't know about Jack's relationship with his abusive father... and in the Thanksgiving episode we got a little bit of information about Rebecca's mother not being the best grandma ever... but wow! Was she wicked in this episode! You can even see some explanation of the way that Rebecca is with Kate. ...

Scribbles About TV: The Family

So I was kind of half paying attention to this... but I think I was still watching it pretty closely because I was pretty into it! Its a good show! So... I don't think the acting is... the best. Most everyone is good... but the guy that plays Adam just isn't very good. I don't want to be mean because he is a kid, and I think he's doing his best. He might be doing a great job because he kind of has to act like a bad actor... but I just don't like him. But I do think its a hard role and he's doing a better job than I could have done... so he's not really a reason to not watch the show. And the other characters... I didn't think anyone was amazing to be honest... but I think they may just need their characters to develop a little bit better and I think there's going to be a lot of character development. The show has a lot going on with it... The main story focuses on a missing boy who was assumed dead when he was 9 years old and he shows up 10 yea...

Scribbles About TV: Quantico, Limitless,Blindspot, Dr. Ken

I feel like this is one of the better years for TV as a whole... and thats pretty awesome. The Muppets, Scream Queens... Supergirl is coming up... and these shows which I'm about to review for you right now! Quantico  Alright I was like half watching this when it first came on... and I liked it... didn't think it was anything too special. I thought this was going to be what How To Get Away With Murder was last year... and I don't think its as initially gripping as that was but it has potential. Forget everything I just said... this show is brilliant. Everything is suspicious. Everyone is a suspect and all the characters are just really interesting and fun. It is a show you'll have to watch 2 or 3 times... but I think it's going to have a great payoff. 3 people died in the first episode... that's an exciting thing. The part I missed was everything good about the show apparently. I'm pumped for this one. This is the show to watch now I think! Dr. Ken  ...

Scribbles About TV: A Deadly Adoption Review

So before I get into the review of the best movie ever made... let me just tell the story of it. On April 1st, 2015 it was announced that Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig made a lifetime movie together. And it was kind of like "what? Is this real? Is this April Fool's? What is this?" And the next day it was said that Ferrell was upset that it was being released and the project was scrapped. Which made no sense A) Lifetime has control over the movie, not Will Ferrell B) Even if its low budget, its unlikely that they completed something that wouldn't be released. Especially with such high profile celebrities. So either this didn't exist, or we would be seeing it soon. And last month there were some posters spotted for it, a trailer was released and everyone was excited... but still confused. It looked quite dramatic from the previews... but it has to be a comedy right? What kind of lifetime movie is this. It's just that. This is 100% a comedy... but its also a li...

Scribbles About TV: UnREAL

So, I don't watch Lifetime very often... so I didn't even hear about this show or what it was about or anything. But I saw on Entertainment Weekly, or Vulture or TVLine or something saying that there was a new drama about a dating reality show. This is a concept that always intrigues me. I've also started watching The Bachelorette recently... and I know a little bit about the Scripted Television industry... and I know Reality Shows are just as scripted as everything else. I can kind of tell there's a lot of drama behind the scenes to create this drama... so this all makes sense to me. I was kind of on board when I saw Constance Zimmer on it. She's super talented and doesn't really tend to stay on shows that last a long time... but she can do funny, she can do mean... she can be serious... she is really talented and I think this role is the role for her because she is kind of the villain and the comic relief of the show. The show is pretty dark, so it needs som...

Scribbles About TV: Secrets And Lies: Series Review WITH SPOILERS

Alright so I already did a review of the pilot on this blog and I said it was bad... It was a pretty bad over the top pilot... but sticking with it its really great. I'm at the end of the Penultimate episode and I have a theory... So I'm gonna pause I'm in suspense... but I want to write my theory on this blog before I actually see what happens so it isn't tainted. If you haven't watched it yet, don't read this before watching it! Lol. Theory  Okay so for a while now I thought that if I were to write this... I would have Abbi as the killer. She's this sweet innocent girl, it would be shocking, terrifying and very twisted if she ended up being the killer. There was one reference I caught onto also pointing to her. The stalker mentioned getting "The Monkey off his back"... and that's what Ryan Phillipee's character refers to Abbi as... Okay so there is that. She's also a super daddy's girl, and they play her as kind of this dumb ...

Scribbles about TV: First week of March 2015

Started out strong. Better Call Saul Marathonin with my mom. She falls asleep before most of the episodes... I have a hard time paying attention to some of the episodes... so we watched the first 3 episodes of it and tried to explain it to my sister who had little interest and doesn't like Breaking Bad. Then I watched Secrets and Lies... which sucked. It really sucks its pretty bad. Its watchable, so I may continue watching it. Compared to The Slap its better but its still laughably awful and I think this isn't how crime investigations really work. Also I'm watching it now, the second episode is a little bit better than the pilot, but its still not good. I'm pretty sure the end is going to be the same as Gone Girl. Ohhh and I half watched Once Upon a time. Ummm I don't think I watched the Winter Finale... I may not have watched the episode before that... I'm not sure. This is where Once looses me because I totally don't remember what happened and I feel ...

This Week In TV- Week of 11/9/14

Sunday  Once Upon a Time- Good episode. I like the Snow Queen I like seeing her connection with Emma and Elsa, although this episode was mostly about Emma. I liked seeing Emma's dark side too... that is interesting and that she's actually a little jealous of her baby brother because he has things that she doesn't. It makes complete sense. I would be upset too. Brooklyn 99- Eva Longoria guest starred and she had amazing chemistry with Andy Samberg. Her character was funny and driven and powerful and I just really really liked her character. Eva Longoria is amazing, I loved her in Desperate Housewives and I think she's someone I would watch a show for. Like if she were to star in a new tv show, I would make a point of watching it for her. Monday-  Gotham- Catching up little by little... but this show isn't really wowing me anymore. Jane The Virgin- Good episode... not my favorite. I feel like the first few weeks were just nonstop excitement and the exciteme...

This Week in TV- (Week of 11/2/14)

Sunday-  Once Upon a Time- I like the connection between Emma and the Snow Queen, but that is very creepy and dark. I liked that this episode focused around Belle, I thought that was great. I thought Belle's mom was going to be the missing sister, but I guess she wasn't. I'm not sure I totally understood everything that was going on, this is one of their harder to follow storylines, but overall it was good. The Affair- Must catch up! Bob's Burgers- I'm so happy this show is back! I thought it was really funny too. Tina fell in love with a fake ghost that Louise made up... it was just really good all around. They always have good Halloween episodes and this was really really great. Brooklyn 99- Really funny episode all around. Holt was good, it was funny that Jake and Amy found out about Gina and Boyle... The club scene was funny, and I like seeing the softer side of Rosa. She was especially good paired with Terry Crews character this week. Monday  Gotham...

This Week in TV- (week of 10/26/14)

Sunday  Once Upon A Time- Not a bad episode... I really liked the end. I feel like because of the Frozen storyline Once has gotten a bit more childish... it seems very teenage now. Also... they had this whole big thing last week about Rumplestilskin and the wizard and Mickey Mouse and this week they didn't do anything with that... I feel like thats kind of a huge missed opportunity! They keep doing that this season too... getting me all excited for one story and then leaving that storyline alone for the next few weeks and going onto something entirely different. Also not enough Hook... wtf? The Affair- I lost some interest in episode 2... not gonna lie. I still haven't watched it yet. I will catch up before next week, but its just hard to keep up with. Bobs Burgers- Seriously?????? What the hell happened to this show. Is it because of baseball or football or something? Why didn't they just wait for the season premier if they aren't going to show another episode fo...

THIS WEEK IN TV (Week of 10/19)

Sunday  Once Upon a Time- I liked this weeks episode... but there were so many sad moments. Like Hook still being a bad guy a little bit... but he loves Emma so much that he might change. And there was Rumple being a really bad guy too. And Mickey Mouse was in it which was cool. I was happy to see a little more of Anna, but I don't like Anna as much as Elsa. Brooklyn 99-  Really good episode. It was a callback to last year's Halloween episode where Jake tries to steal Holt's medal, only this time he tries to steal his watch. They really did a good job of taking something they already did and making it really good and different a second time. It was similar to Arrested Development's "Pier Pressure" and "Making a Stand." So good. Just good TV all around. The Affair- Didn't actually catch this weeks ep. I'm sure it was good, I'll have to catch up tomorrow. Monday  Gotham- Really clever episode. I liked that there was even almost a ...

Scribbles About TV: Forever Review

I was so excited that ABC showed this on their website early. This is the one show I was actually really excited to see this year, and it did not disappoint. So the whole "guy that lives forever" thing is interesting enough as it is and I think they pulled it off really really well. They show him die in these spectacular, exciting ways. The first one that we see is him getting into a subway crash. Then he is reborn in the water and comes out naked every time. This is the main character btw, Henry Morgan. Only one other person knows his secret and at the end of the episode, we get to see who this man is and find out why he is the person that knows Henry's Secret. And its actually really sweet, I don't want to spoil it but its a nice little touch that they added to the episode. It's also a crime show as well though. Henry is a medical examiner and he meets a detective/ pretty lady that is trying to solve what happened on this subway. If it was a homicide or if i...

Breaking Bad: Character Breakdown SPOILERS

So I just finished watching Breaking Bad and I need to write a paper for class and do other things with my life, so I'm going to do an in depth blog on each of the characters. I have a lot of feelings here, this is probably going to be a super long blog post that only people that only television nerds will like and it will be spoiler heavy! I will spoil everything that there is to spoil most likely, so please read at your own risk. Badger and Skinny Pete - so I'm going to start this off on a lighter note and talk about Badger and Skinny Pete because... I mean what's not to love about them? They are Jesse's drug dealer buddies and they're the best dumb- lovable druggie sidekicks anyone could ask for. They're funny, loyal and they show up unexpectedly when you really need them in the show. I was so happy when Walt hired them as his "assassins" in the finale. Just too great. Gale- Gale was a character that I knew they brought in just to kill off. Wh...
