Emmy Recap 2017

So... I feel like I don't have a lot to say about the Emmy's. I didn't watch the whole thing... I don't watch all of the shows- I do watch quite a few though... so I kind of know what was going on... but I still have some thoughts... just very briefly lol.

Some shows I was excited were nominated: Stranger Things, that's a great show. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was great this season and I was happy that Titus Burgess and Ellie Kemper were both nominated... I really wanted Titus to win- he's just so funny on Kimmy Schmidt and his character was so real and relatable this season too... the episode with the Lindas was so funny. I have an Aunt Linda and I told her about it and she thought that was really funny. I think she's looking to join the council of Linda's lol.

Even though I was rooting for Ellie Kemper this year... I think Tracee Ellis Ross deserves an Emmy for Blackish. She deserved one for the first season- and with this season of Blackish being the best one so far IMO... she definitely deserved it. She is the funniest part of that show- which is awesome. She's a very strong, female character and I'm so happy she's not just the straight man to Andre's antics... she's so funny and smart and just a well written, funny character that keeps the show really grounded.

I had mixed feelings about Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin's nominations this season. 1) They definitely deserved to be nominated in previous seasons... this season was definitely not my favorite- I mentioned that in my review for that season... I don't think that had to do with Jane and Lilly's performance this season at all... I thought they were great as always... but it isn't the thing I would recommend the most.

I was happy Aziz Ansari won a writing award for Master of None. I loved this season- that show is an absolutely beautiful love letter to NYX- also to Italy this season... a lot of it is like an old fashioned movie with very modern themes... there are some sad episodes and some funny episodes... the episode that won was a great mixture of both... and I just would highly recommend this show. It's not back every year- I think it takes such a long time to make the show because it is such a beautifully done show.

I think it's weird when SNL is nominated for acting categories... I feel like it's almost a cop out because it is in the variety categories... and I don't necessarily think that's fair. I think Stephen Colbert should have been considered for an acting nomination for The Colbert Report- because he was playing a character very well on that show and he was just as funny and just as well acted. To me that's pretty darn impressive.

Speaking of Colbert... let's get to the hosting of the show! I thought he was sooo funny. They didn't show him all that often... but still- I think he was really funny and was just right for the show. The Last Week Tonight joke was really funny. He and Jimmy Kimmel were shown drinking a cocktail and they said it was called "Last Week Tonight" because that show kept winning. And they said "It's so high quality they only do one a week" because obviously Colbert and Kimmel do more than one show a week.

And Rachel Bloom did a performance. I only saw one of the performances... I think she might have done more. I love Rachel Bloom- I thought she was hilarious. I was excited to see her.

And I didn't see the whole part with James Corden and Seth Meyers... but I thought that was great.

Big Winners of the night: The Handmaid's Tale won a lot- including Best Drama and Best Actress. Big Little Lies won a lot- including a win for Alexander Skarsgard- who I'm a big fan of... so that made me happy. Veep won for Best Actress (Julia Louis Dryfuss) and for Best Comedy. SNL won in both supporting actor categories- of corse Trump and Hillary won- Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon. And my favorite: Sterling K Brown won for Best Actor in This is Us... I really want to see The Crown now because I was 100% expecting Ron Cephas Jones to win and I'm wondering how Lithgow could have beaten him. Side Note: It is INCREDIBLY rude that they cut off Sterling when he was making his speech. It makes sense to cut people off- but PLEASE let the actors and the major winners of the night INCLUDING COMEDY have their moment. It was awful when they played off BETTE MIDLER at the Tony's... they need to just LET THEM TALK!!!! My goodness it is 100% rude and terrible. I think next year they should just have Kanye kick them off the stage... because it's that bad.

So yeah! That is everything! I don't have Hulu... I really want it now- I want to read Big Little Lies before watching it... but that is just about everything I wanted to say! Chart chat will be tomorrow!

Also- Christopher Jackson did an amazing performance during the In Memoriam segment... He's very talented and I was happy he was peforming... even happier that it was a Stevie Wonder song!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
