Throwback Thursday: Playing With Word Magnets!

Soooo... this is kind of fun. If you are a writer or creative in any sort of way... this is a fun thing to get. Basically it's just magnets with words on them... these were big in the 90s... and I found some today and I decided I have a lot of magnetic surfaces in my bedroom and I could stick these there and try to write things... so that's what I've been doing for  an hour and I thought I'd share them with you. They don't all make sense... but I kind of want to maybe make some stories with them! I don't know... this is just a fun little thing and I wanted to share. These don't all make sense... so yeah. 1) The Dinosaur Present 2) Haiku (some of these are just words that I wanted to do something with but couldn't find anything to go with it. But I'm still including them.) 3) iron 4) I woman (I tried to include am) 5) Promise to not grope me 6) see above 7) liquid 8) Say dopey little funny 9) Mr. Boogie 10) Essentially Fabulous ...

Creative Process- 5 Creative Tips and Tricks

Today I've just been having a really creative day today... and I feel like I've kind of noticed why. If you want to know about beauty products that have helped me think a little more creatively  I posted THIS blog on my Beauty Blog a While Ago . But... yeah. On with the things I liked about it. 1) Sit in the back seat of a car- There's something kind of childlike about sitting in the back seat of a car that just kind of gets my wheels turning... and I did that tonight. It wasn't a super long drive, but it was long enough to kind of see everything... and I passed a lot of interesting things. There's my regular hometown, new restaurants that are busy, old iconic restaurants that have closed down, shopping complexes, an abandoned shopping complex, things that used to be something completely different than what they are now, places that I knew bad things have happened... it's just kind of funny how big a relatively small area feels from just observing things in th...

Bullet Journal for Beginners: Favorite Spreads / Useful Tips

I just started Bullet Journaling… this is something I kind of love to do lately and here are just kind of my favorite things to do with this… There is no right or wrong way to do this… but this is what’s been working for me.  Habit Tracker  This is just one of my favorite things that I’ve been doing… keeping track of what I should be doing. I never really thought this was something I would do because a lot of people have things like “Don’t drink alcohol” and just things… that aren’t necessarily unimportant but it isn’t relevant to me… but then I was like Ohhh I could keep track of doing a lot of blogs, I could write down when I do things like read and meet my step goal and those sorts of things. I just kind of make like a graph type thing and color in every day and I put a little X when I don’t do that thing… and it is weirdly satisfying. I have mine for June already and I made other things… it’s just kind of cool. I was happy with the way it turned out.  Mood ...

Shannon Does Stuff April: I Stick to a Schedule!

Shannon Does Stuff: April- I write and stick to a schedule!  Alright… this is going to be a kind of weird one… but I’m going to try to have some sort of writing schedule and daily schedule for things I’m working on other than blogs. So… let’s say something like I I want to watch the new Ghostbusters movie and the Extended Version is 134 minutes… so I want to write for this project for at least 134 minutes… That’s probably not going to be the case every day… but that’s what I want to do for weekdays at least.  April 1st- I didn’t really start this weekend… I did probably work on my blog a little bit… I think I specifically did a lot of stuff for my Scribbles About Feminism Blog… which is hard to write for and the least fun one… so that was good! I need to figure out when to do the blogs and Instagram along with the other thing I’m working on…so that’s where the time management thing is coming in handy.  April 2nd- I think I wrote some for my beauty blog and a ...

It List:July 2016

1) Couch to 5K-  So I've already done an app review about this, but I love this app! It's so useful for getting into shape... It's fun and I like it a lot! 2) Pokemon Go- This is such a fun game! I loved the Pokemon TV show and I collected the cars and toys as a kid...but I was never into the games, but this is easier to use and it's just fun. I just downloaded it for a review... But then I caught a Pokemon and I was like "ohh that felt good" and I wanted to play more. I like it a lot but this is really nice! I like it a lot!  3) Me Before You- I forget if this was in last months It List...but I'm almost done with it now and it's gotten so good! I'm already sure I'll be bawling my eyes out at the ending, but I'm really loving it right now! Expect a review soon!  4) Disney Vloggers- I follow mostly beauty Vloggers on YouTube... But one of the people I follow is Jessica Braun, who is on her husbands channel Tylerstravelstv... And ...

5 Things You Shouldn't Say To Writers

I feel like there are certain jobs you can want to do and majors you can have that people will just flat out criticize you for. Right to your face, and in inconvenient places. Writing is one of those things. 1) Ohhh you should think about teaching too- This is how the conversation always goes.  "Ohhh you're in college what are you majoring in" "English" "Ohhh so you want to be a teacher" "No I want to be a writer." 1) There are LOTS of things you can do with an English degree... and I'm going to play the feminism card here and say that because I'm a woman people assume I want to teach when I say I'm an English Major. There is nothing wrong with teaching, but that isn't the only thing you can do with an English Degree. You can write, you can teach, you can be a lawyer, a lot of famous actors are english majors. Also the reason I'm posting about this is one specific instance where someone mentioned that I should try teachi...

Man Crush Monday- Mark Duplass

So I talked about doing this before and I was a little hesitant, because I don't really have a ton of actual celebrity crushes and if I were to talk about celebrities that I actually have crushes on, it would probably be super shallow and not that interesting. When I do Woman Crush Wednesdays I talk about women that I admire and want to be like more than girls I think are hot. Sooo I figured I'd post about some guys I admire instead of just guys I think are hot. Mark Duplass is a pretty cool guy, so he made the list first. Alright first off, he's super funny on The League. I just assumed he was just a funny guy that did stand up comedy and over the top funny movies. Then I saw Safety Not Guaranteed, which he stars in and I think he and his brother Jay produced also. It's probably one of my favorite movies ever, and I just thought he was great and he seemed to really get into his character. He played a crazy person that was actually a genius, which I feel like is close...
