Remember a few weeks ago when I did a post on  movies that used to be on all the time when I was a kid?  Well this was on there- and I finally got to re-watch it as an adult... and it was wayyy better than I remember. But there are still some problems with it... so I'm going to talk about it today. One thing that kind of upset me about the movie is that it is directed by Brett Ratner... who was one of the men that was accused of sexual harassment... and it also has Jeremy Piven in the movie... who was another one of those men. So with that I was happy I didn't actually buy the movie. My boyfriend checked it out at his local library because he knew I wanted to see it. Anyway with that being said... the rest of the movie was really enjoyable. It took place in New York and New Jersey. This is a movie that I missed in theaters although I really REALLY wanted to see it... and yeah. I'm kind of glad that I waited so long to see it and that I now own it...because this is just sort of amazing and one of the best movies I've ever seen maybe. I've been a fan of Kumail Nanjiani for a long time. He was on a show called Michael and Michael Have Issues with Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter... and they used to answer questions on twitter during the show and I remember asking Michael Showalter who the one guy was because I thought he was so funny and he said "Oh that's Kumail, he's a writer" and since then he's gotten more and more famous and yeah. He also has an X Files podcast and I'm a massive fan of The X Files... so I listened to that for a while too. I knew a little bit about his story with his wife Emily Gordon. I knew that sometime when they were dating she was in a coma and I knew he was from Pakistan. While I was watching ...

So I have kind of a weird Throwback Thursday Today... but it's fun. I went down a kind of weird youtube/apple music wormhole last night and... this is just kind of what I listened to, why I listened to it and what I think of it. Panic At The Disco It started with the Panic! At The Disco album- A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. I wanted to listen to this because I heard a song from it recently and I really like it. Plus there's a huge Mandela Effect on the song "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." I remember it saying "I chimed in with a 'haven't you people ever heard of closing THE goddamn door?'" Well in fact... I recently heard it on the radio and it sounded like it said A   goddamn door instead of the. And sure enough- Apple Music says the same thing. There was even a whole thing where a famous person tweeted at the lead singer Brendon Urie and couldn't explain it. Anytime they sing it live... They sing THE goddamn door. Anyway funily enough...

Okay... Serendipity is a Romantic Comedy that is all about fate and fortunate accidents. It is an old movie that I watch pretty much every time it's on... and I used to always love it... and I still love it... BUT I feel like I've gotten way more cynical about it as I've gotten older... so I'll kind of explain all of my feelings about it here. The movie focuses around Jonathan and Sarah (played by John Cusak and Kate Beckinsale). They meet up one night in New York reaching for the same pair of gloves... and someone else tries to buy the gloves from them and they come up with some sort of excuse that they're buying them for Sarah's Boyfriend, who will become Jonathan's girlfriend "after the surgery" (someone asked who they were for and she said "my boyfriend" at the same time Jonathan said "my girlfriend.") And they really get a kick out of that I guess and they have dinner... but Sarah won't give Jonathan her name or her p...

Alright... today's throwback is going to be a little different... but I'm going to talk about some youtube videos from one of the first huge youtubers- Ray William Johnson. He was the number 1 youtuber for a long time not too long ago... and now his channel is really different. He did have 3 channels that I watched and there was another spinoff and I think he was in a web series... I kind of want to have this as an appreciation of these videos... I watched a video kind of criticizing some of these channels and I thought that video was a little harsh and I don't think it was that informative... so I just kind of want to say I'm not trying to criticize him or question his choices. This is just something that used to be on the internet that isn't anymore and I'm kind of missing these types of videos... although I wouldn't say I'm nostalgic for it. Times change and I don't really think these videos would work today... youtube has changed a lot and comedy...

Alright this was a really cute movie. It came out in 2007... and I wasn't super into the way it looked back then... but my cousins told me it was good and I just kind of want to see every Disney animated movie... so this was on my list... especially since it is on Netflix right now. And I do have to say... as an adult this is a very childish movie and there isn't a ton of jokes in there for adults to find amusing and entertaining. This isn't something I usually say as a critique... cause usually I do end up enjoying the movies anyway and this really wasn't meant for the parents to enjoy... it is for the kids. I did still find this funny and enjoyable but just know that this is a movie for little kids... and I feel like it might be easy for adults to fall asleep in the middle of it because it isn't the most interesting.  That being said though... I really loved this movie. The message about "Keep Moving Forward" was very sweet and it was an incredib...

So I'm always interested in the superbowl lead out programs and what shows have actually played after the super bowl... I was going to list them all- but there are 52 of them... and I don't know all that much about the shows that were on before I was born... so I'm just going to 1991 since that is when I was born... and I'll do a couple little mentions of some important ones.  Here  is the Wikipedia page about it... so yeah. Before Shannon Was Born...  So the first superbowl in 1968- from the looks of it aired on both CBS and NBC. CBS showed Lassie and NBC showed Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color - which is interesting because it was before ABC was owned by Disney... so tha'ts pretty cool. All in The Family, The A Team and CHIPs were other shows that I recognized. The Nightly News and 60 Minutes were in a few... plus there was another Wonderful World of Color and a few more Lassie's. So even though I did a Throwback Thursday of the Gossip Girl Pilot compared to Riverdale... I thought that I would do a review on the whole season because I just finished watching it for the second time... and I have some more feelings... so here it goes! First off, I already mentioned some things that I didn't like in my  last throwback thursday  but I wanted to talk about one other thing... slut shaming. That was like a huge plot point for the main characters in this show with Serena and especially with Blair. They show Blair fall from being Queen B because she slept with Chuck and then with Nate... but Chuck sleeps with everyone and he doesn't get in trouble at all. And the way Chuck says she's no longer attractive now that she isn't a virgin is just kind of terrible. It just reflects the misogyny of the time and I'm going to compare it to Riverdale again... where the times have changed because time's up on this crap lol. I mentioned in my Riverdale post th...

So this is kind of a different Throwback Thursday. I started watching Riverdale... and I finished it- and it reminded me of Gossip Girl- so I watched the first episode of that... and while the tone of the show is similar... the biggest differences between the two kind of have to do with when the shows were first aired... and there's definitely been some progress made since Gossip Girl ended. I'm just going to get into the big difference between the two and that is how they handle sexual harassment and assault. In the Pilot episode of Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass forces himself on Jenny Humphrey and Dan and Serena need to get her away from him... I haven't re-watched further on in the episode... but I remember Chuck kind of becoming someone I rooted for. I liked him with Blair and I wanted the two of them to be together... and he didn't really change at all to kind of warrant me rooting for him. I actually found it kind of hard to watch his parts and I fast forwarded them...

Sooo one of my favorite tv shows ever is Community. And some of my favorite episodes are these Christmas episodes! So I thought I would do a little Throwback Thursday with these episodes now that I actually have the DVD box set of every season... so I might do a Throwback Thursday of each season soon... stay tuned if you like Community... but I'm really excited to talk about these Christmas episodes! Season 1 Comparative Religion  One of the things I should say about Community is that in each season they have a class that they're all in a study group for... and the study group kind of serves as a theme for the season. The first season is Spanish to show that being a Community is kind of a foreign concept to the study group. This is a great example of how they really perfected that concept. Everyone in the study group has a different religion, and Shirley- the religious Christian of the Study Group is trying to throw a Christmas Party and get everyone into the true meaning...

Ughhhh I keep teasing the Throwback Thursdays for AHS... and they're coming... but I was going to finish watching the first season this morning... and I had a nightmare about American Horror Story... it kind of combined Tate with Kai... and it was good because Evan Peters was in it... but it was scary still... so it wasn't exactly the first thing I wanted to watch. But anyway in an attempt to watch movies more often... I saw this on demand and I was like "You know, I've never seen this movie." So I watched it and I really really liked it. It was so funny... I wish I had watched it sooner... it was great. So it's kind of based off The Lonely Island sketches and it's also pretty much a parody of Justin Bieber's movie and his career lows... Andy Samberg plays Connor4Real who was in a band with 2 of his best friends that he grew up with... I think they called that band "The Style Boyz" or something and they had some hits but then they broke u...

So I wanted to have my American Horror Story Throwbacks written before Halloween... but that didn't happen. It's hard to watch AHS like that lol. Anyway... here's my review on La La Land which is a movie that came out some time ago and I watched it just in September I think? Maybe October? I thought this movie was really good. It was kind of hard to watch because it was sad. I didn't want to see them break up... I actually started watching this movie one day and then didn't finish it until quite a few days later because I didn't want them to break up... and I could see the movie was going that way and it made me sad. Lol. I loved the chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. They both sing really well too... Gosling isn't the best singer- but he's so good looking and he's just got swagger and is right for the part. Emma Stone is pretty amazing... she definitely deserved the Oscar that she won... she's been fantastic in every role I'v...

I used to watch this movie a lot when I was little... and I've always loved the characters and the animation... but sometimes I wonder if the movie is maybe a little bit overrated... And I'm here to say: It is not! I actually think it might be a little underrated because I just had so much fun watching it. It was like 2 in the morning on my actual birthday when I decided to watch it... so maybe I was just in a really good mood or something... but I just really loved it. What a clever concept and just a fun idea for a movie... I just really liked it. I love Sally in this. She's just like a regular Teenager- but she's trying to do the right thing and tell Jack she doesn't think his Christmas is going to work out... but she has a crush on Jack and she sees how happy the Christmas thing is making him and ugh... just so complicated lol. You guys know I love Will and Grace- so I thought I'd share my top 10 moments from the show. I'm going to try to put these in some sort of order... but I think it'll be kind of hard. 10) The Guest Stars- I think it's probably impossible to even think of Will and Grace without thinking of all the amazing guest stars that they've had throughput the years. Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Minnie Driver, John Cleese, Britney Spears, Madonna, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Matt Damon, Glen Close... those are just some of the amazing guest stars they have... the one that sticks out the most of corse is Cher... Her first appearance on the show is one of the most memorable moments from watching it as a kid. Jack had no idea it was Cher, Jack's idol, and he says he can do a better Cher Impression... but he can't because it's Cher! Lol. And then he faints. A few years ago I attempted to do something I titled "The Great American Horror Story Rewatch" where I rewatched each season and the current season- which was actually Hotel at the time and talk about the similarities and differences between seasons. That did not work out... so I think over the next few weeks- or months- I'll do a Throwback Thursday of each American Horror Story Season. It will celebrate the new series Cult and Halloween... I'll be alternating between American Horror Story Throwback Thursdays and Taylor Swift because I know I won't be able to watch a full season each week... I'm a little concerned about finishing them all within this time. Maybe if I don't go on too much- I will leave a little recap of Cult somewhere at the end here too... somehow I think I'll do that separately since some weeks cult is on I won't have a Throwback Thursday for AHS... so yeah. I think I'll do some sort of post on that every week... but it migh...

After watching the new Taylor Swift Music video  (review here)  I thought I would go back and listen to some of her older songs like I did with Lady Gaga. I think I've listened to all of Taylor's cds at least once through... I know I didn't listen to her first cd and I don't think I've heard 1989 more than once... but still... I know the songs and I think she's talented! Definitely have some issues with her reactions to a joke Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made... but still. She's talented and she seems to appreciate her fanbase a lot... so that's great! Red was somewhat mentioned in the music video also... and that's what made me interested in starting here. Taylor Swift is really proud of the album and I think it's her best so far. It was still pretty country... but a good amount of pop to it too. Taylor is a great pop singer- but I think she does best with Country... I'm not a big fan of country music... but that's kind of why I like Tayl...

So this I was actually pleasantly surprised to listen to again. Artpop was my least favorite Lady Gaga cd… and honestly… idk if I can say that anymore. I liked it way more than I thought I would. I think I’ve only listened to it all the way through once before this… and I understand why… but at the same time- I’d like listening to these with all the other Gaga songs on Shuffle or something.   There’s only one song on this that I really don’t like. Jewels and Drugs is just not my thing… I didn’t really like the rap in it… I didn’t feel like there was enough Gaga on it. I also am not a fan of R.Kelly as a person… he’s a very talented singer and entertainer… I actually watched all of Trapped in The Closet… but I know he’s had some pretty bad scandals in the past… and I just can’t really support him as a person. I heard him at a club recently and I was like “I feel funny dancing to this because I don’t like R Kelly…” I’m not a club person.   Anyway other than that I reall...

So... one album of Gaga's that I use to really love... but now I have to say I'm slightly disappointed in is The Fame Monster. I'm not disappointed in it... I just think I liked it less than I realized. Two of the songs on this are very skippable... and I still like them more than a lot of songs by different singers... I can still listen  to them and like it. Those songs are "So Happy I could Die" and "Dance in The Dark." They aren't bad songs... but they're ones I just don't prefer listening to. Not sure why really... just not my things. So with those 2 being "skippable" there is also another song that I really liked at the time... but now I'm like "meh..." and that is Monster. I feel like if I'm ever super angry about a guy or something- I'll listen to this... but now I'm not particularly angry at anyone and I'm just like.... "ehhh... it's okay." So I already did my review of Born This Way... now I'm backtracking a little and doing her first CD The Fame. I think I'll do The Fame Monster next week... I listened to that also... but I still haven't listened to every song on that CD because I don't really like every song on that CD. I was kind of expecting not to like this one as much as Born This Way... but to be honest... there are songs on Born This Way that I'm just a little "meh" about... sometimes I like them- sometimes I don't... I usually don't skip them... but I wouldn't seek them out ever. On The Fame I genuinely like every single song and would probably seek them out. I think "Eh, There's Nothing Else I Can Say" is the only one I'd categorize as "a bad song"... it isn't bad... but it kind of just sounds like "Mall Pop." I could imagine hearing it in a changing room and then not buying the pair of pants. I really like the song Brown Ey...

So I just noticed this channel called Laf that has The Drew Carey Show on… pretty much all day… and I think all night they play Roseanne. I’m not sure if I even get this channel… I’m watching it at someone else’s house… but it had on The Drew Carey Show… and I was kind of excited. I don’t remember The Drew Carey show very well… I don’t think it’s available on DVD, it definitely isn’t on Netflix… maybe it’s on the ABC app… but it’s a bad show that’s pretty good in general… and I watched it as a kid- so I’m excited to watch it again.   This show is very much a product of it’s time… the jokes are kind of sexist- kind of non-pc… but at the same time kind of almost PC… the episode I have on now is about Drew standing up for his cross-dressing brother at the bar and now there are cross-dressers all in the bar…. it’s sort of a one step forward 2 steps back type of thing… I think maybe it’s 2 steps forward and one step back… but I’m not 100% sure.
