Throwback Thursday: Lady Gaga The Fame

So I already did my review of Born This Way... now I'm backtracking a little and doing her first CD The Fame. I think I'll do The Fame Monster next week... I listened to that also... but I still haven't listened to every song on that CD because I don't really like every song on that CD.

I was kind of expecting not to like this one as much as Born This Way... but to be honest... there are songs on Born This Way that I'm just a little "meh" about... sometimes I like them- sometimes I don't... I usually don't skip them... but I wouldn't seek them out ever. On The Fame I genuinely like every single song and would probably seek them out. I think "Eh, There's Nothing Else I Can Say" is the only one I'd categorize as "a bad song"... it isn't bad... but it kind of just sounds like "Mall Pop." I could imagine hearing it in a changing room and then not buying the pair of pants.

I really like the song Brown Eyes. I feel like this is a song people would talk about a lot if it was on Born This Way... but it's sort of underrated because it's on The Fame. It's a good "heartbreak" song and I listened to it A LOT in high school, and I'd probably still listen to this every time I go through a breakup. It just seems like a good "end" habit. You know?

I forgot how distinctly "hip hop" Lady Gaga's sound used to be... and then she kind of changed to her own thing. Maybe it's just me- but whenever I listen to any Gaga album- usually I'll listen to the whole album and once... and it's much more theatrical than other cds I have. Like with Born This Way... I feel like listening to that would be the equivalent of watching a movie or something. And I feel like that with pretty much all of Lady Gaga's cds... but this one is a little more generic than that. I still get that vibe from this cd... idk why really... maybe I just listened to it so much... not sure. Let me know if anyone else thinks of any cds like this. Doesn't have to be Gaga... I guess that's how you're supposed to think of music... but I don't really think about it like that with most music. Just Gaga, and maybe David Bowie.

Anyway back to the actual songs. I remember the first time I heard Just Dance. I was actually in Switzerland I think? Maybe Germany- but I'm pretty sure it was Switzerland and we turned on MTV or whatever they had there and they were showing the video for Just Dance... and it just looked like a really cool party. Gaga was dressed in a Disco Bra... it was cool. I didn't hear about her again until probably a month or so later when I was back in America and Just Dance was JUST getting popular. I discovered Lady Gaga before anyone else I knew! It's an accomplishment for Gaga fans!

And then Pokerface got popular and I feel like this is Lady Gaga's defining song. That video is more "Gaga" esque and it just is what she is. That kind of set the tone for her other albums and songs and that's when people were like "Ohhh, she's more than a singer, isn't she?" Lol.

Other favorite songs... The Fame; Beautiful, Dirty Rich; Starstruck... there are others like Boys Boys Boys and Summerboy that I used to love a lot... but this time I was more into these songs mentioned before... I feel like if I were in the mood- I'd really like those. Money Honey is good also... Like I said- I genuinely like all of these songs and would likely seek them out individually anyway or not skip them on shuffle... but yeah. I love this and it held up better than I thought it would!

That's everything!

Byeee!

Scribbles about TV: Jane The Virgin Review!

This I think is a surprise hit, so of corse I needed to watch it for myself to see! It's been getting a lot of critical buzz because it has been reviewed as "one of the best pilots of the season" and I also have been hearing a few critics saying that they don't think it will last because the word "virgin" is in the title... which is stupid. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin and if a show is good, its good and people should watch it... plus this did bring pretty high ratings for The CW so the critics that said that can suck it! Lol. Overall I really liked this show. One thing thats been bothering me a lot about the new Fall shows is that the characters aren't interesting enough. Especially the female characters. I thought that this showed a lot of really strong female characters that were interesting. This had a pretty big cast with A LOT of stuff going on for a pilot and most of the characters were female. That is a powerful thing to see on TV...

Scribbles About TV: Jane The Virgin Finale Review (SPOILERS)

So.... Can we talk about all the twists because there were a lot! I didn't even see all of them coming! Alrighty we start out in typical Jane The Virgin Mode with Jane's choice between Raphael and Michael... I'd be okay with either but I think I'm team Michael. Jane has a weird moment with Raphael and thinks she's better off without him and just having him be the father of her child. She's also starting to have some feelings for Michael again. Then she almost has the baby on the bus and some woman helps her and gets the bus driver to take her to the hospital. Rogellio and Xo are in Vegas and they get drunk and can't remember what happens, but they make it just in time to see Jane deliver a baby boy. I knew it would be a boy! Lets pause on that a little and go to Michael and his ex partner/friend with benefits who comes back says she has a lead on Sin Rostro, gives him an address where the plastic surgeon is and by the time Michael gets there, he's de...

Man Crush Monday: Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon is one of my favorite talk show hosts... and I pretty much like all the late night talk show hosts... so that is saying a lot. (I haven't actually watched James Cordin yet, but I have a huge crush on him from Into The Woods, so yeah. I also have a crush on Seth Meyer though... And all the comedy central guys... ugh. Lol. and obviously Jimmy Fallon. Lol.) So yeah... this is saying a lot that he is one of my favorites. 1) He genuinely acts like he has the most fun job in the world-  Jimmy Fallon is always really excited about the show. He pretty much does have the most fun job ever, and he actually appreciates it. He was on SNL, and when he left SNL for late night he was excited and proud of his job, and now on The Tonight Show he's very happy. 2) His Ice Cream Flavors are good- This one is completely random... but I feel like having Ben and Jerry's make an ice cream flavor after you is a really big honor and a great responsibility. You can tell a lot about a...
