The Daily Something

So this is going to be kind of a weird post for me. Back when Arrested Development first started- it was hard to find anything even sort of like it... and there were some good shows- like 30 Rock for example- that I would say "Yes if you like Arrested Development, you'll like this show." And I do LOVE 30 Rock... it might be my third favorite show of all time... BUT I don't necessarily compare it to Arrested Development anymore because... I just think they're wayyyy too different. In fact: I might do a post on "What to Watch if You Can't Get Enough Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" sometime after I review the first part of that show's (rumored) final season... so that will kind of be more 30-rock focused... Anyway back to now where I'm having a little bit of a tough time coming up with shows to recommend... but I'm going to try to come up with a good list...so yeah. 1) The Office  This is maybe the most obvious comparison on the list... I loved this show since the very first few minutes... the cast is perfect, the writing is brilliant... everything about it was just really funny and overall just great. It takes place in a rural town in South Carolina where a bisexual man who teaches poetry is the "town weirdo" and accused of murdering his wife... and could be sentenced to death with little to no evidence against him. The whole series had a lot of twists and turns and it felt a little bit like Clue... it was goofy and you laughed at everything but really... there was still a dead woman and there were a lot of suspicious people... including Larry... but in the end... it wasn't anyone... it was a bird. Do I think that was a good choice... not quite sure... lol. I thought it ended nicely... especially because it can be picked up for a second season... which I hope it is... but if it isn't picked up for another season or if they go with a different storyline next season- the end works just as well. ...

TV Land has been coming up with more and more interesting original series. I haven’t seen Younger yet… but that looks interesting. From what I’ve seen of Throwing Shade, it is AMAZING… and most recently they have this show created by Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone.  Now this one is a little bit different… I like it a lot, but whereas something like Trial and Error I can say “If you love Arrested Development and Parks and Rec, you’ll love this!” Or with Imaginary Mary… which I don’t necessarily think I mentioned in the review… but I would compare it to Lizzie McGuire or Trophy Wife… and Elfman’s character is almost reminiscent of Dharma… so if you liked Dharma, then you might like this too.  Nobodies I would recommend if you are a writer, a filmmaker… or if you just liked things before they got popular. Favorites  Sing- This is such a cute movie! I got the blu ray and watched it this week... it's just a cute little feel good movie. Not as much actual singing as I thought there would be, but all the singing is really good still. And it's just one of those cute ones! I recommend watching it!  The Most Popular Girls in School- This is a great web series... I think it was a favorite last week or a few weeks ago... but I finished it... and I'm already watching it again. It's really funny.  Trial and Error- This is a great show! I had it as a favorite last week... it still keeps getting better. Highly recommend it.  News and World Events Chuck Berry died... which is sad. He was an amazing talent and he really did invent Rock and Roll... which is the basis for so many other genres of music... it's very sad. First day of Spring Happened... so there's a thing. Favorites  The Fragoholic- This is a youtuber that does mostly celebrity  fragrance  reviews... I started watching his videos because I wanted to see a review on the Katy Perry perfumes... but I could listen to him talk about Fragrance all day. He's just  really entertaining and gives good descriptions. I've started becoming more interested in fragrance... so I think his reviews are interesting.  Trial and Error- I reviewed this  here  and I really thought it was funny. I've watched the Pilot 3 times since then, and the second episode 2 times since it aired. It's a great show...  the  cast is perfect and the plot is just great. I'm a fan!  Beauty and The Beast- I really liked this movie. It has been my favorite Disney live action remake so far I think. I'll have a review of this on Tuesday, but I loved it. So I've been excited about this show since I first heard about it... It looks like Arrested Development but with Murder... and I would say there's a lot of Parks and Rec in it as well... which I wasn't expecting... So this Pilot had everything that I love. Funny cast... nonstop jokes... very very dark humor... and the #1 thing on my loves list of shows: A SMALL RURAL TOWN! I never really realized how important the small town vibe was to me... but I'm writing something now and I've been watching Friends and Crazy Ex Girlfriend... and there's a big difference between the Manhattan setting of Friends vs West Covina, California- which is of corse the setting of Crazy Ex Girlfriend.... but yeah. Each setting is fitting for each show... and really this small, rural town in South Carolina is PERFECT for this murder mystery comedy.
