Scribbles About TV: Trial and Error Review

So I've been excited about this show since I first heard about it... It looks like Arrested Development but with Murder... and I would say there's a lot of Parks and Rec in it as well... which I wasn't expecting...

So this Pilot had everything that I love. Funny cast... nonstop jokes... very very dark humor... and the #1 thing on my loves list of shows: A SMALL RURAL TOWN! I never really realized how important the small town vibe was to me... but I'm writing something now and I've been watching Friends and Crazy Ex Girlfriend... and there's a big difference between the Manhattan setting of Friends vs West Covina, California- which is of corse the setting of Crazy Ex Girlfriend.... but yeah. Each setting is fitting for each show... and really this small, rural town in South Carolina is PERFECT for this murder mystery comedy.

So yeah all of those elements were great... but the characters are also hilarious for this. The lawyer is sort of the main character in this- he's basically a normal guy from new york that's kind of inexperienced. Duane Reed is the investigator... I'm pretty sure the guy that plays him is a stand up comedian known for having a more clean act? Not totally sure but he's really funny in this. Sherri Shepherd plays the legal assistant... who has basically every disorder one could have. Jayma Mays is the prosecution lawyer and she is soooo funny and perfect in this. John Lithgow is great because you don't really know how to read him... is he guilty? Is he innocent? I want to think he's innocent... but idk. His daughter on the show is good too... I'm wondering if she's the killer? Could be anyone... I had a few different theories in the episode.  Andy Daily was on as a guest too... he was great! I would love if he were a regular... he doesn't really need to be... but he was amazing! He had a compulsive habit that was... inconvenient for his job.

So aside from being very dark... it's also very wacky. It reminds me of things like Clue and Murder by Death and those types of movies that I always say I WISH that they would remake... it's sort of the same reasons why I like Scream Queens. It is really really dark... but it is wayyyy funnier than it is dark.

So yeah... it was all kind of absolutely perfect. Great satire of something that is such a big thing in pop culture right now... and it sort of combines ALL of my favorite genres in the best way possible. I'm really excited to see where this is going and to watch the rest of it... it's probably going to become a favorite show of mine.

Byee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
