APPyness: New Harry Potter Interactive Game Review

So for a little over a week I would say I've been playing the new Harry Potter: A Hogwarts Mystery game. And I think it's pretty fun. It's a lot of just clicking and going to different places at different times... but I think it's pretty fun and it is a good way to feel like you are a part of the Wizarding World and you get to know the Professors pretty well. So far, I like Flitwick and Snape is really pretty scary. I'm guessing the story is the same for everyone... but you do get to choose your house... I chose Ravenclaw. Basically your character has a brother that got expelled from Hogwarts and vanished suddenly... many students saying that he went insane... and one girl even bullies you because of it... and you are trying to figure out what exactly happened to your brother, what sort of secrets are hidden at Hogwarts... plus you need to defend yourself and your friends from this bully... all while learning your regular subjects... it's quite a lot for an 11...

Throwback Thursday: Starkid's A Very Potter Musical!

I mentioned a little while ago that I'm getting a little bit more interested in the Starkid musicals right now... mostly because I just really like musicals and I love the accessibility of having an entire musical right on youtube. Especially since so many of them are based off of things that I already have an interest in like Harry Potter, Aladdin... I think they have a Batman one and a Star Wars one now. All pretty cool! I haven't seen the Batman or Star Wars one... but they are just really great musicals about some really cool things. This was my favorite when I was in High School. I think I liked the sequel a little bit better... but this one is really funny too. They have Voldemort and Quirrel as "Odd Couple" type roommates and Harry as this Jock type guy that's kind of a jerk. Cho Chang is a Southern Bell, Cederick Diggory is kind of an idiot that's super proud of Hufflepuff "Finding" pride. Dumbledore is sort of a burnt-out teacher... it...

Scribbles About Movies: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Alright last day before Blogmas! This is exciting! I don't have much ready for Blogmas on this blog yet, not even going to lie. Lol. Anyway... Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them! I wasn't really expecting this movie to be amazing. I kind of had a low bar set because even though it is in the same world as Harry Potter, and its fun to go back to the Wizarding World... but its not Harry Potter. It wouldn't be the same, it wouldn't feel the same... its not the same. 5 movies is going to be too much, it just won't be as good. And I was SOOOOOOO happy that I was proven wrong! This feels more like Harry Potter to me than a lot of the Harry Potter movies. And I think thats because JK Rowling actually wrote the screenplay for this movie and she's writing/ has written the screenplays for the other movies as well! So that gives me high hopes for the future of these movies. There is also nothing to compare the movie to. The book didn't really have a plot......

Tag Tuesday:25 Bookish Questions

1) Do You Get Sick While Reading in A Car? No, I like reading on trains a lot.  2) Which Author's Style is Unique To You And Why?  JK Rowling. I know everyone would probably say the same thing... but everything she writes is a little different... but you can tell its the same voice. Its just very interesting to me.  3) Harry Potter Series or Twilight Saga: Give 3 Points to Defend Your Answer!  This shouldn't even be a question... Harry Potter hands down 1) JK Rowling didn't just create a book and characters with the Harry Potter series, she created an entire world and mythology to go along with it. 2) The characters in Harry Potter are very strong and fight for the people they love... and even for their enemies and rivals. Snape died for Harry Potter, who he resented quite deeply... in Twilight no one would die for Jacob... nor should they. 3) I don't think that books would even be that popular if it weren't for Harry Potter. If Harry ...

Scribbles About Books: Harry Potter and The Cursed Child

So this book/screenplay just came out on Harry Potter's Birthday and I was really excited to read it. I haven't actually read all of the Harry Potter books... but with Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, there is so much story to be told there. And JK Rowling has said this will be the end of Harry Potter... and Idk how I feel about that to be honest. On one hand: I liked the way that the last Harry Potter book ended and I'm happy that they aren't going to continue it too much. I feel like a lot of things that continue the story after the fact kind of change the ending of what you originally liked too much. For example: American Horror Story... I didn't like when they brought Queenie back this season and (spoilers) killed her off because that changed the ending of Coven and now that kind of lessens that season a little. I know many people didn't like Coven much... but I wanted all the characters to live and I don't think that added to the story (the way tha...

Why Spoilers Suck (*INSIDE OUT SPOILERS* *HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY SPOILERS* *HARRY POTTER SPOILERS* BREAKING BAD SPOILERS** LORD OF THE RINGS SPOILERS* )

Alrighty... so here is a little sort of half rant... but mostly just factual 100% accurate information on why spoilers really really suck. I don't like seeing movies on opening night. Especially big movies like Star Wars. That doesn't mean I'm not into the hype... I'm just not into seeing movies at midnight in a tiny theater where people probably fart a lot. My movie theater doesn't have many seats, so the only option to really get a seat is to use fandango... which I don't mind... but still. Its just another thing. And I know there are a lot of people like me out there. Maybe you liked the movies when you were a kid, maybe you haven't seen them since you were a kid and maybe you want to re-watch them before a new one comes out. Maybe you never saw the movies but want to know what the fuss is about... maybe you have other things to do and just can't get to the movies right away... thats fine... So don't spoil it! I feel like this is becoming...

5 Movies/TV Shows I think Deserve Reboots

So it seems like movies are getting re-booted every few minutes. Whether it be like 500 versions of Spiderman or some classic TV movie reboots that are in the works or a sequel to an old classic... some of these don't quite deserve to be rebooted... but there are a few I think really deserve another reboot or a sequel or something extra. The movies might have been good, but I don't think they all did them just right... so for that... here's some reboot ideas. 1) Get Smart- I didn't dislike the Steve Carell/ Anne Hathaway movie that came out a few years ago... but I feel like when you're re-booting a movie that already has a really funny and exciting source material it can be a little bit tricky. There were talks of a sequel... but I think they could do it a little better. I can imagine Jonah Hill writing it and Maybe Joel McHale or Ty Burrel for Maxwell and for Agent 99 I could see Abbi Jacobsen, Emma Stone, Amy Adams, Isla Fisher or Jenna Fisher. Maybe even Zooey...

This Week in Geek: Nerdy News

So last week I did This Week in Sexism as a different spin on my Scribbles about news... this week I'm gonna go with some nerdier items of the news. These aren't all news stories... some of them are just thoughts I have based on some things... but its all nerd related things that are relevant right now... so yeah. 1) Aquarius and X Files- I know Aquarius debuts this week... and I'm excited. Love me some David Duchovney, love a good murder mystery... and Charles Manson.... seems like a good recipe for a tv series right! But Idk... I don't totally want it to just be a mini series... I kind of want David Duchovney to continue being a detective on a murder mystery show... it seems good to me! Now I may post my review on Aquarius before this... so it could be really bad... but I think I'd rather have more Aquarius instead of more X Files... Also... I'm just confused as to why they're bringing it back to tv... mostly because they already did a second movie...w...

Stuff that happened this week (7/6-7/12)

1) Crumbs Crumbles- this is really sad news for me. My favorite cupcake bakery Crumbs has gone bankrupt and they've already shut down all of their stores. They literally JUST opened one up at the fancier mall near me last summer and I was so sooo happy! They also just started making their own Cronuts... Which are delicious! This is what happens to these trendy type of food places. They do really well for a while and then they open up too many and everyone gets sick of them and they stop going there. And it's sad because I still like them and I want Cronuts!!!! Lol 2) Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are expecting their first child- This makes me more happy! They are just so beautiful together and their kid is going to be the most gorgeous creature on the face of the earth! I hope NY&CO starts making Eva Mendes maternity clothes in their Eva Mendes collection! I bet more people will be buying her stuff thinking it will make Ryan Gosling impregnate them. Lol! This is happy news ...

Top 5 Friday: Top 5 Things about cleaning my room and

So I just posted a blog about how I cleaned my room and now I thought I would talk about some odd things that I found or did or learned in the process. These are in no order really. 1) Sequins from my Junior Prom Dress- so for my junior prom, I wore this beautiful black dress with black sequins all around it. I still absolutely love this dress, if I ever have to go to some event in the next few years, like an Emmys or some sort of writing thing, I'll probably wear this until I become like super super famous. It's just an amazing dress... I'd probably have to do a huge diet to fit in it, but that's neither here nor there... Anyway the dress came with a bag of extra sequins... Guess who found that sequins when everything was just about clean? Shannon did! So it kind of got everywhere. I noticed it on my foot and I didn't know if that was from my prom dress or my sparkly uggs. Prom dress apparently and there have been a few black sequins I've spotted around the h...
