Throwback Thursday: Starkid's A Very Potter Musical!

I mentioned a little while ago that I'm getting a little bit more interested in the Starkid musicals right now... mostly because I just really like musicals and I love the accessibility of having an entire musical right on youtube. Especially since so many of them are based off of things that I already have an interest in like Harry Potter, Aladdin... I think they have a Batman one and a Star Wars one now. All pretty cool! I haven't seen the Batman or Star Wars one... but they are just really great musicals about some really cool things.

This was my favorite when I was in High School. I think I liked the sequel a little bit better... but this one is really funny too. They have Voldemort and Quirrel as "Odd Couple" type roommates and Harry as this Jock type guy that's kind of a jerk. Cho Chang is a Southern Bell, Cederick Diggory is kind of an idiot that's super proud of Hufflepuff "Finding" pride. Dumbledore is sort of a burnt-out teacher... it's just really funny the way that they depict the characters.

There are lots of kind of topical jokes of the time... I thought maybe those wouldn't age well 7 years after... but they still worked really well! There was a Zac Effron poster in Dumbledore's office. Voldemort reviewed 17 Again... just little things like that. It was pretty well balanced in the fact that they didn't do too many of those jokes, but they did enough to make it funny for the time. I really appreciated that. It was just kind of little something different without being overly "This is soooo 2009" jokes.

The cast is all really talented too. Darren Criss sort of got his start in this musical. The rest of the cast is really funny too. They aren't necessarily "Stars" outside of the Starkid world... but the Starkid musicals have a good fan base that makes them big stars anyway! Particularly think the actress that plays Malfoy is really funny and the guy that plays Voldemort. They're in all the Starkid musicals I think and they are awesome and funny in each one. Malfoy is maybe even more funny in A Very Potter Sequel.

If you like Harry Potter, and you like things that sort of poke fun at it...this is great for you!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
