Chart Chat 2.17.17

10) Sing- Still in the top 10! Still can't wait to see this movie eventually... probably on DVD... but still! This soundtrack is amazing and I just really like Illumination movies. I guess I've only ever seen Despicable Me, Minions and Hop... but I think they've got some great, original cartoon ideas and I think they are just as good as Disney... maybe not as good as Pixar... but more fun to watch I think.

9) Lion- Dev Patel! Nicole Kidman! What is not to love with this movie! They actually had the man that's story is portrayed in this movie on CBS This Morning... didn't hear the whole interview... but I still think it's a great story and I want to see it.

8) La La Land- This movie looks great! Musicals, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling... a love story. Really I just want to see this movie because I want to listen to the soundtrack... I bet its amazing... but I don't really want any spoilers!

7) Rings- This looks interesting to me. I don't watch Horror movies too often and I liked the original Ring movies... but they were kind of the same movies and I was kind of half laughing at it... so it isn't something I'm very into or that I take very seriously... but this looks like a fresh take on the franchise and definitely a scary update that shows the world today. If you're ever out in public when your phone gives alarms... you know how weird and freaky the idea of The Ring video playing on a plane is!

6) A Dog's Purpose- I'm actually seeing this today! I probably already saw it by the time this is posted. I'll have a review on it on Monday I think... so hopefully its pretty good! I'm excited about it! I was just going to watch it on TV... but it doesn't look like the controversy surrounding it is real and it does look like a cute movie with a good message... and my friends want to see it and they agree with me that the TMZ video didn't look like an accurate representation. So... we'll see.

5) Hidden Figures- This movie looks great too! I think I might try to buy the book next time I see it because I want to know the whole story with all the details... I'm sure the movie shows it all... but still I think it looks like something to read the book of... especially because it is an untold story that should have been told long, long ago. And I love the name of the movie: Hidden Figures. Because of Math and because of them actually being historically hidden figures... it's so so clever.

4) Split- My friend saw this movie and she said it was really really great. I've kind of gone on rants about it before and said idk if this is how they should really be portraying mental illness... but she said she thought it was more awareness of this disease than anything... it is a rare disease... I just feel like because it is so rare it should be something that there is awareness of and that it should be handled respectfully.

3) John Wick Chapter 2- Keanu Reeves! I think Keanu is a great actor... I don't care what anyone says. I have no real interest in John Wick at all... but who knows. Maybe I will one day.

2) Fifty Shades Darker- I'm shocked that this is #2 on the charts this week... but really proud of what beat the movie out. I've heard some bad reviews about this movie... Sandy Kenyon said that people were cracking up throughout the movie... I think I watched the first movie in frustration and some funny faces... and I didn't realize it was the end of the movie because nothing really happened yet- went to the bathroom and missed the very end. The first movie, not this one. I did kind of like the first one still... just it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... this looked a little better based on the commercials... but apparently it is way worse.

1) The Lego Batman Movie- Yayyy! Lego Batman movie FTW! I thought 50 shades would be #1 for sure... but I guess it is harder for an R rated movie and this just looks great for all ages. I want to see it. The Lego movies are just really fun. They poke fun at the original material and they're just so good. I liked the original Lego movie, and I also watched the Lego Frozen movie from Disney... and I only half watched it really... but it was pretty funny! This looks even better than all of those!

That is it for this week! I really like doing these chart chats even though I haven't seen many movies lately... it just all looks really good to me. I'm excited to let you know about the movies that I do see and I'll keep doing these Chart Chats because I think it's interesting.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
