Scribbles About TV: The Santa Clarita Diet Review *Spoilers?*

Breaking this into 2 parts... one after I've just watched the Pilot and a little bit of Episode 2... and One once I've finished the series because I have some Predictions about what's going to happen after the pilot... so yeah. There will be some spoilers in here.

After The Pilot
I really liked this. I can tell this is going to be kind of a slower season though... and that is kind of what I expected. I think the full trailer gave a little bit too much information. We know that she's going to kill bad people and eat them from the trailer... but I think it takes the characters a while to figure it out... so that's what I think is making it a little slower.

I think the characters are great... I like that there really aren't too many characters in the first episode at least. It just kind of works well for the show in my opinion. I love Drew Barrymore, so I'm always happy to watch her in something. It's funny that she's a vegan and she's playing a zombie... but Hollywood, right?

My prediction: Her husband was trying to kill her. He was happy when he thought that she died and he freaks out over the fact that she's still alive... I also think she's going to eat him. Maybe not... but that is my prediction for now because I think he's a bad guy. Maybe not in this season... but I think it might happen.

I'm also going to watch while eating a BLT sandwich... so hopefully I can do that...

The Rest of the Series...
I was expecting to finish this in a few days or so... but I couldn't wait that long! Not good with suspense!

Spoilers: I was totally wrong about the husband... it seems for now. Maybe it'll come up in a later season... maybe he just froze because he was too scared to do anything... but I liked him. I thought all the characters had a really strong arc. Shelia's moods kept changing, Joel was scared at the beginning... but then he got braver... it was just a really strong arc. I thought it was going to be this basic, predictable storyline.... but it really wasn't. I know I said I kept watching for the suspense... but it wasn't even all that suspenseful or gory even... it was kind of a good mix of dark and funny and whimsical...

Also Drew Barrymore was kinda perfect because publicly, she is kind of a hippie and that's sort of how she played a Zombie. She didn't want to kill, she didn't want to waste any part of anybody... but she did what she had to do in the way she thought was best. And that was kind of cool just to see a zombie so modern like that.

When I saw the beginning of the show I immediately thought of Weeds, and I would pace the suspense that way too. Like the first couple of seasons before it got a little too ridiculous... but back when a lot of stuff was going on... it made sense. And an average housewife doing bad things... it was just sort of similar to Weeds... so I think if you liked the pace of the first season of Weeds... you'll like this. It's very exciting.

The way the show ended was not... what I was expecting and it was sort of open-ended and I think it really worked for that. It left off very creepy on a show that made being a zombie look kind of adorable. It wasn't glorifying it or anything, everyone was an anti-hero... but it's like if Jess from New Girl was a zombie... only she's a little more of a rich hippy than that. So that was kind of fun to see it all really really go downhill at the end.

And it's funny that at some points it was like a very serious Dexter type of show and then sometimes it just stopped that and it was like Growing Pains or a regular teen show. There was a lot of great comic relief to distract from the fact that they were eating people but... everything about the show was well-paced and well timed. All the funny moments were right on time and the scarier moments were too.

If you were going to watch this show expecting it to be a Horror show or something more Dexter like... I don't think you'll love it. They don't even really kill that many people on it... I don't even know if I would say this is as dark as something like Scream Queens... maybe because there wasn't really a mystery going on just sort of a "What's going to happen next" thing.

Overall I really enjoyed it! I'd like to see more seasons... so far they are off to a good start! Not for everyone... but I really liked it!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
