Summer Bucket List: How'd I do?

Alright... so  here  is a list of my summer bucket list... and this is what I actually did! DID I GO OUTSIDE?  I was outside enough for my liking I think. I'm not an outdoors person- but I can go outside and appreciate it. I went in the pool a few times, I enjoyed any moments I had outside...but I didn't go outside for an hour every day because realistically I wouldn't like that and that is just sort of an idea I got from Prison. Lol. DID I READ MORE???  Kinnnnnnddddd of. This is something I still need to work on. I'm in a book club now that is a minimum effort book club... so that's definitely something that won't be too hard to keep up with. I read a few kids graphic novels and I started some books... but I need to read some more and finish them. It is definitely something I want to read- as well as some other Stephen King books... he's interesting lol. I'm excited to read some spooky books in the fall. DID I GO ON FAMILY ADVENTURES???  Yes...

Toy Story Tuesday: Toy Story 1

So I mentioned Toy Story 3 being one of my favorite movies of all time... and I'm not sure it's better than the first movie... and I'm not sure the second movie isn't better than the first either... so yeah. I guess I'm just going to dive into all of these movies and we'll go over what's the best and why each of them are amazing on their own anyway! And I do love all of these movies individually... but they definitely do all play better as a trilogy than individual movies. If Pixar decided not to make another Toy Story movie after the first one... I don't think the story would be told. And although I was 18 when Toy Story 3 came out... I feel like that was the perfect completion to the story. And I know they're making or trying to make a Toy Story 4... I have a feeling there's still more story to tell and I'm excited for it. I know most people are skeptical because Toy Story 3 was amazing... but I'm trying to keep an open mind about Toy...

True Story: The Stress of De-stressing

Okay... so this is a pretty funny story... that really happened to me a few minutes ago while I was trying to come up with blog ideas. Okay so recently I started subscribing to a youtube channel called "The Honest Guys." They are known for making meditation videos and playing relaxing music. I actually found them trying to find ambient noises while writing. I like thunderstorms and city sounds... and I found one of theirs and I liked it. Since then I've listened to a few of their meditation videos from time to time. I'll listen to their sleep talk downs and their headache healing video has been really helpful for me when I have headaches. Anyway I saw that they had a new video that was a 9 minute fantasy meditation for busy people and I thought "Okay" Because I don't usually commit enough to hear their longer videos. Lol. So I started listening to it and they said that this meditation was from a particular album of theirs called Gateways to Se...

February 2nd 1:45AM New Blogging Style, Late Night Thoughts, KFC Bowls, Cleaning and TV

Sooo happy Groundhog Day! Is there an all day marathon of the movie Groundhog day on some channel? There probably is and if there isn't this should be a thing and maybe I will actually watch it for the first time today. This is kind of a different blog for me... and I kind of want to introduce it but at the same time not introduce it... if that makes sense? It doesn't... so I'm going to kind of explain this anyway. So I was trying to think of ideas of actual books I want to write, movies I want to write... there's a short story I would love to make into a novel but now I'm thinking "Maybe I'm just too attached to this story and I need not to write it and just leave it as a short story... I don't know... it's something I wrote in creative writing in college... so I'm sure it isn't as good as I think it is... but it has potential and I need to do something more with that... or something more with writing in general... because mainly what I...

Journaling: The Best Thing Ever? Creativity, Writing Stuff!

So this is something I kind of love doing and I never really realized how much I really love just writing something down every day… whether it’s what happened to me during the day, my thoughts and feelings, how I felt during the day… what I’m going to do tomorrow… just little things like that.   Lately I haven’t really been writing a personal journal for myself. I keep a mood log in my bullet journal and I write what I’ve been doing my weekly wrap up on this blog… which I think of as kind of a journal formatted for the public… it’s nice… but I can’t really tell any personal stories when I do that and I like being a little bit more personal… so I think I’m going to make time for myself to just unwind and write a little bit about my day.   I had a loss in my family recently… which is very sad… but I was able to write down some memories and something that had a lot of meaning to me that is kind of hard to tell people   and it just feels really nice that I have that ...

Creative Process- 5 Creative Tips and Tricks

Today I've just been having a really creative day today... and I feel like I've kind of noticed why. If you want to know about beauty products that have helped me think a little more creatively  I posted THIS blog on my Beauty Blog a While Ago . But... yeah. On with the things I liked about it. 1) Sit in the back seat of a car- There's something kind of childlike about sitting in the back seat of a car that just kind of gets my wheels turning... and I did that tonight. It wasn't a super long drive, but it was long enough to kind of see everything... and I passed a lot of interesting things. There's my regular hometown, new restaurants that are busy, old iconic restaurants that have closed down, shopping complexes, an abandoned shopping complex, things that used to be something completely different than what they are now, places that I knew bad things have happened... it's just kind of funny how big a relatively small area feels from just observing things in th...

Shannon Does Stuff April: I Stick to a Schedule!

Shannon Does Stuff: April- I write and stick to a schedule!  Alright… this is going to be a kind of weird one… but I’m going to try to have some sort of writing schedule and daily schedule for things I’m working on other than blogs. So… let’s say something like I I want to watch the new Ghostbusters movie and the Extended Version is 134 minutes… so I want to write for this project for at least 134 minutes… That’s probably not going to be the case every day… but that’s what I want to do for weekdays at least.  April 1st- I didn’t really start this weekend… I did probably work on my blog a little bit… I think I specifically did a lot of stuff for my Scribbles About Feminism Blog… which is hard to write for and the least fun one… so that was good! I need to figure out when to do the blogs and Instagram along with the other thing I’m working on…so that’s where the time management thing is coming in handy.  April 2nd- I think I wrote some for my beauty blog and a ...

Out of Blog Ideas...

Soooo I didn't really write enough to do a Scribbles! this week... and I don't really take enough pictures for it... and I'm kind of stumped as to what to write about... so yeah?  Today I had a sort of lazy day and I bingewatched Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Didn't realize the season finale was next week... that sort of always happens to me with this show... which is okay I guess... but it's upsetting. I like bingewatching though and yeah.  Anyway I feel slightly less interested in blogging... and this just happened overnight... where I was like "wow... don't really know what I want to do with my blog or my beauty blog." And I like doing both and I like posting on both blogs daily... but at the same time... Not quite sure what else to talk about sometimes. And it's not like I'm going to quit the blog or anything... because I still do really like these blogs and I think that I've been kind of proud of what I'm posting lately... and I stil...

I started Meditating? Here's what happened!

So I started meditating kind of by accident. Did I tell the weird story about meditation the other day? That will be another post if I didn't.... cause last Wednesday was a weird day aside from the obvious reasons. Anyway, for whatever reason I was looking up Spa Sounds and I found a youtube page called "The Honest Guys" and they had a pretty video going through clouds and that was good... but it was 3 hours and I don't think that's my thing. Then I found  this  video and decided to use it... so I did, and I came up with a cute little story kind of... it isn't finished, but there were characters and there was something to go by with the story. Its a start. I wrote it down in my notebook after and I got a little bit further in writing it. Its a good way to start doing something, so if you're looking to start writing something... even if you don't know what to write about... I'd recommend a guided meditation. There was something else like this I ...

The "I'll get to it later" Problem

So this is procrastinating in a totally new form... its just wanting to do something and then just being like "I'll get to it later" or "I'll do it after I do this" or "Meh. Someday." Procrastination to me is just like when I was in college and I waited until the very last minute to study or to write papers. I would always do wayyy better on the papers I wrote last minute... and i would honestly have wayyy more fun writing them. Something about just thinking on your feet and writing on it just made me go "Yes. I am brilliant." And that was really quite fun. But the "I'll get to it later" problem is a lot different. Like sometime before my sister's wedding I got the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD and I wanted to watch them and do a Throwback Thursday on them... but then I wanted to make sure my room was clean first and then I wanted to re-read the Harry Potter series and do a Throwback Thursday on that... but I sti...

What's Up Wednesday: 8.31.16

I woke up today not feeling so great... I feel like a lot of these What's Up Wednesday have some gross part... apparently gross stuff happens on the one day of the week I log my life... hmm. My dog... you know what. Nevermind. We don't need to talk about what happened with my dog... because its also my job to monitor the gross stuff... just note that there were some gross things involving my dog today and that happened. I was TIRED this morning. Partially from not feeling well... maybe also from watching Aladdin late last night... which I won't even have a Throwback Thursday of until January... so thats a thing coming up soon. But I slept in most of the day. I think I had a bad dream and kind of a good dream. The bad dream was exciting though because it was basically the movie Poltergeist... which sounds scary but that movies more "the fun kind of scary" than actually scary. That's a scary movie you could watch as a family I think. The original Poltergeist...

Life Hacks: Shannon Edition

Here are some fun tips that I call my "adult life hacks" and then some more... real life ones. Lol. Its not much... but yeah. The Grown Up Way To Get Chicken Fingers  If you're at a restaurant, ask for fried chicken in your salad... that way Bam: Chicken fingers for dinner! Adult Hack!  The Grown Up Way To Have Chips and Dip for dinner  "Potato Chip encrusted Salmon with a dill-sour cream dressing" -is what the menu read. What Shannon read was "Here is chips and dip, with salmon." Life= Hacked!  Sunglasses Holder  This one I'm actually pretty proud of. I have a lot of sunglasses and I always have trouble storing it... but I have this little cubby in my room that has little like shingles on the door i guess? Idk how to phrase that but there are like spaces in between... like how a lot of closet doors are. Anyway I stuck the sunglasses inside of the cubby on the spaces... so yeah. Life Hack! I'll try to show a picture.  Ba...

New Year's Resolutions:2016

So I'm kind of good at keeping goals when I really set them and work hard for them... and that's a thing I'm going to still work on.  So first off the weight thing... I'm gonna try to be better at that... maybe not try too hard... I'm comfortable with myself and honestly if I try too hard, I'm just going to drive myself crazy... but if I don't try I'm just going to give up and gain a lot more weight... and I don't want to do that. I like thinking of it more as Building confidence than losing weight... cause really it is a good way to build confidence. Its not like a huge life changing commitment type of thing... but when you are about my weight and about my height... it makes sense to see the success of yourself on yourself. Idk thats the only way I can describe it... but yeah.  I also want to get at least close to 10,000 steps every day. I'd love to get 10,000 steps every day of the year... but that probably won't happen. I'm almo...

5 Things You Shouldn't Say To Writers

I feel like there are certain jobs you can want to do and majors you can have that people will just flat out criticize you for. Right to your face, and in inconvenient places. Writing is one of those things. 1) Ohhh you should think about teaching too- This is how the conversation always goes.  "Ohhh you're in college what are you majoring in" "English" "Ohhh so you want to be a teacher" "No I want to be a writer." 1) There are LOTS of things you can do with an English degree... and I'm going to play the feminism card here and say that because I'm a woman people assume I want to teach when I say I'm an English Major. There is nothing wrong with teaching, but that isn't the only thing you can do with an English Degree. You can write, you can teach, you can be a lawyer, a lot of famous actors are english majors. Also the reason I'm posting about this is one specific instance where someone mentioned that I should try teachi...

How- To-sday: How To Be a Better Blogger

Heyyy everyone. So lately I've been kind of crazy busy and I've been trying to organize this blog a little bit better, and I feel like I'm becoming a better blogger because of it. I'm sort of just starting to get organized now, I'm writing this at the beginning of May and not posting it till the end of May to see how I did. 1) Have Themes- I have to say, my themed days have made blogging a lot easier for me. I love Man Crush Mondays, Woman Crush Wednesdays and Feeling Lovely Fridays because I know what I will have that day every week. It's just a nice thing to know that I have something to post on those days. Having other themes that aren't necessarily on a certain day is good too. I like doing my Appyness posts, my Stuff that Happened this week, I've been starting Scribbles about news, Charty Charts or Trendy Trends or whatever I call it, It lists, Scribbles about dreams, mini movie reviews and trailer reviews... it's just fun to have themes for w...

I really want to try to blog everyday...

BUT I am a college student and an English major at that... which a lot of people think means you have a lot of free time because you don't have to study for exams... thats complete shit because I do have actual exams that are like legit "you need to know this information and who said these quotes and to who about what" type of things as well as millions and billions of papers. And I really like writing, especially these scribbles about life, but every once and a while I just want to do absolutely nothing but watch tv all day. Which I think I've earned. Anyway I do have a lot of stuff to do next week, but I'm going to try to budget my time a little better. I can now wake up early and stay awake for the most part, which is half the struggle of being a college student. Anyway that's all for now. I may try to save some blogs for while I feel like it right now so that I have some when I'm lazy. Don't hate me for that! Byeee!
