The ABC's of Me: My Life in 26 Letters and brief summaries of my years

Okay... so I feel like I'm late on this... but last year on my birthday my High School Algebra Teacher commented saying "Happy Alphabet Birthday" and I thought Ohhhhhhh that's cool I'm 26 there are 26 letters in the alphabet... that's cool... and right now it's actually June 12th at 11:51pm so it's almost my mom's birthday and I thought "HEY I'll post talking about my years for my blog and post it right before my 27th birthday that way it's still relevant! So here we go- let's talk about the years and what I did and I'll try to have a little bit of a One Word description with the letter correspondence to sum up the year.  It'll make sense once I do it. I'm also going to be a little vague on the situations that happen... but I'll try being kind of open about what happens... so yeah. Some real life people might be mentioned in this... I'll never mention anyone by name and I'm sure if I say anything negative ...

Scribbles About Songs: All Your Favorite Bands by Dawes

So I heard this song on the radio once, on the radio station my dad listens to... which I don't normally like... but this song kind of spoke to me. I feel like this song to me is what Hello by Adele is to most people. I feel like maybe because of my age and my life experiences this song makes me feel things and Hello doesn't totally make me feel things... but this one makes me miss people and things. And like he's saying that he hopes everything works out for whoever he's singing the song to... but its not like he's wishing her anything amazing. Just kind of simple things that seem like the worst things that could possibly happen when you're in high school, but then when you're a grown up... the things happen and you barely blink an eye. One of the lines is "I hope that all your favorite bands stay together." And that's a big thing for me right now. When I was in high school, Fall Out Boy, Panic at The Disco, Cobra Starship, The Academy i...

Shannon Tries to Adult Good: Progress? and Learning?

In my last "adult good" post, I mentioned what I thought a grown up was and how I could kind of get on that way to becoming a grown up... and while I haven't necessarily done any of the grown up things on the list... some of the "things grown ups shouldn't do" I have kind of stopped doing, or at least doing less of... or improving to make it more of a grown up thing to do.  Here  is my first post if you want to read it... its pretty funny.  One thing I put on the list is to take advice from people other than Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling or something along those lines... Thats stupid advice. How can I grow up good when I want to be like those ladies when I grow up? I mean I know Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope are fictional characters. That isn't who Tina or Amy are in real life... but I can still totally use their life advice. I've been reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler and I actually started keeping a little journal with some things in m...

Shannon tries to adult good #1- What is a grown-up?

Soooo... I feel like I am not qualified to explain what a grown up is... But I should be one by now right? I'm 23 years old, dammit! I've technically been a grown up for... 6 years! I use an ellipsis there because I actually had to count on my fingers 18, 19, 20, 21,22,23. And then I had to google how to spell ellipsis! So non grown up! Well okay, I know what ellipsis means. I understand how to use it, where to use it and that its only three dots instead of multiple, no matter how long the pause is. That is kind of mature. So what is wrong with me? Why do I not feel like a grown up? What is a grown up? Well, one thing might be the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" This is something I've kind of always known the answer too, but its varied a lot. I've wanted to be a singer, an actress, a writer, a pirate, Batman but a girl, a princess and more specifically a comedian, comedy writer and the next Tina Fey... As of right now I'm kind of no...
