Woman Crush Wednesday: Rebecca Bunch AKA The Crazy Ex Girlfriend

So even though this show just started, its main character is already WCW worthy... so yeah! 1) She does what makes her happy- Rebecca didn't take her high paying job because she wasn't happy with it and she moved to West Covina because it just seemed like the type of place that would make her happy... and Josh just happens to live there. She knows what would make her happy and she just went for it. 2) She genuinely wants to be everyone's friend- In the first episode her new best friend (I forget her name... ugh) didn't like her very much until the end of the episode and she bonded with her really quickly. And then she became friends with Valencia, not just because she wanted to undermine her to get Josh, but because she thought they could be friends and go to vampire weekends together (that was one of my favorite jokes.) And she also wants to be friends with Josh, not just because she's in love with him, but the two really should be friends right? She's tryi...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Miss Piggy

When I grow up I want to be like Miss Piggy.  1) She's all about her fans- I can't believe Kermit broke up with her just because she was signing autographs with her fans! So selfish! Piggy really values her fans and followers and doesn't mind missing Pitch Perfect 2 in order to take a few pictures and sign a few autographs and I think that is inspiring.  2) She's totally professional with her ex- She really does not let her relationship with Kermit get in the way of her career! If anything, its made her stronger and more successful! Up Late With Miss Piggy gets all the best guests and she's the only female late night talk show host... even if it is just the plot of a fictional tv show... it makes sense!  3) She doesn't let men take credit for her success- She didn't let Josh Groban take credit for Up Late With Miss Piggy! She put him in his place and said "Heyyy, this is my show I do it my way and you're name isn't on it!" And ba...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Jemma Simmons from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

So I just finished the episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D called FZZT which mainly focuses around Jemma Simmons from the Fitz-Simmons dream team of scientists in S.H.I.E.L.D. She really isn't the main character of the show or anything, but she's a really great character, and here are some things I like about her. 1) She's the smartest person in the room- In a room filled with brilliant agents and really strong and daring people... she's definitely the smartest person in the room all the time... which is impressive. She is kind of the Comic Relief to the show, but her brains make her one of the most interesting characters by far. She'll solve whatever problem they have and has really saved the day several times during the show, which is awesome. She may not be a regular field agent, but she is just as valuable as everyone else and she is awesome. 2) She is the only person that can cure the disease... and unfortunately the only person that contracted it- In FZZT its...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Julia Louis Dryfuss

1) She's always been funny- As long as I have existed Julia Louis Dryfuss has been one of the funniest people on the planet. There are lots of funny people... but JLD wins at life I think. Seinfeld? Amazing. Probably one of the first really funny women I've ever seen on tv. The New Adventures of Old Christine? Still awesome! It got cancelled too soon and I think its A) kind of a good thing because she's done other things since then and B) If it had actually had a final season with Christine going to college, that would have been the funniest thing ever. I could see it getting repetitive a little bit... but everyone on the show was amazing and it still makes me laugh in repeats. And Veep? Just one of the best shows on tv right now... and I think I'm going to do a whole post on Veep because I didn't used to like it and now I absolutely love it. And I always loved her on it and I just think its really cool that she plays the president now. Lol. 2) The Old Navy Commer...

Woman Crush Thursday?- Current Girl Crushes

So I missed doing a WCW yesterday... and honestly I can't even think of one specific person to pick out, so here are my snippets for my current list of woman crushes and why they are awesome. There is probably going to be a fuller post on them, but for right now, here's just a list of some awesome ladies.  I'm gonna start with Kat Dennings. I didn't even realize how much I loved her until this week. She's been on Fallon and Seth Meyers and Kelly and Michael and honestly she is an awesome guest to have. She is a really interesting person herself and she even makes the interviewer seem really interesting as well. She just seems like she has a ton of fun being on talk shows and she's genuinely a really smart, funny and interesting person. She also isn't afraid to talk about her relationship with Josh Groban, but she's also not just gonna talk about her boyfriend the whole time like "she's only with him because he's famous" type of thing...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Leslie Knope

Leslie Knope is probably my favorite female character of all time... here is why shes' awesome. 1) She is an amazing best friend- She is such a good friend to Ann Perkins and pretty much everyone else in her life. Its no wonder why Jeremy Jamm thinks of her as his best friend! She is so nice and thoughtful and will do anything for her friends and go a thousand times above and beyond and outdo herself every year. Thats how good she is as a friend. And even more than that, she can be friends with absolutely anybody, even if they are complete opposites or have nothing in common. Leslie and Ron are opposed on everything, and yet somehow they're amazingly good friends. Leslie and April really have nothing in common, but they're best friends too. Its not something everyone can do, but Leslie can.  2) She might be "bossy" or "stubborn" but with good reason- If someone were to call Leslie Knope either of those words, I would personally take offense. It isn...

Women Crush Wednesday:Shannon Kahermanes's List of Most Fascinating Women of 2014

So in response to Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating people, I'm doing my own list of the most fascinating women. This is really more than 10 people... but I'm going to combine some of these women, I'm also only talking a little bit about some of them. I don't think I'll really go in any sort of order... but I'm going to save the person I think will end up being HUGE for the last... that way you can see. 11) Jamie Kern Lima- For those of you that don't know, Jamie Kern Lima is the founder of the Makeup Brand It Cosmetics. I only have one product from It Cosmetics... but I really like the message behind the company and I think Jamie has done a great job evolving this brand. It cosmetics works with plastic surgeons so that their make up is great for anti aging, and its made with good ingredients for the skin. It is also a cruelty free brand which I think is really cool. I think this brand was founded a while ago... but this year it became available in all U...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Women I'd love to see in the new Ghostbusters

So I'm gonna do something a little different this woman crush wednesday and write about all the women I would love to see in this movie. I don't think I'm going to mention the Queens... Amy and Tina (if you need to know a last name... this blog probably isn't for you.) I think thats a given... everyone knows them and loves them and I think that they will have some sort of cameo in the movie at least. Here are the ladies I'd really love to see. 1) Mindy Kaling- Duhhhh Mindy Kaling has to be in it! She mentioned an all female reboot of Ghostbusters in her book. I think she has to be in it. I don't know if I want her as the lead... I think she'd be good in the lead, don't get me wrong... but I'm not really focused on the lead just yet. Ghostbusters didn't really have a lead, all the men in that movie were just as memorable so thats why I'm not focusing on it. 2) Rebel Wilson- I love Rebel Wilson and I know she's kind of already had her b...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Melissa McCarthy

1) She's super SUPER funny- I feel like this goes without saying... But Melissa McCarthy is one of the funniest human beings on the planet... If not the funniest dare I say it. She was amazing in bridesmaids, and although I didn't think she was the "scene stealer" that she was dubbed in that movie (only because I thought everyone was absolutely AMAZING in bridesmaids) she has been the absolute funniest person in ever in many movie roles and she is just perfect. 2) She makes unlikable roles really likable and easy to relate to- Her characters are always super odd and usually quite hard to relate to. Tammy isn't someone you would necessarily want to hang out with in real life, but I feel like Melissa McCarthy made her so likable and easy to relate to that she had a depth other actresses wouldn't have brought to her. Another great example is her character in Identity Thief. Why should we like that girl at all? She's a criminal, she steals Jason Bateman'...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Cameron Diaz

1) She's always entertaining to watch- I've seen a lot of movies with Cameron Diaz in it, and I feel like she's just super fun to watch. Even if a movie gets bad reviews and its not great overall, like Bad Teacher for example, its still fun to watch because she's just so good in it. I just think she's one of those movie stars that really brings it to any movie she's in. 2) She can do different types of genres- I know she mostly does Rom Coms but she can step out of her comfort zone and do a lot of different things. I really liked the movie The Box that she was in and that was a psychological thriller type of movie. I may be the only person that liked that movie, but I thought she was great. I've never seen the movie My Sister's Keeper, but that's not a comedy either and she was able to be the mom in that and I think it got pretty good reviews if memory serves me. She was also in that action movie with Tom Cruise a few years ago that my mom liked (I...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Piper Chapman (spoilers)

In Honor of OITNB Season 2 coming out on Netflix, I thought I would do a WCW on the shows main character: Piper Chapman. 1) She really does make the best of bad situations- No matter what Piper does, and how much trouble she gets into, she always seems to make the best of the bad situation. When she goes to prison she says it'll be great that she'll get ripped. When she goes to the Shu, a few times, she does what she can to not go completely crazy. Even when Larry and Polly get together, she handles it quite well. She knows what she's doing, in this season she's kind of figured prison out and she gets it. 2) Even though she's kind of selfish... she does care greatly about the people she cares about always- Piper is pretty selfish, I think its safe to say she does focus on her own problems... even when Polly is getting married she complains about her own problems with Alex. But even with Larry and Polly's affair and Alex betraying her so many times, she still...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Amy Schumer

My recent comedy obsession has been Amy Schumer. She is just soo soo funny, she has amazing timing and she's just all around awesome. As a girl that wants to get into comedy... I feel like its hard. I mean there are TONS of funny women and amazing comics of all sorts of backgrounds and whatnot... but still I feel like comedy is kind of a boys club, but Amy Schumer made it a girl club by proving she's one of the guys. She is just one of the smartest people ever probably for doing that. When you first see Amy Schumer she just looks like this cute little blonde girl but then she says all these gross dirty sex jokes that are sooo soo funny. Her special is called "Mostly Sex Stuff" her show is called "Inside Amy Schumer" and her tour is "The Back Door Tour"... you kind of know what to expect with her and that is awesome. And she totally owns it. It's just awesome. I say she kind of "made herself one of the guys" because I feel like peo...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer

So 2 of my most recent woman crushes just happen to be two of the funniest women on TV. Abbi and Ilana are the stars of Broad City, which is my most recent obsession and they are awesome! So first off the show is amazing! I watched the first episode and I really loved it but then missed all of the other episodes... but my friend Alyssa told me "NO! WATCH ALL THE OTHER EPISODES THEY ARE AMAZING!" And I did and they were. I mean there's a whole episode about hiding weed inside of your vagina. There's an episode where there is a blackout and Abbi has to poop and the toilet doesn't flush and her cute neighbor comes over... its just all so funny. Amazing concepts and Abbi and Ilana are just so funny and awkward and weird that they make the show all that much more amazing. Amy Poehler produces the show also and she guests stars in the season finale and that's how I knew that this would be super funny. If Amy Poehler thinks its good, it must be good. And that jus...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Natasha Leggero!

My newest obsession is definitely Natasha Leggero. I've always thought she was super funny and super pretty... but something about her on the show @midnight has made me like her even more. Now I haven't honestly seen Natasha in a lot of things. I've seen her on Burning Love and she was super duper funny, she was on the Franco Roast on Comedy Central, and I think she was on an episode of Community also, it was a small role though. She has absolutely KILLED IT on everything that I've seen her in. She is just one of the funniest smartest female comedians that there are. Ohhhh and I think she's on Kroll Show too... not quite sure. I think she's super great on @midnight because she's just so funny on her feet. She's sooo great at improv which I think is the hardest thing probably. I mean, I think I'd be okay at improv because I'd rather improvise than memorize lines... but it's still hard to actually be funny and improvise in front of a live a...

Woman Crush Wednesday- Tina Fey! (100TH POST!!!!!)

This is my 100th post so I figured I'd make this a very long awaited and incredible post about my #1 woman crush and idol the lovely and talented Miss Tina Fey. I love Tina Fey she is brilliant and beautiful and funny. Words cannot describe my admiration for Tina Fey. She's just the best. This may be an uneventful 100th post because idk where to even begin with this... I loved her on SNL, I thought she was super great on Weekend Update and at the time I didn't even know that she was the head writer of the show at the time... that must have been awesome. Except in her book when she describes that guys actually peed in jars instead of going to the bathroom. Watching sketches with her and Amy Poehler together made me realize it's okay to be a funny girl. These two women were "the funny ones" and they were on tv and doing amazing! And I remember watching 30 Rock when it first came on wayyyyy back in the day. I was a Freshman in High School and Arrested Devel...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Jennifer Lawrence!

I feel like Jennifer Lawrence is a lot of people's woman crush, and just crush all around. She is gorgeous and funny and talented. Seriously is there anything she can't do. I'm not someone to get very emotional in movies. When I watch tv and something sad happens, I'll cry or when there is a sad part in a book I'll cry... but Jennifer Lawrence really gets me to cry in movies. Catching Fire just came out and holy shit I almost lost it. I mean yes I did cry a lot in the books, but I wasn't really expecting to get so emotional in the movie because I wasn't too too emotional during the first movie. I really felt for Katniss when she visited District 11 and I just thought no other actress could really do that that well. I don't think I've actually seen any movies of hers other than The Hunger Games and Catching Fire... but I should get on that. She's probably way better in the movies she was nominated for an Oscar in is probably a better performance...

Woman Crush Wednesday #4 Aubrey Plaza

Sooo since I just talked about Mark Duplass and how much I liked Safety Not Guaranteed, I figured I'd follow up with my woman crush on Aubrey Plaza. Aubrey Plaza is just amazing. I mean on Parks and Rec, in Safety Not Guaranteed... I didn't actually see The To Do List yet, but that looked amazing too. I even downloaded World of Warcraft because of that commercial she was in! She is just perfect. April Ludgate is one of my favorite characters on tv. The way that she interacts with all of the other characters is just so funny. The way that she hates Ann and is annoyed by Chris, but she still cares about them is just really funny. Her relationship with Ron is great, and her and Andy are great. Parks and Rec is such a great show because all of the characters really interact together so well, and I think Aubrey Plaza does a particularly good job of that. Another thing I thought was cool was when she was drunk at the MTV movie awards and got on stage when Will Ferrell...

Woman Crush Wednesday- Lady Gaga

I love Lady Gaga. I have always been a fan. From the very first time I saw the video for Just Dance when I was in Germany and it was totally awesome and funny and amazing. And I love everything she does. Even the few times I'm not totally crazy about a song, its still better than most other songs. She's just really talented. And there are very few singers that are actually amazing artists as well. I really think a lot of her performances and videos are a beautiful and better than some things that they put in museums even. I know that seems like a shallow sort of comment that a teenage girl would write, but I really think that she is a visionary and I just truly admire everything that she has done. I would absolutely love to see her live! I feel like I would get super emotional and cry probably, and I'm not usually one to do something like that.  I also love her attitude. She doesn't really care about her haters or what the media has to say about her. You know wh...

Woman Crush Wednesday

I see a lot of things on Instagram with Woman Crush Wednesdays and you know its nice to see the pictures of the girl crushes, but I want to go into a little more detail with it. I don't think of my woman crushes as actual woman crushes, more just beautiful ladies that I admire a lot for everything that they've contributed... mostly to women in television and women in comedy. And Basically these women are what I look up to and really wish to become. This week I'm going to talk about someone who I've been admiring a LOT lately and that is the very lovely and talented Zooey Deschannel. I just love her, I love New Girl, I love her movies and I really like her personality. She can play a lot of different characters. She's played some really funny sort of dark mean characters- similar to Aubrey Plaza- and very quirky upbeat characters- like Ellie Kemper. Lately I've been sort of copying her style and trying to replicate her look, particularly on New Girl a lot bec...
