Scribbles about Books: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

After reading Gone Girl, I became a little bit obsessed with Gillian Flynn, so I had to get her other two books and read them right away also. I thought that they would probably be just as good as Gone Girl... but probably a little less messed up. Boy was I wrong about that.  This is a really good book. Really good. I love the characters and worlds Gillian Flynn creates... I'd have to say Gone Girl was quite an easy read and this is not at all an easy book to read. It is incredibly uncomfortable at times and the ending is very unsettling. I wanted to let my mom borrow it when I finished... but I don't want my mom reading this! It would probably make her cry. My mom is pretty much the nicest person ever, I'm not just saying that because she's my mom I'm saying it because she actually is. This book is not something I think she could read and it isn't for the faint of heart. It's really quite dark.  Where do I even begin with this... It starts out kind o...

Weekly charts!

Itunes Music Charts  5) Habits (Stay High) by Tove Lo- Ohhh I think I know this song. I don't know if I know it from a commercial or a TV show or if they played it at the store I worked at. I liked it. It has a Lorde type of vibe, I can definitely seeing this song being one that I won't get tired of easily... I like it! I really like it. There isn't too much on the radio I like right now, but this is good.  4) Animals by Maroon 5- I think I've mentioned this... I thought this was about something totally different. I thought it said "I'm gonna finger you tonight." Which is a pretty weird declaration. Also I thought another Maroon 5 song said the same thing. I think this has gotten some buzz over the controversial video. It's apparently a little creepy, Adam Levine is hunting the girl in the video... who just happens to be his wife. It sounded weird to me. So yeah.  3) All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor- I'm slightly sick of this song. ...

Scribbles about Movies: Gone Girl Review

This is a movie based on my favorite book ever and I have to say, it is also one of my favorite movies ever. If I ever write a mystery that gets turned into a movie, I want it done like this... and I kind of want David Fincher to direct it. I'm going to try to do this without spoiling the end... but that's going to be so difficult. I'll tell you the general structure of what happens though. The book and movie both have a beginning, a middle and an end, as do most things in life. In the beginning you think one thing. You may have a sneaking suspicion that something else is up... but you are quickly debunked. You can try to guess who did it, but ultimately you'll end up having one thought. You really aren't going to like Nick Dunne, whether you think he did it or not and you will just really not understand why he's so stupid. Then there's this big bombshell in the middle of the book that is the biggest twist in the history of the world probably... and you do...

Stuff that happened this week! (9/28/14-10/4/14)

1) Blogger explains "The Pixar Theory"-  This Blogger   created a very detailed post, and video about the "pixar theory" that has been speculated on for years. Basically that all Pixar movies take place in one universe, but all in different times. It covers all of Pixar's current movies that you have probably already seen, and even covers some that aren't out yet or that were never released. It ponders what Newt would have been (A Pixar project that was meant to be released but was pushed back because of Brave and later cancelled because of its similarities to Rio.) And it poses questions that may be answered in the upcoming Finding Dory and The Good Dinosaur. It's super detailed and I buy it. Do I think when they started making these Pixar movies they set out for it to become this? No. Do I think these movies are meant to be the Tarinto movies for children? No... but I like this guys theory and I think its solid enough for me to believe. Another thing...

Top 5 Friday: Favorite Fictional Characters

This probably isn't the full entire list... But there is a good number of characters here that are definitely favorites of mine. I think right now I'm just going to post about 5 since it is Top 5 Friday... But I watch a lot of tv,and I've seen a lot of movies and read a lot of books... So there will always be more. Lol.  First I want to mention my favorite television character of all time: Gob Bluth. I love Arrested Development obviously and all of the Bluths could be mentioned in this... But Gob is totally what got me to love this show. He's just so strange and funny that he really isn't like any other character on television. He's wacky like Kramer, but not quite as smart. He's kind of dumb and a womanizer like Joey Tribianni, but he's not as dumb and he's got a lot more sadness in him. He's just funny all around and Will Arnett played him to a perfection!  Next I have to mention my other favorite tv character: Ron Swanson. All of the Pawnee r...

Scribble About Books: Gone Girl

I already posted a review on Gone Girl... But I also wanted to post something a little more in-depth and that people who have already read the book can relate to and understand. This will be filled with spoilers, so if you haven't read the book, please click away, hide this post and read the book and come back. Everyone seriously needs to read this book. At the beginning of the book, I just thought that Nick and Amy had really bad communication problems that led to some unfortunate things. I didn't really think that Nick was capable of killing her because I just figured Nick really loved her. I actually thought I was a bit like Diary Amy... I don't think I'm anything like Amy in real life... I can barely order things online, I would never be able to go through pulling off what she pulled off! But Diary Amy seemed fun and free spirited at first. I thought she was a but empty and kind of vapid towards the end of the diary entries. I mean I still believed her over Nick j...

Gone Girl Review-Spoiler free

So I just finished reading the book Gone Girl and I absolutely loved it. I liked it so much that I'm going to split my reviews in 2. 1 for if you're thinking of reading it but haven't yet...or if you are reading it and aren't super into it at the beginning. And then I'll go more in depth in my other one so that if you've read the book already, you know what happens. This book doesn't start out slow really... But I can see how if you're just reading the first part you may not like it right away. The characters Nick and Amy don't seem very likable and their marriage just seems bad for no real reason. It's entertaining... But I was starting to wonder how it could be a book that was 400 pages... But there is a huge twist in the middle of the book that changes everything and it makes it basically impossible to put down for the rest of the book. Everything you thought about the characters changes completely. I'll talk more about this in my spoi...

Trailer Reviews: New Gone Girl Trailer and more!

So I did one of these last week, but there is a new gone girl trailer that I just watched and I figured I'd watch some more stuff. 1) Gone Girl- This is the movie where Ben Affleck's wife goes missing and he seems suspicious, yet insists he didn't do it. It's based off of a book that I want to read because I'm interested in the story... but lets face it. Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry... doesn't sound like a great movie to me so far lol. Also books about murder don't translate that well on screen I don't really think. I kind of liked The Lovely Bones movie, but it wasn't fantastic or anything I would have really wanted to pay to see... I don't know. The teaser was super weird and arty, it was just clips of the movie that were rather disturbing and a song playing in the backround... its weird. This one had more of the story, but it still didn't really tell us anything. It makes Ben Affleck look super guilty and on one hand that would be super obvi...
