What I Love About Going To The Movies

So I thought I'd do a bit of a different post today. I was kind of going to do a full "Oscars Week" Theme because I was excited to do a recap... but to be honest... I haven't seen any of the movies besides Get Out and I just don't think I'm that excited about those ideas and I'm only writing what I'm really passionate about right now... so as much as I do want to see all the nominated films because they do look excellent... I'm not sure how much better this blog will be if I mention that. That being said- let's talk about something I love and I think I've loved even more recently: Going to the movies! I know- I always complain that I don't go to the movies a lot because it is expensive, it's cold and flu season right now... I don't really have any friends that like going to the movies that much... it just isn't something that happens regularly for me... and I'm okay with that... but I'm going to say it is kind of m...

Chart Chat 3/1/17

This is an interesting week for movies... right before the Oscars... I was excited at the Number 1 movie... it's one that I want to see and I've heard is really good... I thought it was an independent movie... but I'm guessing not. 10) Lion- This movie I've heard is really good. I asked my Facebook friends what their favorite movie of the year was... a few people mentioned this as being really good! I haven't seen any Oscar Nominated movies... so the Shanny goes to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Really great reviews... great story... everyone in the movie seems very, very passionate about the film as well... so this just seems like a great one. I don't think it won any awards... but I'm sure this will be very well remembered and well loved. 9) Split- Again this is a thriller and quite a thriller! The way my friend described it just made the suspense sound amazing and it even had some moments of comic relief in it. She also didn't think it o...

Oscars 2017 Recap

We've got a lot to go over tonight... let's start wit the big one... Mahershala Ali is the first Muslim man or woman to win an acting Oscar! I know this probably isn't what you were thinking of as "The Big Thing" but frankly... this is what people should be talking about! What an amazing achievement. I haven't actually seen any of the movies... but from reviews I've read and clips I've seen... he really makes the movie. A lot of the times an AMAZING supporting actor or actress can make the difference between winning Best Picture or not winning best picture. And Mahershala isn't really known to be an a-lister or anything... he's been in lots of movies- Boggs in The Hunger Games and he was on House of Cards and Luke Cage... it's still not a name I think has been heard before... and now I'm sure his name will be well known and he'll go on to do a lot more stuff! Good job Mahershala! Great accomplishment. Okay so now the big moment ...

Chart Chat: 3.7.16

Alrighty! I think I'll do box office, music and iTunes movies... to see if the Oscars made a difference in that. So here we go! Start off with music! Music  5) Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots- Lol. I was watching a Periscope with Brendon Urie from Panic at The Disco... which is absolutely crazy btw... there are so many people on at once, I'm never able to comment and the people that do comment ask the dumbest questions that he doesn't answer over and over and over again... so that's annoying... but someone kept asking "Are you the singer from Twenty One Pilots" and he's not... lol. Anyway... this song I liked when I listened to the sample a few months ago... then I heard it on the radio and I was like... nahhh let's see whats on the other stations... and now I'm okay with it. So that's a weird journey for a song to take. 4) Work by Rihanna ft. Drake- Not really in a place to listen to the sample and comment on this right now... but I ...

10 Things To Know About Oscars 2016

So I'm doing more top 10 things lately... and I thought instead of doing a full review, I'd just talk about 10 important things. 1) This years Oscar was controversial because of the lack of diversity. Chris Rock, the host... had no problem addressing this throughout the show. I think he did a good job covering all of the issues and addressing that there needs to be diversity and equality in Hollywood. I thought seeing Rock in The Martian and Tracey Morgan as The Danish Girl was quite funny. A lot of his jokes were about very serious things. but he's Chris Rock, he's probably the funniest person in the world... so obviously he made it work and I don't think anyone doubted that. He's Chris Rock. 2) The Stacy Dash thing... whattt? Ummm... she's a controversial person that I think annoys most people... so I don't know if people were annoyed or happy to laugh at her. If you google Chrissy Teigan's face... thats pretty much the right reaction. 3) I l...

Scribbles About TV: End of Feb 2015

Big Week for TV! Oscars, Parks and Rec Series Finale, How to Get Away With Murder Season Finale... plus a lot of other good shows. Its one of Jon Stewarts last shows! Lol. Every week now until he leaves is I guess... but yeah. Lol. I watched The Oscars. I don't usually watch the full thing, but I did this year because... we had leftover appetizers from the superbowl, so I invited my friend over lol. Now I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel. I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel often because when Nia Vardalos was on promoting Connie and Carla, I thought he was a little disrespectful for her because he would only mention meeting Quentin Tarantino when she was on... and idk. I think I may have misjudged him a little bit, because I've seen some of his other shows and he is really quite funny and seems pretty normal and he's friends with a lot of other celebrities. His shows always do really fun bits, the episode Matt Damon hosted was really funny. And his monologue was really good for...

Stuff That Happened this Week (Week of 1/11/156) )

1) The Golden Globes- The Golden Globes aired on Sunday. It was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's last time hosting, hopefully they will move on to hosting other shows because they're awesome. Gina Rodregez from Jane The Virgin won, Michael Keaton won, JK Simmons, Amy Adams, the guy that played Stephen Hawking, Julianne Moore, The Affair, Transparent and Jeffrey Tambor won a lot. Lots of good things... Chrissy Teagen looked Hungry in a meme and JLo's dress hugged her boobs and showed a nip and Jeremy Renner just looked at it in an obvious way. Lol. 2) The CW Renews Jane The Virgin and other shows- So this was a cool thing. The CW was not doing well with ratings last year and it cancelled a bunch of shows... this year it renewed Jane The Virgin, Arrow, Reign, a lot of shows were picked up. Its a good thing. So yeah thats good. I only really watch Jane The Virgin, I want to watch Reign and The Originals and Maybe The Vampire Diaries... idk. I think Izombie looks good too. Thats go...

Stuff that happened this week (3/2- 3/9)

I'm Shannon, this is my blog, and here is what happened this week! 1) Gwen Stefani gives birth to a baby boy- This I think happened Saturday... but close enough. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale both very talented... but Gwen Stefani is trying to kill me... as I have recently posted... so this is yet another spawn of Satan lol. His name is Apollo Bowie Flynn which is just great. What the hell am I supposed to name my kid now! Lol. 2) And the Award goes to- The Oscars happened on Sunday. I'm actually writing this part on Saturday, so I'm going to place my bets here and then we will see who actually won after. Best Picture- 12 Years a Slave. Best Actor- Matthew McConnahey.  Best Actress- hmmm... this is tough. I'm gonna go with Sandy B. Best Supporting- Actor Jared Leto. Best Supporting Actress- ... another tough one. I want it to be Lupita, I think she was great and totally deserves it... but I'm gonna guess my girl J. Lawz. No... maybe Lupita... idk. It's har...

Oscars Review! 2014

So The Academy Awards just happened and I watched it... even though it was suuuuupppperrrr boring and predictable. I really like Ellen and all, and everyone is saying she did a fantastic job... so it's probably just me. I just don't feel like the jokes really landed. It felt very awkward and forced. She wasn't the worst host but there really hasn't been a great host in a long time. They gotta get Tina and Amy, those girls are the best. Didn't Conan host it one year? Or was it Jon Stewart? I feel like one or both of them hosted and I thought that was pretty good. Idk. I was watching all of the red carpet stuff, because that is really more exciting than anything else and honestly I loved all of the dresses. If I had to pick one favorite dress I'd have to say Lupita Nyong'o. I hadn't really been watching all of the other events or anything, but I just recently became obsessed with her fashion choices. I also really liked Sandra Bullocks, Mindy Kaling, t...

Oscar predictions 2014

Sooo I haven't seen many of the oscar-nominated films, but I thought "hey why not blog about my predictions." From what I can tell it seems like its anyone's game. That's what I've heard anyway. I'll let you know who I think will win and who I want to win.  Best Picture  American Hustle  Nebraska  12 Years a Slave  Captain Phillips  Gravity  Philomena  The Wolf of Wall Street  Dallas Buyers Club  Her  As of right now I've only seen Dallas Buyers Club and 12 Years a Slave and I gotta say 12 Years a Slave deserves it. It was a phenomenal movie and it was brilliantly directed and was just great. The other movie I think could maybe get it is Gravity... but I feel like that was released too early so one of the others will likely get it instead.  I think it'd be cool to see Her win. I didn't see Her I really want to, but that one is more of a comedy I believe and I think it'd be nice to see a comedy ...
