What I Love About Going To The Movies

So I thought I'd do a bit of a different post today. I was kind of going to do a full "Oscars Week" Theme because I was excited to do a recap... but to be honest... I haven't seen any of the movies besides Get Out and I just don't think I'm that excited about those ideas and I'm only writing what I'm really passionate about right now... so as much as I do want to see all the nominated films because they do look excellent... I'm not sure how much better this blog will be if I mention that.

That being said- let's talk about something I love and I think I've loved even more recently: Going to the movies! I know- I always complain that I don't go to the movies a lot because it is expensive, it's cold and flu season right now... I don't really have any friends that like going to the movies that much... it just isn't something that happens regularly for me... and I'm okay with that... but I'm going to say it is kind of magical whenever it does happen.

One thing I love about it is that it creates a sort of community with your fellow movie-goers. Maybe you don't know anyone else in the theater... but somehow you're connected. You both decided "Ohhh hey I'm free at this time. I saw commercials for this and it looks really good... I'm going to see it" at the same time. Maybe you have nothing else in common other than that you happened to see that same particular movie at the same time... or maybe you have a lot in common... and that is why you have the same exact taste in movies! It just kind of unites you... at least for a little while.

It's also fun to go with people that you actually do know... cause that can kind of bring you closer too. How many times have you seen a movie with someone and then discussed it after? Or you liked a movie so much, you recommended it to someone else and they liked it a lot too. Maybe someone you know is having a hard time- and it's just good to see them laugh and enjoy themselves together. It's just a nice way to bond with someone.

I also kind of like being in the bigger community of people that have seen it in theaters, or on opening weekend. When The Hangover came out... I don't think there was much hype about it. Bradley Cooper was relatively unknown. Zach Galifinakis was a standup comedian- that I had seen live- but I don't think people knew just how funny he was. Ed Helms was someone everyone loved on The Office, so he was kind of on the verge of stardom with this... but I don't think anyone expected it to be the classic movie that it was. It came out right before I finished Junior Year of High School and everyone was signing quotes with "there's a tiger in the bathroom!" Or at least my friend that I saw it with and I were... idk if everyone else saw it that early... so I was even a little ahead of the game. And that was really pretty cool.

So... yeah. Going to the movies is special! What's the best movie you guys have seen in theaters? Let me know!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
