Scribbles About TV: Rise

So NBC's been killing it with their shows lately... and I have to say... I think Good Girls is my favorite... but I just can't stop thinking about Rise! Here are some things I love about it!

Josh Radner's Acting Abilities Finally Shine!

I'm a fan of How I Met Your Mother... and I'm one of the rare people that actually really did like Ted Mosby as a character... and Josh Radner is talented... but despite being the main character of How I Met Your Mother... he kind of faded into the backround with the very over the top comedic performances of all the other characters. Radnor kept it grounded and I think that's a hard thing to do with all of those other characters.

That being said... it's hard to tell whether or not he's the best actor... that's the only thing I've seen him in and... he was okay but I always thought he was trying to be more of a director. In this show- I think he really is his character. I think his actual passion for the show shows in the passion of his character.

All The Students Are So Talented!

No one in my high school musical was that talented... seriously! No offense if you were in my high school musical... but come on! They have Moana in this!

Yes- I do love Auli'i Cravalho and I was so happy that she was in this show that I knew I would have to watch the show just for that. While she hasn't really been on the show that much just yet... she's singing in it... and that is really really something! She's super talented.

And so is everyone else on the show. I'm sure these kids will do great in musical theater because of this show... and they're just good.

I've Never seen Spring Awakening and Now I'm Probably Going to Listen To The Soundtrack

I don't know if I'd like to see Spring Awakening live. I know it's a sad and more serious play... and I prefer the fun ones... plus I think the revival ended... but now I just downloaded the Lea Michele/ Jonathan Groff version of the soundtrack. I really think they're both talented- so I'm excited to listen to that.

I Also Love It When A Show Uses Songs from Musical Theater to Coincide With The Plot
So bonus points. Also more Bonus Points for Hamilton too... cause you know Hamilton is one of my favorite things ever!

Speaking Of That... They Have Cast Recordings on Itunes/ Apple Music After Each Episode.

I'm probably going to check more of this out after I listen to more of the actual Spring Awakening Soundtrack. Although I do like learning about Spring Awakening through the context of this show... hmm lol.

Everyone Has A Great Backstory... and They Did A Great Job of Introducing That In The Pilot.

This is an ensemble cast... so having a way to tell stories about each character is going to be challenging... luckily the Pilot introduced each story the perfect amount. We have just enough insight into each character. I thought they left it vague enough with all the characters too that the story is pretty open....there's a lot of things they can do and I can't really predict it.

I think that is everything I want to say about this. I'm excited for a new episode tonight and you guys should check it out!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
