February 2016: It List

It List Time already!!! Lets get to it! 1) The X Files- I'm really liking the new X Files series and it might be done by now... I think there should be one episode left by the time I post this... but its been so fun. It might not be as good as the original series... but I think a lot of the episodes and characters are a little more fun. Its fun to see skeptical Mulder. I just really like it a lot! 2) The People vs. OJ Simpson- I like this show a lot. At the time there's only been one episode... but its really good. Its a lot less frustrating than things like American Horror Story because you kind of know the ending... but then again it is a little frustrating because Nicole Brown Simpson's killer was never really brought to justice. If it was OJ or if it wasn't... no one knows who it is and thats scary. Its really well done and it doesn't seem biased which is really cool. Its really well done and the best actors are in it...so I highly recommend it. 3) Hamilto...

Scribbles About TV: The X Files Season 10 Premiere

So I wasn't sure if this was being considered a revival, but on my tv it says "Season 10 episode 1" so I'm going with Season 10. As you guys may know, I love The X Files. I think the show is awesome. Its really kind of a powerful feminist show if you really watch it. Dana Scully is one of the first really strong female characters I've seen in any tv show and it still holds up. I've seen every episode, but I haven't seen them all recently... I've only seen up to Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man recently... lol. And I didn't love the second movie and the show wasn't as good in its last few seasons as it was in its prime... but honestly the last few seasons were not terrible. Season 7 had some good episodes... Season 8 I kind of liked actually and Season 9 not the worst... and I haven't seen those seasons recently but I feel like they are a little over-hated. I think if you watched a few episodes in those seasons they aren't terrible...

Why Mulder and Scully Make Sense as A Couple+ What I think of the new series

Alright, so in re-watching The X Files I've been trying to not view Mulder and Scully as a couple because I really wanted them to get together when I first watched it, but then in the 2nd movie I felt like there was kind of an issue with them being a couple. Idk I feel like they're still to vague about it. And here is my theory and it might be kind of a bummer... but basically I think they kind of have to be together because they can't actually be with anyone else. I don't think there is anyone else they will trust more than each other and I think there is no one else they will love more than each other and they can't be apart... so they need to be together. I feel like its very loving and beautiful that way... but also rather unromantic because they're more or less stuck with each other and I think... there's something to that. Something to them just being together because they have to that I appreciate. A lot of people say that they don't like them a...

Scribbles About TV- Shannon Watches Old TV Shows: The X Files Season 3 part 2

We ended on a favorite last time and we're starting with a favorite this time! So this is an exciting bunch also! Syzygy Still one of my favorites! Its so creepy but also funny. Its a little like Scream and Carrie... slightly more like Carrie with the characters, but like Scream with some of the deaths and the humor of it. A little Jaw-breakery too. I really liked this. And it was legitimately creepy because there was all this cult stuff and these deaths and the two teenage girls were so good and so creepy. And there was jealousy between Mulder and Scully... I feel like after Mulder got off the train in the last mythology episode, they hooked up. It totally makes sense with why Scully is so jealous in this and War of the Corpophages and why she's so upset with Mulder disagreeing with her in Revelations. Its not written anywhere... but if this was in real life I'd totally be like "THEY HOOKED UP!" Lol. Such a funny episode that is really scary too. This is a go...

Scribbles About TV- Shannon Watches Old TV Shows: The X Files Season 3 part 1

This season is the best! There are a few episodes in this season that I think are kind of forgettable, but I believe this season and season 6 are the only seasons where I liked every episode. The bad part is it kind of goes downhill from here... lol. Nothing really compares to the amazing episodes in this season, but there's a lot of good ones in the next few seasons and even season 8 I liked (although I happened to like the Scully is pregnant storyline... so yeah.) My favorite episode is in this bunch (can you guess which one????) and some of my other favorites are in this bunch and the next bunch also. The Blessing Way This episode I remember being really cool with the Native American stuff and I really liked it at the time... now its a little cheesy... a little over the top, but I still think it works. I really like the second part of this episode better, I thought this one was a little bit of a really long introduction... but I still thought it was a great premier overall. L...

Scribbles About TV: Shannon Watches Old TV Shows; The X Files Season 2 part 2

Irresistible- This was a really good one. This kind of stopped the streak of "meh" episodes in my opinion because it was really great. The villain was really creepy, you would never really suspect someone like him would be the villain. He was also charming, so thats a little creepy itself. Also its nice to see Scully kind of scared of something. This job really effects them, and this was the first time her experience was really mentioned other than just Mulder asking if she's okay. I thought this was a great episode and it was such a perfect time in the season to have it. Die Hand Die Verletzt  I actually remember liking this episode a lot. Its creepy. I didn't really remember much of it, I remembered it raining toads and I remembered the girl was named Shannon... but I had no idea that was this episode. And it was really good. I thought the teachers at the school thing was so creepy. This is the last episode that Glen Morgan and James Wong before they left for ...

Feminist Friday: Dana Scully: The 90's Most Awesome (and badass) Woman.

So new thing I'm doing here. Tryin to change it up a bit with a Feminist Friday. What is Feminist Friday? Basically Woman Crush Wednesday... but on a Friday. Lol. I didn't have this by Wednesday. So since I've been rewatching the X Files I've realized how completely awesome Scully is and I'm gonna break it down a little as to why I think she's the coolest. She is never really Glamorized or Sexualized the way that other women on TV are  Gillian Anderson is absolutely gorgeous. She was about my age when they started the show I think, which is weird to think of. And it would have made a little bit of sense to have her be the super hot super young FBI agent and it would have made sense... but they showed her as a really real agent. She gets her hands dirty, she isn't in like a beauty patent or something, she's an actual real agent as much as Mulder is. Its something that they make a point not to do with Scully. And every once and a while it'll come ...

Scribbles About TV: Shannon Watches old Tv Shows; The X Files Season 2 pt 1

Little Green Men  This one is a good episode. To be honest... I felt a little underwhelmed after the season finale... but that doesn't make this a bad episode. Its still really good. I like the way that they separated Mulder and Scully but they still talk to each other like they're working together. It kind of set the tone for everything that happened this season. There was a lot of 90s stuff you can't get away with in todays PC culture, Mulder makes fun of a hispanic guy a little bit... which I'm not saying this is a good thing or a bad thing... obviously you shouldn't make fun of someone because of their language, they also sort of portray him as dumb which is something problematic that used to happen that wouldn't happen today. I always think thats interesting. I talked about that with Roland and its just a weird thing that never happens anymore. I don't know. The Host This one I remember as one of my favorites. It still scared me watching it now. Thi...

Scribbles About Tv: Shannon Watches Old Tv Shows; The X Files Season 1part 2

Alrighty watching this show again... There are hits and misses and I'm kind of skipping and just going with whatever Kumail Nanjianni picks in The X Files Files and skipping others... But thee are a few I think I liked so I might slip some in here or I may go back and watch the bad ones and talk about them separately. Idk I think I'm going to at least watch one now and include it here... We'll see. Beyond The Sea This was one I really didn't like much as a kid... But it's amazing and probably underrated. This might be one of their best episodes ever and I feel like I never hear much about it! This episode I remember being creeped out by and to this day, the song Beyond the Sea still creeps me out because the actor that plays the villain of this episode is just soooo good. He's really creepy and scary and it just works really really well. He's probably the best villain in the monster of the week episodes ever...  Also Gillian Anderson was incredible...

Scribbles About TV: The Whispers Review

So I was going to do a review on Aquarius and watch this a second time... but I haven't even seen aquarius yet and I thought "well I pretty much got the whole story of The Whispers. Lets Do a blog on that!" So yeah. I am kind of in love with this show. There's kind of an X-Files vibe to me for some reason. It reminds me of all the mythology episodes of The X Files and its just as scary... if not scarier than a lot of it. It also kind of reminds me of Medium... again don't know why... but when Medium was on I was like "OHhh. X Files" and now that this is on I'm kind of like "Ohhh X Files. Medium." I also feel like people that like Lost... but also horror movies will like this... its very creepy, very mysterious and there is a lot going on. One thing I thought was interesting about the show was the characters... there are a lot of characters for this show! Probably more than they need, but I think the way that they handled it was very goo...
