John Wick Chapter 2 Review

So overall I love the John Wick series... but this is probably the weakest movie in the series. It's still an important movie that bridges the gap between the first and the third movie really well... but it's my least favorite John Wick movie. Let's talk about what I didn't love about this movie... the plot is much harder to understand than the plot of the first movie. It's got a lot of layers to it and it gets into the world of the movie... which is good but I feel like this one movie was 2 separate movies. Basically the first half of the movie is John being forced into a mission... and then once that ends it's the person that sent him on the mission going after him... and it just isn't quite as exciting. Plus I really thought the ending of the first movie did a good job of wrapping everything up while still showing new problems and those problems weren't really addressed in this movie. It made sense... but it wasn't the best of the movies. The ...

John Wick Chapter 1 Review

Ok guys... I joked about doing this review for a while... If you've ever read some of my other blogs called "Chart Chats" where I talk about the top 10 movie charts every once and a while there was an action movie I knew NOTHING about that would just stay on the charts for weeks and I would always joke that I was "thrilled" to see them on the charts again... which was very sarcastic because of corse I wasn't. But anyhow flash forward to a few years later, I have a new man in my life that had also never seen John Wick but he informed me that it was kind of about dogs. AND I LOVE DOGS and he does too so when we saw it was on sale on Target for Black Friday... we got all the movies! So I've seen them all now and I will have reviews on all of them! So if you didn't know the plot of the movie John Wick is a retired assassin who retires to get married but then his wife unfortunately passes away from Cancer. Before she passes away she gets him a puppy so ...

Movie Review: Harley Quinn Birds Of Prey

Hey guys! I'm at least kind of back! I wanted to start March 1st... but I'm a few days late to the game... but anyway I have some movie reviews written already and I've been watching a lot of movies so... this might be a movie review heavy blog for a while... but I think I'll have some book reviews, possibly food reviews and  some other lifestyle types of things...  I have MANY ideas. This review is also probably irrelevant- I think it's still in theaters but... I'm not really sure. It's not getting good reviews and people just don't seem to be seeing it... but I really enjoyed it. It's not a masterpiece or anything but I had a lot of fun with this movie and I'd kind of recommend it. I'm not sure I can FULLY recommend it because I've heard so many people dislike it... but I liked it. So I do have to say this was the first movie I saw of the year in a theater and I have been keeping track of the movies I've been seeing with a revie...

The Best and Worst Movies of 2018!

So in 2018 I got a boyfriend- which I didn't realize would mean seeing a ton of movies... but we both saw more movies than we've seen in years because that's just what we've been doing on dates... so that's kind of fun. But along with that... we've seen some stinkers. Since I didn't really review these movies while I was seeing them... I will let you know now. I think I have more good than bad... but the bad ones were pretty stinky... so yeah. I have 10 best, 2 in between and 4 worst... and one other movie that I already reviewed. I'm also only including movies I actually saw in theaters... I saw Isle of Dogs and that was one of my favorites this year too... but when I think of my top picks- I think of the ones I actually went to see. The Best  10) Christopher Robin- So this was the movie we saw on our first date... so this is really kind of a sentimental pick for me... and I loved the movie. It was really cute and just a fun one to watch. When we ...

Blogmas Day 1: The Grinch Movie Review

Hello everyone! Happy Blogmas! I know my 13 Days of AHS did not pan out as expected... but this year I would really like to do all 25 days of Blogmas... I already wrote my blogs for the next 3 days... we have some more movie reviews... but I decided to start on the most recent movie released and the one that is definitely the best out of all the movies: Illumination Studios The Grinch. So I'm a pretty big fan of Illumination to begin with. I feel like they're a little underrated... Compared to studios like Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks which have been around for years... Illumination is newer and it hasn't had as many hits. I love Despicable Me, I love Sing... I've never seen Secret Life of Pets or The Lorax... but still. They have good stuff. I think this movie is the most impressive animation that the Studio has done. Whoville looked really magical and christmasy... the characters were all super super cute... Cindy Lou Who and her friends were adorable and I cried ...

Blu Ray/ DVD Haul

So I did this around Mother's Day where I talked about some movies that I got for my mom... and it was her bday recently... so I thought I would talk about what I got her for those as well... and I just got some other DVDs recently too... so I thought I'd talk about them here and let you know a little bit about them. Black Panther is one that should be coming up soon in a Marvel Monday. I wanted to see this while it was in theaters... but it was during the terrible cold and flu season... so I didn't really want to get sick... I think I got the flu anyway... but whatever! I still wanted to see this movie when it came out on Blu Ray and I was really excited about it! We actually went out before a big rain storm to get it- which was kind of funny. I did watch this movie and I really liked it... but I'll save that for a Marvel Monday... unless I already posted that Marvel Monday because I might have! Lol. Another one for Marvel Monday is Spider Man: Homecoming. I saw th...

Scribbles About Movies: Victoria and Abdul

So I recently mentioned that I got my mom a few dvds for Mother's Day... and she loved them by the way! Anyway- the one that was the biggest surprise and the one I thought she would like the most is a movie called Victoria and Abdul. This is a recently discovered story about Queen Victoria befriending an Indian man that was supposed to be a servant of hers. This was when India was under the control of England and Victoria was the Empress of India as well as the Queen of England. Abdul was there to present the queen with a coin as a gift from India to her for being their empress. The queen thought that Abdul was handsome- so someone that worked for the Queen invited Abdul to stay. Abdul treated the queen differently than everyone else did. He kissed her feet and that sent everyone else into a panic, but Victoria appreciated it. She asked Abdul to teach her his language and he did. And the two became very close and he considered Victoria "The Most Special Person in his life. E...

Scribbles About Movies: Love, Simon Review

Heyyy guys! Something exciting happened today! I went to the movies! My mom and I like going to the movies together... but we don't get out to much... but today we did and I thought "Love, Simon" looked like the most fun movie out. Also... this is a teen movie- and I've realized I'm slightly into teen movies. Especially now that I'm not a teen. So the movie focuses on Simon who is a gay high schooler that's still in the closet... and how he's been dealing with coming out and trying to connect with a boy. Simon met the boy anonymously from a blog that's kind of like the high school's version of Gossip Girl when he posted that he felt like his life was like a Ferris Wheel with all the ups and downs... and then that inspired Simon to connect with him and say he was going through the same thing... and they just clicked and the Ferris Wheel guy didn't want to reveal who he was to Simon because he still wasn't ready to come out publicly... ...

Watching The First 30-ish Minutes of The Emoji Movie

So... I decided to watch The Emoji Movie the other day... and it's an experience so far... I don't think that I can actually watch the full thing... so this may end up being a series on this blog where I do 3 or so installments. Now I thought "this movie will surely get better" but now that I've had a bit of time to reflect on this first installment of the movie... I realized it probably does not. The last moment I watched was when they very first meet Jailbreak... and just from the brief appearance I saw of hers... I thought she was a great character... again I've only seen a few seconds of her... but she brought an energy that I wasn't getting from High 5... And let's talk about the High 5 Emoji... because as far as characters in movies go... High 5 is probably the least likable and my least favorite... it's bad. I didn't think there was anything that would make me dislike James Corden... but this High 5 Emoji is pretty terrible. And if...

Ranking Every Adam Sandler Movie

So I just did my Throwback Thursday Review of Pixels... and I saw an Article Ranking every Adam Sandler Movie... so I thought why not rank the one's I've seen. I haven't seen them all... some I saw as a kid... but I still have pretty strong feelings about the best and the worst ones... so yeah. I will rank what I know... based on what I know about them... so here we go! I'm not including Hotel Transylvania or movies that he was not the main star of... just the starring movies. Billy Madison  Happy Gilmore  Big Daddy  Mr. Deeds  Anger Management  50 First Dates  Spanglish Click  I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry  You Don't Mess With the Zohan  Bedtime Stories Funny People  Pixels 13) Click- I've gone back and forth when I was writing this list... I didn't see this in theaters, just on TV... but I watched it enough to know that this is no one's favorite Sandler movie. It's definitely forgettable... It is both funny and sa...

Scribbles About Movies: Get Out Review

This was a movie I was really looking forward to seeing... but I knew I probably wouldn't see it in theaters. I don't see a lot of movies- no one I really know likes Thrillers or Horror Movies... so I knew I had to see this eventually and when I got it on Blu Ray... I watched it right away! And it did not disappoint. I felt like I would be a little bit spoiled by this movie because the trailer did reveal kind of a lot about the plot of the film... and that it would be a little bit predictable... but honestly I was pretty surprised and there were some twists and turns that I thought were really good. It was the perfect thriller movie in my opinion and it might be one of the best movies I've ever seen... it was really, really good. It was really a well-paced movie. It definitely eases you into a lot of the themes. At first when Rose and Chris are together it just seems really cute and innocent... and then you get to the house- and it's a little bit weird but... it did...

Scribbles About Movies: Mini Movie Reviews: Mermaids, The Good Dinosaur, Pitch Perfect 2+ More

Alright some new movies I've been watching... here's what I think of them! Pitch Perfect 2  I thought this was funny. I don't know if I liked it as much as the first one or more... in some ways I kinda liked it more. I thought the thing with Fat Amy and Bumper was really funny and cute. I like them both, lots of good songs in both. I liked the new characters in this one and overall I just thought it was a really funny sequel. I was happy when they won, I liked seeing them battle it out... it was cool! Mermaids  I thought this was a movie about actual mermaids... but it wasn't.... still not disappointing at all! I really loved it! I thought Winona Rider and Christina Ricci were really good in it. I really liked the story. Cher played the mother and she was a single mom that dated a lot... and Winona Rider wanted to be a Nun but then she saw a boy she liked and its just about her growing up and I thought it was the most well done movie of its kind really. There are ...

Scribbles About Movies: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

I knew before I saw this I would like it... and I know it got bad reviews and its not going to win any academy awards or anything... but I've had a kind of rough week, and this made me smile, laugh and even tear up a little for about an hour and thats all that matters right? I don't think I've ever left a movie with so many people with smiles on their faces and in a cheerful mood as this movie... and that's what you have to think about while seeing a movie. So some of why I like this movie so much is the same as why I didn't like fuller house. I loved the first movie, and I loved the familiarity of the old characters and the additional characters too. A lot of the jokes were the same as the first movie... but they were different enough to kind of have a new spin. It was fresh and nice and funny. I liked the beginning where Gus was picking everyone up and they all lived next door in some greek-themed house. It was funny. It wasn't as good as the first movie r...

Scribbles About (Ear) Movies: Blacklist Table Read of The Other Side

So I've mentioned one of my new favorite podcasts before. Its called Blacklist Table Reads. They do readings of the best screenplays that still have not been made into movies. I loved their first read, Balls Out, it was a really great comedy. This one is a drama. I'm not super into dramas, but this one is an interesting subject that is pretty cool. It isn't necessarily something I would have watched myself had it been made into a regular movie. Like, not something I would have chosen to go to the theater and see or take the time to watch on tv... but thats what I like about this podcast. It forces you to step out of your comfort zone and listen to different movies. This movie is about the difference between Hasidic Jewish community in Brooklyn and the Hipster community in Brooklyn. The writer of this script (they do very interesting interviews with the writers every movie) mentioned that she used to live in Israel for 2 years, and then she moved to Williamsburg Brooklyn w...

Scribbles about movies: Unbroken Review

Sooo I saw the movie Unbroken, which is the World War II movie that was directed by Angelina Jolie... I know what your thinking "That doesn't sound like a very Shannony movie" well really it isn't. My dad wanted to see it, so he took my mom and I and even though I didn't really know what it was about, I watched the trailer it looked good and I thought I'd like it a lot. And I did really like it, its a great story with great acting and overall a great movie and I would recommend it! So I just checked IMDB this is Angelina Jolie's 3rd movie that she's directing. She has a documentary and another movie, I thought this was her directorial debut, but it was not. She has 2 in the works too, so that'll be interesting. I think there were some weird directorial choices... it started off a little slow. Kind of a lot slow actually. It starts out, you get right into it, the main character Louie is in a plane during WWII... I don't think he's flying...

Trailer Reviews: New Gone Girl Trailer and more!

So I did one of these last week, but there is a new gone girl trailer that I just watched and I figured I'd watch some more stuff. 1) Gone Girl- This is the movie where Ben Affleck's wife goes missing and he seems suspicious, yet insists he didn't do it. It's based off of a book that I want to read because I'm interested in the story... but lets face it. Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry... doesn't sound like a great movie to me so far lol. Also books about murder don't translate that well on screen I don't really think. I kind of liked The Lovely Bones movie, but it wasn't fantastic or anything I would have really wanted to pay to see... I don't know. The teaser was super weird and arty, it was just clips of the movie that were rather disturbing and a song playing in the backround... its weird. This one had more of the story, but it still didn't really tell us anything. It makes Ben Affleck look super guilty and on one hand that would be super obvi...

Trailer Reviews! Dark comedies and Indy movies. Plus Horrible bosses two teaser.

So I just realized that there is a movie out that has Jason Bateman and Tina Fey as brother and sister and is the comedy I've been dreaming about for years... Seriously this is my type of movie. And it has a trailer out and I haven't seen it... That means it is definitely time for trailer reviews! 1) This Is Where I Leave You- As mentioned above... I am excited for this movie. People are saying it has the potential to be the greatest movie ever made, and I agree with that and absolutely want to see it the second it comes out... And I didn't even catch the date of it. Anyway this movie looks completely perfect in every way. I love Jason Bateman almost as much if not more than I love Tina Fey and them together is just the best thing that could possibly happen in a movie. Yes this movie will be good. I actually waited a while to see the trailer because I've been sort of researching the movie, and following it for a while, which I hardly do because I get bored with it and ...

Mini movie reviews! (There's Something About Mary, American Beauty and more)

Sooo I've been home from school and lately either when I'm home alone and I'm not working and have time to watch something or late at night after work, I've been watching movies that I've always wanted to watch but haven't gotten around too for whatever reason. But I'm A Cheerleader- I had seen the end of this movie so many times, but I've never seen the full thing. From what I've seen it was funny and interesting and since I like Natasha Lyonne so much in OITNB I thought it would be fun to see her in a much different role. This was a funny movie and it was cute, but it was kind of boring at parts. It's a little cheesy, they kind of skip plot with a bunch of montages- which I don't like. But overall it's cute. As a straight girl that just wanted to see a kind of cutesy movie, it's not like its totally a "skip it" movie... but Idk if I'd devote all of my time to watching it. With teen movies like this, its probably bett...

Shannon Reviews: The Other Woman

This is one of those movies I was a little disappointed in just because I feel like if I were to direct a comedy... I would do a little bit of a better job. That might just be me being arrogant, but the director of this movie was the same director of the Notebook, and I don't think he's a bad director... I just think this was his first crack at a comedy and it turned out a little weird. That being said, I did think this movie was a lot of fun, especially if you see it with your girlfriends. This movie was really a cute story and it was quite funny... But a lot of it was off just a tad. First off a lot of the lines were ADR added after the movie was off and it was quite obvious. Like there were full conversations between characters where it was quite obvious the actors were not in the same room at the same time. This was something a lot of people complained about with the fourth season of Arrested Development, so I know a lot of people would probably be bothered by this movie....

Shannon Reviews movie trailers

Sooo I was going to post something else today.... But there have been a lot of trailers I've wanted to see... So I will see them now! Let's do this! 1) Let's Be Cops- Excited for this one. I love Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr, so this should be good. I'm watching the red band trailer. Okay this isn't what I thought at all. I thought they were actually cops but apparently they were just going to a party that they thought was a costume party so they went as cops. Then people started thinking that they were cops and they started impersonating cops... It doesn't seem like a great concept for a movie. It'll probably be super funny but there is stuff that just isn't there. Idk if I really want to see this or not. I think it could be funny but it didn't look all that funny. It comes out in August which seems like a red flag... I'll definitely watch this on demand unless it gets really terrible reviews, but I might pass. 2) Sex Tape- This di...
