Blu Ray/ DVD Haul

So I did this around Mother's Day where I talked about some movies that I got for my mom... and it was her bday recently... so I thought I would talk about what I got her for those as well... and I just got some other DVDs recently too... so I thought I'd talk about them here and let you know a little bit about them.

Black Panther is one that should be coming up soon in a Marvel Monday. I wanted to see this while it was in theaters... but it was during the terrible cold and flu season... so I didn't really want to get sick... I think I got the flu anyway... but whatever! I still wanted to see this movie when it came out on Blu Ray and I was really excited about it! We actually went out before a big rain storm to get it- which was kind of funny. I did watch this movie and I really liked it... but I'll save that for a Marvel Monday... unless I already posted that Marvel Monday because I might have! Lol.

Another one for Marvel Monday is Spider Man: Homecoming. I saw that this was on sale at Target and I wanted to get it. I did watch a little bit of it on Demand... but my tv connection doesn't always work that well with On Demand movies... so I dvred it... but we were running out of room... so I wanted to get it when it was on sale. I'm a pretty big Spider Man fan anyway- so I really look forward to watching it!

A little after I saw Solo I realized I really need to watch Star Wars movies more often... so I got The Last Jedi... maybe I'll start doing Star Wars Saturday soon. Lol. I did see The Last Jedi in theaters- so I've seen that already and I know I like it... but I want to see it in context with all the other Star Wars movies. Lol.

When I went to look for DVDS for my mom the first time I went to Target- they didn't have a lot I wanted on sale... but the second time they did... so I'm going to give 3 to my mom and I'm going to keep a few for myself... so yeah.

One of the movies I got the first night is The Big Sick. I know my mom wanted to see this when it was out and I wanted to see it also... so I got that with that in mind. I think I found some movies that might be more suited to my mom than this one... and either way- I'm watching all of these with my mom so there isn't really a huge difference. I just thought that she'd rather have the ones that I got her. This one is only available on DVD I think- but I'm okay with not having this on Blu Ray! I'm excited to watch this one.

The other one I got that I really just got for myself is Jumanji:Welcome To The Jungle. I got this the second day- so I had already picked things out for my mom... but I think this was on sale for $12 or something like that... so I wanted to see it and it was a good deal for a Blu Ray. When this was in theaters- I really didn't want to see it. I didn't think it looked great... but it does have a great cast and the reviews of this were all positive... so I eventually wanted to see it! It looks funny- I'm excited!

And what I got for my mom! The first night I saw Hidden Figures was on sale... I can't tell you guys how many times we've tivoed this movie and never watched the full thing... and we had to delete it because we needed some more space... so now we finally have it and we're going to watch it. And I'm going to review it!

My mom also really wanted to see The Greatest Showman when that was out... and this is one that I REALLY wanted to get her the first night- but it wasn't on sale...and not that I didn't want to get it because it wasn't on sale- but I know my mom would feel bad if it wasn't on sale and I got it for her... this I actually got in an Ultra 4K Blu Ray combo pack because that was a better sale. We don't have an Ultra 4k player... idk what that is even... but I'm excited to watch this! I know my mom will love this too!

And then I got The Darkest Hour on Blu Ray... which was on sale for a good discount. My mom really wanted to see this one in theaters- it wasn't really at the top of my list... but I will watch it at home and I'll probably give a review of. My grandfather liked these historical stories and Churchill was one of his heroes- so he would have loved this movie... and I know my mom was slightly disappointed in Dunkirk because she thought Churchill would be in that movie and he wasn't... but I think she'll like this one a lot!

So I'm excited to watch these! Let me know if you want any movie reviews... maybe I'll do like a week or something where I review all of these! That will be fun! But also- I might go into details on the special features and stuff... that way you guys know if they're worth buying or not. I know these aren't all brand new releases- but still. If a movie is on demand or on netflix- you don't always want to buy the DVD- or at least I don't... but if the special features are good enough maybe that helps? Idk I'm not too big on special features... but it can kind of make a difference between what I'd pay for a DVD. I'm guessing The Big Sick is a fantastic movie- but I'm also thinking there probably aren't a lot of special features and paying more than $10 for it might not be something I'd want. Idk.

Byeee!

Scribbles about TV: Jane The Virgin Review!

This I think is a surprise hit, so of corse I needed to watch it for myself to see! It's been getting a lot of critical buzz because it has been reviewed as "one of the best pilots of the season" and I also have been hearing a few critics saying that they don't think it will last because the word "virgin" is in the title... which is stupid. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin and if a show is good, its good and people should watch it... plus this did bring pretty high ratings for The CW so the critics that said that can suck it! Lol. Overall I really liked this show. One thing thats been bothering me a lot about the new Fall shows is that the characters aren't interesting enough. Especially the female characters. I thought that this showed a lot of really strong female characters that were interesting. This had a pretty big cast with A LOT of stuff going on for a pilot and most of the characters were female. That is a powerful thing to see on TV...

Scribbles About TV: Jane The Virgin Finale Review (SPOILERS)

So.... Can we talk about all the twists because there were a lot! I didn't even see all of them coming! Alrighty we start out in typical Jane The Virgin Mode with Jane's choice between Raphael and Michael... I'd be okay with either but I think I'm team Michael. Jane has a weird moment with Raphael and thinks she's better off without him and just having him be the father of her child. She's also starting to have some feelings for Michael again. Then she almost has the baby on the bus and some woman helps her and gets the bus driver to take her to the hospital. Rogellio and Xo are in Vegas and they get drunk and can't remember what happens, but they make it just in time to see Jane deliver a baby boy. I knew it would be a boy! Lets pause on that a little and go to Michael and his ex partner/friend with benefits who comes back says she has a lead on Sin Rostro, gives him an address where the plastic surgeon is and by the time Michael gets there, he's de...

September 2015: It List

Now that I do weekly favorites, I feel like these will be less surprising... but still. Some good things. 1) Pumpkin Spice Lattes- Its the most wonderful latte of the year! Lol. All the yes. Soooo much yes. Its so creamy and pumpkiny and delicious. It was what has been missing from my life for a long time and now its back and I think they get more and more delicious every year. And I know last year people were like "pumpkin spice isn't cool anymore." Have you had any? It is delicious!!!! I'm a big fan of the PSL. 2) Arrow- I've been wanting to watch this show for a while. The guy that plays Oliver is not only hot, but he was really funny and good on a talk show I saw him on... so that made me like "ohh I need to watch this." I'm also not super into comic books or anything, but I do like Batman and DC movies at least more than anything else and I didn't really realize that there were so many tv shows in the DC universe right now. There are a f...
