Arrested Development: Then and Now

So along with my Arrested Development series of posts here... I kind of wanted to go into what it was like watching and loving Arrested Development back when it was first on vs. now that it is a lot more popular and on Netflix.

So the most frustrating thing about liking it back when the original series was that you never really knew what was going to happen to the show... but I have to say that sort of made the show even funnier. The show CONSTANTLY mentions it's troubled status through plotlines and jokes. In one episode in season 2 they mention the housing order being dropped from 22 to 18... which is the number of episodes that were in season 2 compared to season 1. In the finale there are signs everywhere for a show called "Skating With Celebrities" which ultimately replaced Arrested Development's timeslot and the signs said "A Trainwreck on Ice." The whole episode SOBs was all pretty much about the show being cancelled... there's just a lot. It was one of the funniest things- espeically if you followed everything and you kind of knew what was happening.

The new series jokes more about some of the other projects the cast is working on. Transparent was referenced a few times as well as Jeffrey Tambor's awards for it... and Ron Howard's Han Solo movie... it's still good but not quite as funny.

It was also not very well heard of back then... basically if you watched this you were a pretty big comedy nerd/snob...especially at my age which was like 13... lol. There weren't a ton of 13 year old Arrested Development fans... so it wasn't the most fun thing ever. But it was cool because I was the only one that liked that...whereas now there are a ton of fans and I'm kind of annoyed by it... lol. There was an article I read recently that said something about kids that claimed they watched Arrested Development when it was on but they didn't. I really did. I think it was season 2 that I started to watch it... I probably didn't see that many episodes live on television tbh... but I did know about the show while it was still on TV... so yeah. That was my thing.

It was also kind of exciting when the cast wasn't huge to see them in other movies. Will Arnett became a big vocal actor and appeared in a lot of commercials and animated movies since then... David Cross was pretty famous before playing Tobias... but he was in movies like She's The Man and Alvin and The Chipmunks after... so it was nothing like Ed Helms or Steve Carell or anyone from The Office really... it was a lot different.

So I think that's everything... I hope it's entertaining for you guys... and it's a little bit of a history lesson I guess.

Also... I still don't know how to describe this show at all if someone were to ask me... I just kind of go with the narration before each episode. Lol.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
