The Thing About The 4th and 5th Seasons of Arrested Development...

Heyyy everyone! Welcome to The Daily Something! This is basically my new blog... where every day- I'll be blogging about something. I'm still going to be doing a lot of pop culture blogs... I still want to do movie and tv reviews and I want to even post some personal things and maybe even a few short fiction stories or maybe I'll even do poems or something... it's going to be different... but kind of the same too.

Just in case you're unfamiliar with this story of a wealthy family that lost everything... Michael Bluth is the one son keeping them all together- and this is how everyone is related!
Anyway- for the next few days- I want Need to talk about one of my favorite things ever: Arrested Development! The tv show- not the hip hop group...

So I'm not that critical about the newer seasons of the show. I loved the original cut of the 4th season... not nearly as much as seasons 1-3... but it was still good. I like the newly cut version a lot better but it was never bad! It was just... not the original... and here's why.

The first 3 seasons of Arrested Development were probably the most airtight, solid, funny things ever written. There was AT LEAST one joke per episode that called back to a previous episode of the show- or one that played a big part in a future story. No joke went unused... it all created something really big and spectacular.

I think season 2 had some of the best running gags. The blue handprints on the wall, the "her" jokes, all the nicknames for Anne... that's just not the type of thing you see on other shows. I also think episodes like Pier Pressure and Making a Stand are really different for other tv shows... it was a very elaborate storyline that I tried explaining in this post... but it's quite hard to explain and I'd rather not do that here. They are just really amazing episodes... trust me! The new seasons are more elaborate as a whole instead of having episodes with these elaborate plots. And that makes it good in it's own way... but it definitely isn't the same as the original series.
Here's just a little gif from the episode Pier Pressure... it's a fake arm used to scare the kids so that they could learn a lesson about yelling.

And my other mild critique of the new seasons would be that we might not get as satisfying of an ending as season 3's "Development Arrested." This finale perfectly mirrored the original series and it was just a really nice ending. If they had made a movie shortly after that I think it would have maybe been a little better... but honestly I'm happier that there are still new episodes of Arrested Development out every once and a while. It seems like a neverending thing... and I know it will probably end soon and I should accept that... but right now I'm just happy it's back- happy that there are new episodes and just kind of accepting it as it is. Also I'm happy all these talented actors got some recognition. Alia Shawkat I have seen in a lot of things recently and I think she's the funniest she's ever been in Season 5... so I'm happy about that.

Also... I know about the Arrested Development interview... I was upset about that- I understand why people aren't watching it... and I hope that they give the women on the show a bigger roles not just because of this... but also because Jessica Walter is ALWAYS flawless and Alia Shawkat was particularly funny this season... so yeah. That's just all that I'm going to say about that now... and that is it!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
