App Review: Sort it 3D

This is kind of a dumb app to review... but I've been playing it a lot lately and it is fun and it's just something easy to do. So, I'll share some screenshots of the game to show you more closely... but basically you have these tubes with these different colored balls in them and you have to try to get all the same color ball in one tube. see you can see how it looks.  And the app itself is a bit weird... I can recommend it because it's fun but the ads are very annoying... and most of them appear to be playable ads- but when you click on them to try to play they take you to the ad store and that is very annoying. And I also almost removed the ads- which of corse it would charge you for- by mistake... so that is scary too. I wouldn't recommend this if you don't have the more secure way to pay or download apps- and I wouldn't recommend getting this if you want to have it for your kids to play. I just don't know if it's safe enough for that. I...

APPyness: Duolingo

I've been learning Italian on this app called Duolingo and I have to say it is really fun. I don't know if its very practical... this isn't like the free app version of Rosetta Stone or anything, but if you're taking Italian, or any language in High School or college, this app might be a fun way to learn a little more and maybe study a bit.  I don't think that when I finish all of the things I'll suddenly be fluent in Italian... I think maybe I'll remember the Italian that I learned in college a little bit better, but I don't know that I'll even be as good as I was in my college Italian class... but I'm still trying to do it everyday because its one of those "You learn something new every day" type of deals. This is what I happen to be learning every day.  There is one major problem with this app and that is there is no reference or anything before... its just like an instant quiz. And usually the quizzes are easy. For example it...

APPyNess: Magic Kingdoms

This app is fun... but I think it would wait to download it until it updates a little. Its a pretty new app I believe and there are still parts that aren't available. I'm kind of stuck right now I think partially because there need to be updates to the game itself. There are still characters and parts of the park that are unavailable. I should probably explain the concept of the game too... its just Roller Coaster Tycoon but with Disney Parks and Disney Characters. You collect potions instead of coins or anything and there are tasks you have to do. Its fun because its like you're building a park but you also have to defeat villains and fulfill quests and things like that. One complaint I have with the game is that I love it right now... but I know I'm going to get bored with it and delete it. This isn't something I'll keep on my phone for very long. I'll probably delete it in a few months because that's what I do with games like this. Its made by the...

APPyness: Pokemon Go

The App everyone is talking about: Pokemon Go! I was excited about this because I was never good at the gameboy pokemon games. I loved the TV show and I collected the cards and the toys. One of the best moments of my life was getting the Pikachu Burger King toy.. but because I never played the game I feel a little excluded from the nostalgia. My main problem with the game boy games was that it was kind of hard to catch a pokemon... but this is pretty easy. You just look for them and then swipe your phone screen and hope they don't run away from you. I also like that it is a virtual reality game... but it doesn't really go overboard. Its done well but you still know that you're playing a videogame. You aren't sucked into the game too much. I like that they have the avatar trainers that you can customize... I'm a fan of any game you can customize like that. And you just find pokemon around where you're at basically. You can walk around your neighborhood or g...

APPyness: Couch 2 5K Review

So I hate running... really hate it! However, a lot of people I know were signing up for a local 5K. I was going to sign up just to walk instead of running, because that is also an option... but my dad signed up for the run, so I felt kind of wimpy only signing up for the walk. I mentioned how nervous I was about this 5k to a friend on instagram and she told me to download this app to help me get ready... so that is what I did! I like the app a lot! Its easy because it alternates between running and walking and it gradually changes so that you do more and more running and eventually you just run without stopping! Right now I'm on Week 3 and I just finished Day 1... and that was really really hard! It gets easier though and by the time you're on Day 3 you'll be ready for the next step. I should explain the week/ day part better. Every week takes 3 days and then you get sort of "leveled up" and the next week you do a little more running. As long as you are consi...

Un APPyNess- Latergramme Update

So this is just going to be a quick post tonight... but remember how I said I loved Latergramme a lot and I loved using it, it was so fun blah blah blah... and I loved it... and it is a good app... but there's one reason I decided not to keep the app on my phone. It limits the amount of posts you can schedule in a month for the free version... and I don't like that. Its just not worth it for me to sign up or pay for it so I just deleted it... Idk if I want to try any other app... I have a feeling they'll all have the same problem... so I'll just have to kind of wing it myself and post when I post. I'm not super happy with that... but its okay. Byeee! -Shannon

APPyness: Latergram

So I love scheduling my posts on here... and I really wanted to do that for instagram also... but there isn't a way to do that right now... but there are some apps that will give you reminders so that you can post them yourself. There are some pros and cons to this app...but yeah. Pros  -So easy to use. I thought it was going to be really hard to use... but it was actually super easy to figure out. - You can put a filter on instagram when you go to post it. It doesn't allow it in the app itself, but its easy enough to do on your own. -It's free! So that's a plus. -They ask for emails and say "We don't like spam and you probably don't either." And I trust them. Haven't had this app long... but I haven't gotten any emails yet, so thats good. - Just convient to have a scheduled time for your posts. Probably useful if you have a giveaway or one you want to enter daily. Lol. Cons  - Doesn't automatically copy the text if you write that...

Appyness: What's on My iPhone

So this is kind of a weird thing that I decided to do because I don't know what else to post today! I want to do another thing where I watch an older horror movie... but I haven't watched it yet! ... so lets see the apps! I just deleted a bunch, so that's a thing too. First I have the Utilities Folder on everyone's phone. I have Apple Mail, Maps, Videos, Stocks, Weather, Passbook... (idk what that is), Settings, newsstand, game center, notes, iTunes store and the app store. I don't use a ton of these... but yeah. Then I have my phonebook, clock, photos, camera, FaceTime, Podcasts and music. The Podcasts I'm currently subscribed to are Welcome To Nightvale, which I'm just starting to get back into and listen to some of the older ones again. This American Horror Story Podcast... which is super helpful and really great. Kumail Nanjiani's X Files Files, which I like a lot... this got me back into the X Files. The Blacklist Table Reads... they haven...

APPyness: Useful Ipad Apps for College Students

So... Full Disclosure... I'm writing this in June and probably won't post till August lol... but now that I'm done with college, I thought that I would share some of my favorite apps for the Ipad. These all got me through college. I used them a lot... or a little at least lol. I'll break it down into different categories and explain the specific apps and why I like them. College Specific/ Research Papers  Rutgers App- Now I'm just using the Rutgers app as an example because I went to Rutgers, I have the app on my phone... I'm sure pretty much every college has their own app. The two features I used most on these were the features for the online classes and especially the bus schedule. I only commuted to school during my last semester, and I went to a smaller Rutgers campus that just got a bus service this year... so this was good timing for the app and it ended up being super useful. I also took 2 online classes this semester and both of the sites that they ...

AppyNess- What's On My Iphone

Heyyy all, so I do these app reviews and I've seen people do What's on my Iphone things before, so I figure why not tell you all that. I don't use a whole lot of apps and I don't have too too many, but the ones that are on my ipod I tend to use quite a bit. I'm going to split this into "Pages" because thats sort of how my iphone is organized. you know like when you turn the screen and there are other apps. I arrange it so that there are more pages so that I can see the picture of Lucky on the windowsill that we took before he passed away. That is my current home screen and I don't really want to ever change that. It's such a cute pic and I just miss my Lucky Dog and it makes me think of him. And my home screen is a really cute picture of my new puppy Spencer in a pillow, which is also cute and always cheers me up when I'm having a rough day. So the first "Page" are the basic things that come on the iphone. The Utilities folder...

Appyness #5- Apps You should Download

Sooo I'm gonna do something a little different today. Instead of downloading an app just to play with and delete, I'm going to tell you my most loved, most trusted apps. I don't think I have a whole lot of apps, and a lot of the ones I use a lot are pretty popular ones... so I'm just going to talk about the ones maybe you need to download still. Ohhh and also these are all free apps which are pretty much all I download. 1) Stitcher- This is one of the most entertaining apps in my opinion. If you like podcasts or want to listen to podcasts, or like comedians or news... this is a great app for you. Basically it lets you listen to any podcast you want whenever you want. It's so much easier than downloading each show or subscribing, I find I don't listen to shows then. My favorite podcasts right now are How Did This Get Made where Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas talk about crazy bad movies with a guest... usually a hilarious comedian. It...

Appyness #3- Smule Autorap

Sooo while playing Temple Run I watched a video to gain more gems and the video was for something that autotuned your voice and made it into a rap. Thought that would be fun to try. I've tried apps from Smule before... I kind of feel like its a scam for some reason. They try to get you to buy so many things and watch all their videos to get Smula so that you can buy more songs. Idk, I'm not a huge fan of that. I get it, but sometimes their videos are inappropriate. Theres one app clearly marketed towards children called Crime City thats like an app version of Grand Theft Auto... I think thats wrong. I'm not against GTA or anything... but I think violent video games being able to access all times of all day are a little much. Idk. Also it asked for push notifications like 3 times... no I don't want push notifications from this damn thing. And it needs access to your microphone... which is kind of a hassle cause you need to go to settings and stuff... idk. Sooo lemm...

Appyness #2 Temple Run

Hello everyone today I'm going to review an app and tell you how much I like it... or how (h)"appy" it makes me. And today... I'm going to do Temple Run 2! Basically I looked at all the free games and this one was on the top free game... at least I think. I know Temple Run was a big craze, I never actually played it, but now I'm going to try the second one. Alrighty here I go...  This is fun. Basically its this ginger guy running away from a gorilla monster and you have to swipe to jump over things and swipe down to go under things and tilt for money... ugh its fun. I'm on level 2 now.  This is frustrating. I don't like getting eaten by this weird monster. It looks like a gorillas body but with a skull face, its face looks like cubone.  Now I'm looking at the upgrades. There are a few different characters here lets see if I can find out some stuff about these guys... or at least give my impression of them.  So the ginger guy tha...

Appyness- So I downloaded Flappy Bird

I read a buzzfeed article saying that this game ruins lives. It is addictive and impossible to win. So naturally, I decided to download this and do a blog about it because I thought It'd be quite funny and I want to know what the fuss is all about. It should be noted I just downloaded Candy Crush and I'm still addicted to that... as well as several types of solitaire games- most recently Accordian solitaire which is pretty damn impossible. Also my life feels empty because Coven ended and I did absolutely nothing today and made no social interactions whatsoever... so this is perfect timing. I have like nothing going on in my life... so yeah. Let's get on with this. If I don't return to this blog ever, I've been sucked into the world of the game and nothing matters anymore... lets get on with it! Okay that was... disappointing. I mean I thought it would at least be fun, but it wasn't even fun. I wanted to play until I got at least 4 points... but I couldn...
