I know a little about writing tv and some things that are good and bad, and I know some random trivia facts that you may find interesting... so I'm going to mix them together and combine them. A cold open is the scene that roles before the opening credits. On The Office there was a Cold Open where Kevin makes a big bowl of chili for the office and spills it all over the floor. Mindy Kaling was one of the writers at the time and was very against this cold open. She fought the writers hard on it and threatened to quit because of it. They used it, she didn't quit. Everyone was fine. She writes about this in her book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me. There was actually a sitcom made called Heil Honey about Hitler and Ava Braun living next to a Jewish family.
