Throwback Thursday: Riverdale vs. Gossip Girl

So this is kind of a different Throwback Thursday. I started watching Riverdale... and I finished it- and it reminded me of Gossip Girl- so I watched the first episode of that... and while the tone of the show is similar... the biggest differences between the two kind of have to do with when the shows were first aired... and there's definitely been some progress made since Gossip Girl ended. I'm just going to get into the big difference between the two and that is how they handle sexual harassment and assault. In the Pilot episode of Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass forces himself on Jenny Humphrey and Dan and Serena need to get her away from him... I haven't re-watched further on in the episode... but I remember Chuck kind of becoming someone I rooted for. I liked him with Blair and I wanted the two of them to be together... and he didn't really change at all to kind of warrant me rooting for him. I actually found it kind of hard to watch his parts and I fast forwarded them...

TV Renewals: Fox and The CW

Allrighty! Let's go to Fox now that we've talked about NBC, ABC and CBS! Fox  American Grit- No idea what this is... sounds gritty and american-y.  Bob's Burgers- No surprise there! Almost everyone I know loves this show!  Brooklyn 99- I believe I've heard next season is the last... so yeah? I liked this show... haven't watched it because it's on Fox and I seem to forget about Fox's shows.  Empire- Little Surprise there, despite lower ratings than its first season.  The Exorcist- The pilot of this was kind of terrible... so I'm surprised.  Gotham- Okay show... but I kind of lost interest in it after the first season. Maybe I'll catch up... maybe I won't.  Hell's Kitchen- This was renewed through season 18... I'm sure it will be on 20 seasons.  The Last Man On Earth- I liked this show... but again with shows on Fox I just kind of forget.  Lethal Weapon- Again... good show that I almost never watched....

Scribbles About TV: Tv News: What got cancelled?

I feel like A LOT of shows were cancelled this year... and I actually did a lot of reviews on them... at the beginning of the TV season I was all set to watch EVERY PREMIERE and review each show... whether I had seen it or not... but that was extremely difficult. I did end up watching at least one episode of a lot of shows though... so that was good too I guess. I have some insight into these shows!  I'll also talk about what got renewed next week maybe because... why not? ABC  Abc had the most casualties so let's start there  American Crime - This won ABC multiple Emmy's and got rave reviews since season 1... but the ratings weren't as amazing. I didn't really like how season 1 ended at all... there was no real closure... all of the characters were kind of bad people... and it was just really hard to watch so while I did watch the whole first season... it wasn't that enjoyable. I heard season 2 was better (from my sister) and Season 3 got a lot of cri...

Scribbles About TV: Shows I Bingewatched in January

I thought this might be kind of fun... especially since I've been watching so many shows recently! I have reviews of all these shows already... I'm just kind of going to go over why I've been bingewatching them and stuff like that! A Series of Unfortunate Events  This was the netflix show of the month... they've been pretty up to date with their releases and for the most part they have 1 or 2 shows every month. Still have to watch The OA... but I really liked this also! It was funny and even though it was for kids... I still thought it was very entertaining and funny. I've started reading the books again because of it. I think I finished it so quickly because 1) nothing else was really on 2) You kind of have to watch 2 episodes at a time because 2 episodes finish 1 book 3) It is genuinely suspenseful 4) I really liked the 4th book and I was upset that they had never shown that in any movie or anything... so I feel like I've been waiting 13 years for that......

Scribbles About TV: Supernatural Season 4 pt 1

Lazurus Rising  Good start to the season! Ruby is back and is now played by Sam's wife in real life... not at the time, but now they're married. I kind of liked Katie Cassidy better, but I can get used to it. I also like Castiel, he seems like a good character to me... Pretty cool. You can tell the show is changing a little bit, but I still think I'm going to like it. Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester This was pretty cool. I loved Bobby's ghost panic room and I thought it was a cool episode. I like Castiel... I didn't love it, and don't feel as strongly about this episode... but its a cool concept. In The Beginning  This one was great. I loved Dean seeing how his parents got engaged and what happened with Azazel and that his mom was really the hunter and just wanted a good life for Sam and Dean. It also showed a lot about her family, which Dean didn't really know about too much. And of corse how John got the Impala. It was a really good...

Scribbles About TV: Supergirl Review

So one of the shows I was most excited about this fall was Supergirl... and after seeing most of the other shows that debuted and loving them... I have to say this had a lot of competition. But I was still excited and I loved it and I think it's going to get even better. There was nothing wrong with this show. It was really cute, it was exciting, you could watch this with the whole family and there wouldn't be anything super inappropriate. They didn't make her costume too sexy and they really didn't sexualize Kara at all, which I think is super important and powerful. If I were to compare her to any other character from TV, I would say someone from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or Dana Scully or someone. She's a very strong female character and she's not the only one on the show. There are plenty of really awesome ladies on the show. The characters were all really good too. Her sister was interesting, her friends from work, the photographer character I thought was r...

Scribbles About TV: Crazy Ex Girlfriend Review

So when I saw the preview of this I was like "this is going to be stupid and it's not going to last." Then when it got close to the premiere I was like "Are you crazy Shannon???? This is totally going to be your new favorite show and you're going to be obsessed!" So... thats kind of that. I watched half of it when it started and I thought it was okay, it was definitely something I wanted to watch more of and I wanted to see where it went... it looked like it had potential. Then I watched the whole episode and I really loved it. Its a funny satire and I love that they chose to do a musical with it. I think its brilliant because it shows the way that she is very dramatic and the last time she was truly happy was when she was at drama camp and she was singing and Josh was there. Plus it makes sense, she didn't move just for Josh, she barely knows Josh... but he does happen to live there and she did like everything he said about West Covina. Combine qu...

Scribbles About TV: Supernatural Season 3

So fun Fact: Season 3 of Supernatural was a little shorter, as were all the seasons of the shows this particular year because of the Writer's Strike. So I'm just doing this in one big part and then I'll probably comment on when the big hiatus is. I'm excited that there's a Christmas episode... seems like it might be a fun season! The Magnificent Seven  I thought this was a cool concept. I didn't know thats what Se7ven was about until Dean said "what's in the box... but I liked seeing how Supernatural took a spin on it anyway. And I thought it was cool how he was describing everyone as what they were. Dean obviously lust and I think he said gluttony also. Sam is pride and was fighting pride. It was really cool. I liked Dean's reactions to everything... it was just good. The Kids are Alright  So shocked that kid wasn't Dean's! That kid was Dean! Lol, I thought this would be a little funnier than it was... and it wasn't funny at all r...

Man Crush Monday: Sam and Dean Winchester

I've been watching Supernatural recently and I'm quite a fan of the two brothers that are the main characters of the show. Mainly, because they're hot... but they are also pretty cool characters and I figured they are MCM worthy. 1) They don't always get along, but they work well together- There are so many times when they fight and disagree. Its very like Mulder and Scully where one would relate more to one thing and the other to another... Sometimes Sam sees "this is important this is supernatural" and sometimes Dean is like "no I don't really see the point" and sometimes its the other way around. They both work well together though and they respect the other's needs for investigating a certain thing. They're both very understanding of one another and they just work really well. 2) They're able to see past the problems and jealousy that they have with each other- There are so many times when Sam thinks Dean is their dads favorit...

Scribbles About TV: Fall Schedule for The CW. Very disorganized lol.

Okay... so I can't really find the schedule for the CW... and they only have a few new shows coming on... but I think they're the channel I'm most excited for so let me try to piece this together and figure out what show is on when and when they start... this may be confusing... I'll link the schedule right  here . You can kind of see what I mean... lol. Monday-  Crazy Ex- Girlfriend- This is a new show and the series premier is October 12. I think Jane the Virgin is on at 9... maybe this is on at 8? Not sure... doesn't list times. This doesn't look good. Its a musical I think... which is never a good thing on tv... and its about a girl that is trying to find her ex boyfriend or something. I could see this actually being amazing... but the musical thing has me thinking no... lol. Jane The Virgin- This was my favorite new show of last year... I may have said that about Blackish or Fresh off The Boat too... not sure... but this was probably the real favorite...

Scribbles about TV: Jane The Virgin Review!

This I think is a surprise hit, so of corse I needed to watch it for myself to see! It's been getting a lot of critical buzz because it has been reviewed as "one of the best pilots of the season" and I also have been hearing a few critics saying that they don't think it will last because the word "virgin" is in the title... which is stupid. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin and if a show is good, its good and people should watch it... plus this did bring pretty high ratings for The CW so the critics that said that can suck it! Lol. Overall I really liked this show. One thing thats been bothering me a lot about the new Fall shows is that the characters aren't interesting enough. Especially the female characters. I thought that this showed a lot of really strong female characters that were interesting. This had a pretty big cast with A LOT of stuff going on for a pilot and most of the characters were female. That is a powerful thing to see on TV...
