Movie Monday: Wonder Woman 1984... It Has Some Problems...

Okay so... this movie has problems... And the weird thing is... I still really liked it... but there's SOOOOO much wrong with it that... I don't even know where to begin.

Now the movie opens with a flashback of Diana as a little girl with an accent that slips in and out and it shows her trying to cheat to win a competition by cheating and the negative effects of cheating.

Then the movie opens with another opening scene of Diana in the present which is 1984. She's at a mall in her wonder woman costume saving people and doing Wonder Woman things. This scene is unrelated to just about anything that happens in the events of the movie... but enjoy it because it is the one time in the whole movie that you'll be able to see Wonder Woman doing Wonder Woman things... Literally... it's just... ugh. If this wasn't a Wonder Woman movie it would still have problems but maybe it would have been less disappointing.

Before I mention the thing with Chris Pine returning... I should mention the main plot of the movie. There's this stone that gets discovered that will grant your wishes... a Monkey's Paw type of thing. And that has bad consequences but the rules of it are also very weird. Diana never says "I wish Steve- a guy that I had a kiss with over 60 years ago would come back to life." She just thinks about him... and he returns... in another man's body... It's REAL weird and the implications made by that are just something I don't like to think about a lot.

Then there's Kristin Wiig... who doesn't really do that much villaining- which I guess shouldn't be shocking since Diana doesn't do that much heroing... and Pedro Pascal playing a Nathan Fillion character. Like right when he came on screen my boyfriend was like "That's Pedro Pascal! The Mandalorian!" And I was like "It just feels like they couldn't get Nathan Fillion for the movie." And he agreed... Pedro Pascal is actually the main villain of the movie I'd say because the stone ends up giving him too much power and he just about causes the destruction of the world.

There are a lot more things wrong with the movie... the ending of the movie just kind of... there wasn't that much of a problem to begin with... it ends with an easy solution... and there's a scene where Wonder Woman and Steve steal a plane... and it's very unrealistic... but overall it just has some problems.

I still honestly would say to watch this movie whenever you can. I would not say to go to a theater, pay a lot of money and expose yourself to the virus to see it... but if it's back on HBO Maxx in a few months... it isn't the worst thing you could watch all year and it is kind of a fun movie. I think everyone in the movie did a great job- I love Gal Gadot and I think she's perfect for Wonder Woman. I thought Pedro Pascal was really good in this movie too. I love The Mandalorian but I think this is the first time I had seen his face in a movie... which was cool! I also liked the setting being 1984... that made everything pretty cool too.

Overall I'd say to watch this movie... but manage your expectations and don't really expect a masterpiece.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
