Marvel Monday: Doctor Strange Review

Okay so Doctor Strange! This is a fun movie based on a rather obscure Marvel character... and this is kind of why I like Disney and Marvel's current arrangement of sorts. Right now as I'm writing this Disney is looking to buy Fox and as good as I think that would be... I think that not having access to the entire Marvel Movie library has led them to be a little bit more creative. I feel like if they had all the Marvel movies- we might just have all Spider Man movies and we wouldn't have the MCU we know today...so I'm always really happy with things like this movie and the new Cloak and Dagger show- which I think is great... I'm sure if they do get Fox everything will be fine... but still! I'm glad there is a Doctor Strange movie!

With that little ramble out of the way let's get into what I like about this movie! As far as "Origin Story" movies go I think this is a really good one. It quickly establishes who Stephen Strange is and what he's like... the motivation behind why he changes... and then his change. Everything happens pretty fast and it all just kind of works together. All of the side characters are interesting and they add to the story also... so that's good. I know that everyone loves the first Iron Man movie... I've never gotten through watching it because it's a little slow. This one is a lot better paced.

This movie is visually impressive also. I love the way that they show him going to different dimensions... and it's kind of a cool contrast to see the hospital setting and then the place that he goes to learn how to travel through dimensions and then when they show him traveling through places. I love the scene with the apple and then how that ends up coming to play at the end of the movie also... it's just really good!

I'm probably going to get into this in a few weeks... but I really liked the ending of this movie also. It was kind of a nice close- but we still knew that there would be more with Doctor Strange. I think a lot of the origin stories do that... but some of the sequels kind of leave you hanging a little bit. This is part of why I like watching the Marvel movies out of order... but this one fits no matter when you watch it!

I also feel like this can show that these minor characters can hold up without being in The Avengers or another movie. When Captain America: Civil War came out I feel like they were kind of leaning more towards a lot of crossovers between characters other than just in The Avengers movies. I think Doctor Strange is pretty cool because I don't think he needed anyone else. Besides the brief cameo from Thor in the end credits- he held up well all on his own and I hope they do more of these. I want a Scarlett Witch movie is what I'm getting at here. I have a feeling that might not be possible, but I love Scarlett Witch and I want more female superheroes.

So that is everything I want to say about Doctor Strange.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
