Blogmas Day 1: The Grinch Movie Review

Hello everyone! Happy Blogmas! I know my 13 Days of AHS did not pan out as expected... but this year I would really like to do all 25 days of Blogmas... I already wrote my blogs for the next 3 days... we have some more movie reviews... but I decided to start on the most recent movie released and the one that is definitely the best out of all the movies: Illumination Studios The Grinch.

So I'm a pretty big fan of Illumination to begin with. I feel like they're a little underrated... Compared to studios like Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks which have been around for years... Illumination is newer and it hasn't had as many hits. I love Despicable Me, I love Sing... I've never seen Secret Life of Pets or The Lorax... but still. They have good stuff.

I think this movie is the most impressive animation that the Studio has done. Whoville looked really magical and christmasy... the characters were all super super cute... Cindy Lou Who and her friends were adorable and I cried every time Max was on screen because he was just so cute and he reminded me of my own dog. It was very beautifully done.

One thing that I liked about this movie was that it was really simple. I do really like the Jim Carey Grinch movie- but that has a lot of backstory and kind of how he became The Grinch... which I think is really nice for a Live Action movie... but I'm glad they didn't go that deep into it in this cartoon. They actually did a little more backround on Cindy Lou Who- which I thought was really great and pretty cute.

They had Pharrel Williams was the narrator of the movie- and I thought he did a great job. The voice cast was really good too. Benedict Cumberbatch sounded like he had a lot of fun being The Grinch... and it was just a really good pick. I think he was kind of sarcastic and funny... but you could also see that he did have a heart and his heart just wanted to grow.

Overall- this movie is definitely worth the ticket price... it's really cute and I feel like it is a holiday classic. I would watch this maybe even a little more often than the Jim Carrey version... although I do have to say I really love all versions of The Grinch... and I have a lot of fun reading the book to my niece.

So that is everything! I hope you guys like it!

Bye!
-Shannon

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
