Blogmas Day 15: Christmas Movies: Good and Bad

In general- I'm a fan of Christmas Movies. There are some that are particularly bad... and yet I still watch them every year and enjoy them... this is going to be more of me going over the worst parts of Christmas movies... and things that just kind of bother me.

THE BAD

1) Santa in Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

I know people are complaining about Rudolph a lot this year... and I don't necessarily agree with everything that they're saying... but at the same time the Santa in Rudolph has some problems. He mocks a baby reindeer for having a red nose... that's not cool. So while I'm not super offended by Rudolph or up in arms about it or anything... yeah the Santa in Rudolph is not the best. #notmysanta am I right???

2) The Grinch's Heart is Down a Size and A Half???
So in the Jim Carey Grinch movie there's a scene early on in the movie where the Grinch checks the Heart Chart and says "Down another size and a half." This means that the Grinch's heart doesn't really grow 3 sizes... it just grows another size and a half. That means the Grinch is probably not that bad of a guy- he's just a little grumpy and he gets a little grumpier around Christmas times. Which I guess is relatable... but I don't know. That seems less dramatic than the original version.

3) The Polar Express and Disney's A Christmas Carol
Okay... I love Christmas movies and I kind of try to avoid these 2 at all costs. And every time I watch one of them I think "well this isn't terrible..." But they aren't the most fun movies... they aren't animated that nicely... the characters are very bland and not enough to make a story... it just doesn't work for me when you have these incredible, classic tales and when you make it a cartoon its just... meh. I don't know. It's weird.

THE GOOD

1) The Christmas Chronicles- Okay so this is definitely one of the best Christmas movies I've seen in years. One thing I love about Santas in Christmas movies is that when you can watch it at any age and actually believe in Santa... and this did that for me. It was a really sweet story and it just kind of hit all the right notes and messages for me. Plus it wasn't the same Santa that we're used to seeing, or the same story we're used to... it's just a nice newer version of a great Christmas Story. I love it.

2) The Santa Clause Series- Honestly- these have been a favorite of mine this year. I think it's because I always tend to watch Free Form and they haven't been airing my 2 favorite Christmas Movies, Elf and Christmas Vacation... so I've gone to watching The Santa Clause 3 over and over again because it is always on... and I never really watched it before but what a cute movie! I love how close Scott and his family are... I love Jack Frost... and I like that it kind of criticizes some of the commercialism of the holidays. It's just something I appreciate this year and I love it.

3) The end of Elf- Elf is one of my favorite christmas movies... and I have to say I always feel the Christmas Magic when I watch the ending in particular. This is something I feel like even my parents who don't love the movie can enjoy the ending of and enjoy too.

4) The Netflix Series Christmas Specials- So this year Netflix put out 2 special episodes of TV Shows that ended before Christmas. They had Aggretsuko's We Wish You A Metal Christmas and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's A Midwinter's Tale. Both of these were amazing... I watched Aggretsuko with my boyfriend because that was the first thing we talked about when we started talking... and I watched Sabrina with my mom- who hasn't seen the show before and although she was a little lost with some of the plot points- I think she enjoyed it and it was chilling. I hope they keep doing this because it's a nice way to hold fans over for the next season... plus on Netflix they don't always air around Christmas so you don't always get Christmas episodes... so this is a fun way to still give us Christmas episodes!

And that is everything! I hope you guys like this! merry Blogmas... even though I only did 15 days instead of 25... I have some posts planned for January already- so hopefully I can stick to blogging daily in the New Year!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
