Blogmas Day 6: A Christmas Day in NYC with my family

I wrote a blog like this last blogmas... and I have another one this year. The annual NYC Macy's trip with my family and my brother in laws family to take my niece to see Santa was here once again... and this trip was a lot different than the last trip... but just as fun.

So last year when we did this my niece was almost 1... this year she's almost 2- so she's a little more playful, a little more alert about some things... and its just really cute to see what a difference a year makes.

We took the train up...which was a lot of fun for the baby! She really loves watching trains go by and she was so excited to actually be on one! She had a fun time with it. I had a nap because I was up early and I had no coffee... and now working retails around the holidays... if I see an opportunity for a nap I take it.

Then we went to the city and again... the baby was excited! She saw the people, the lights the noises... she just loved it. Also there were animals everywhere and she loves seeing animals! Whether it was a dog or a bird or a squirrel... she was just really excited!

Then we ate at only the finest New York Dining establishment: McDonalds. Yep... McDonalds! Which... is fine. It's an easy place to eat with little kids and she loved her Ralph Breaks The Internet Toy car thing... so that was good.

Then we went to Macys! We had an appointment with Santa- and we got there a little early... so we went to the bathroom and then went upstairs to Santa Land! I love the Macy's Santa Land section... its got so much detail to it. I think one of my favorite scenes was a note that said "I O U- Dasher" with some crumbs around it... like Dasher took Santa's cookies and wrote him an IOU note.

All of the elves in Santa Land were very nice too. They all seemed very happy to be working in Santa land... which I know can be hard around the holidays. It was really fun and they were really great.

They also had a selection of FAO Schwartz toys downstairs at Macy's and the Baby chose a doggy toy that she loves... but then saw an elephant toy... which she also loved. Luckily, she had her grandparents from both sides of the family there... so she got both toys! I like seeing the FAO Schwartz toys again... and it's just cute seeing her choose her toys and how much she loves her toys.

After she took a nap on the subway- we went to the Union Square Christmas Markets... which were a lot of fun. We go there every year... this year I got some stickers, I got 2 Lin Manuel Miranda Stickers- one for me and one for my sister and 2 David Bowie Stickers- one for me and one for my boyfriend. And at the Strand Bookstore stand I got a magnet that said "I am not A-Moosed" because if you didn't know- my most popular blog I've ever written is A List of Moose Puns... so I was A-moosed by the magnet. And I got a beanie from Strand also- because I like Strand Book Store and I was wearing red and I didn't have any red beanies... so that seemed perfect!

So then we had a quick visit to Starbucks, a subway ride and a train ride back home... which I took a nap in again.

And that was the day! It was a lot of fun. It was my sister's birthday also- so that was a fun way to celebrate... and I was happy to be part of the celebration!

And I should be going back on Friday with my Boyfriend... so I'll be sure to blog about that too because this is our first Christmas as a couple and our first time going to New York together... so I'm really excited.

Bye!
-Shannon

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
