John Wick Chapter 2 Review

So overall I love the John Wick series... but this is probably the weakest movie in the series. It's still an important movie that bridges the gap between the first and the third movie really well... but it's my least favorite John Wick movie.

Let's talk about what I didn't love about this movie... the plot is much harder to understand than the plot of the first movie. It's got a lot of layers to it and it gets into the world of the movie... which is good but I feel like this one movie was 2 separate movies. Basically the first half of the movie is John being forced into a mission... and then once that ends it's the person that sent him on the mission going after him... and it just isn't quite as exciting. Plus I really thought the ending of the first movie did a good job of wrapping everything up while still showing new problems and those problems weren't really addressed in this movie. It made sense... but it wasn't the best of the movies.

The expectations I had from the end of the first movie were not met in this movie. I was surprised that there were a lot of new villains and... Idk I was hoping he would avenge the death of his friend from the first movie... which they never really mention. The new villain has a marker for John which means John owes him a favor... and then things just go from there.

There were still some recognizable faces in this movie: Common, Ruby Rose, Laurence Fishburne. All great performances... Common's scene was very exciting to watch in particular... I just really liked it.

Some of the best parts of this movie are that it really shows us the world of assassins. I feel like the ending of the first movie introduced us to the world but this movie and especially the third REALLY highlight everything.

And we do FINALLY get to see John Wick's Pencil trick that they mentioned in the first movie... I'm glad that they showed that because I really was expecting them to show it in the first one!

The movie ends with a cliffhanger... which is interesting. Without spoiling it too much the first movie didn't really have high stakes for John Wick because the villains weren't much of a threat... but in this movie the villains are more of a threat and there definitely is a chance that there could be some real trouble for John Wick in the third movie. It set it up really well.

So overall I'd say this one was okay... this is one I'd say to see once before the third movie and then again after... which is what my boyfriend and I are planning on doing.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
