Movie Review: Harley Quinn Birds Of Prey

Hey guys! I'm at least kind of back! I wanted to start March 1st... but I'm a few days late to the game... but anyway I have some movie reviews written already and I've been watching a lot of movies so... this might be a movie review heavy blog for a while... but I think I'll have some book reviews, possibly food reviews and  some other lifestyle types of things...  I have MANY ideas.

This review is also probably irrelevant- I think it's still in theaters but... I'm not really sure. It's not getting good reviews and people just don't seem to be seeing it... but I really enjoyed it. It's not a masterpiece or anything but I had a lot of fun with this movie and I'd kind of recommend it. I'm not sure I can FULLY recommend it because I've heard so many people dislike it... but I liked it.

So I do have to say this was the first movie I saw of the year in a theater and I have been keeping track of the movies I've been seeing with a review out of 5 stars and honestly I gave this 2 and a half stars. It's not a fantabulous movie... but it was one that kept me entertained for the whole length of the movie and I'd even say I would buy the blu ray and watch it again. I understand the complaints about this movie and I have kind of had second thoughts on the movie based off what other people are saying. I've heard people don't love the design of Harley Quinn in these new movies, people don't love the Gotham City represented in this universe, and... I can agree with that. After seeing Joker which I think depicts Gotham in the scariest, darkest and probably best way... This Gotham didn't really feel like Gotham to me. Harley Quinn's design is a little over-sexualized. I think Margot Robbie does a perfect job of playing her...but they didn't totally need that design for Harley Quinn.

But I do really love the costumes and the colors of this movie. There's just something I like about a bright colorful movie- especially with this being kind of a break up movie. I just loved all of Harley and everyone else's outfits. I almost bought the Caution Tape Jacket- it's definitely my style- but Spencer would tear it apart. Spencer is my maltese lol.

I liked all the character choices also. I really liked Black Canary and Huntress... kind of wish they had been in the movie a little bit more. Black Canary had a lot of screen time- but Huntress has a really good backstory too and it seems like they just kind of threw her in this when they probably could have given her her own movie... and Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya kind of felt like they were just tacked onto this girl gang... and Idk they maybe could have done more. Ewan McGreggor was also great... one of the most underrated and versatile actors out there. Chris Messina was also great and I think he's a versatile actor also... his character I didn't like as much but I did love to hate Black Mask. Also Margot Robbie is totally perfect as Harley Quinn. It was good that she got her own movie rather than just being in with the Suicide Squad.

Also I should mention I did not see Suicide Squad before seeing this movie. I saw it after and honestly... I didn't like Suicide Squad at all. I thought it was really boring and... there was just SO MUCH wrong with it. Maybe I'll write a separate post on that because... I have thoughts.

And I didn't even really talk about the plot of this movie... it was kinda weird... I'll give away some details here because... well the movie's probably almost out of theaters and it isn't really popular anyway... Harley Quinn and Joker break up... and Harley lets people know that they're no longer together... and everyone is after her because she no longer has the protection she did when she was with Joker. So Black Mask is the most dangerous of everyone that is after her and he's missing a diamond that Cassandra Cain pickpocketed from him. Cassandra is a teenage kid that swallows the diamond when the police get her... and now Harley has to kidnap her and make her poop... Which is kinda dumb... and there's more to the movie than that... but a big plotpoint is making this girl go to the bathroom... I didn't even really notice that until the movie was about that until after I heard someone else review it... and then it bothered me a little bit and that might effect how I re-watch the movie. I'd still rewatch it... but it is kind of an immature humor to it.

Anyway I hope you guys like this review! I'm going to review Sonic the Hedgehog and Invisible Man this week too... plus all 3 John Wick Movies... I read a couple of books and I saw Knives Out so those will be out this month too!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
