Chart Chat: 3.7.16

Alrighty! I think I'll do box office, music and iTunes movies... to see if the Oscars made a difference in that. So here we go! Start off with music!

Music

5) Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots- Lol. I was watching a Periscope with Brendon Urie from Panic at The Disco... which is absolutely crazy btw... there are so many people on at once, I'm never able to comment and the people that do comment ask the dumbest questions that he doesn't answer over and over and over again... so that's annoying... but someone kept asking "Are you the singer from Twenty One Pilots" and he's not... lol.

Anyway... this song I liked when I listened to the sample a few months ago... then I heard it on the radio and I was like... nahhh let's see whats on the other stations... and now I'm okay with it. So that's a weird journey for a song to take.

4) Work by Rihanna ft. Drake- Not really in a place to listen to the sample and comment on this right now... but I like the combo of Rihanna and Drake. They did that other song years ago and my roommate at the time played it way too much so I hate it of corse... but this is probably good... lol. I hear everyone talk about this, quote it... but I'm not really in the loop.

3) My House by Flo Rida- Again... not sure I know this one and I'm not really in a place to listen to the thing right now... but I don't know. I feel like Flo Rida was pretty good years ago... and then he was a little dancier on his last singles and that was good... but got a little tiring... so idk. Typically songs called "My House" are pretty good... so maybe it'll be good.

2) No by Meghan Trainor- Meghan Trainor is really talented... no denying that... but much like Adele... I'm just tired of her. But I feel like despite that I like Adele and know that she is probably the most talented singer of my time... whereas Meghan Trainor I just think is alright. She does different songs sort of... but all her songs end up sounding the same... and yeah. I like the one she did with John Legend. That was okay... but other than that... not a big fan... so I doubt I'll like this song. I think its about rejection though... so thats cool. Again haven't heard it and I can't easily listen to it now... but its nice she has something new out. I know everyone is probably tired of All About That Bass at this point.

1) 7 Years by Lukas Graham- Idk who Lukas Graham even is... is he a country singer or a boy band? Ohhhh okay I know this song. I listened to it by mistake... lol. This is a good song! Did not expect that to be number 1... but that's kinda cool. I like it.

So this was a successful music chart. Good job music! Also he is neither country nor boy band... interesting.

Box Office Movies

5) Gods of Egypt- OOO this didn't do well... and it was probably expensive to make! I think there was some criticism for this for turning a bible story into an action movie or having a mainly American cast in Gods of Egypt... Idk if either of those statements is true of the movie... let me check...  Okay not a bible story... and I think the main actor is british... but still he's a white guy, and that usually annoys people. This has been out for 2 weeks, it made 22.8 million in total... but this is its 2nd weekend and it only made 5 million... and that's not good. It'll make more money overseas, so it might not be a total flop... but this cost 140 million to make... so thats kind of bad.

4) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot- I'm more excited to see this one! I love Tina Fey... again this has some criticism for having English and American actors playing Arab characters... but I've heard this is a good movie. My friend liked it and some of her army friends that were deployed said it was fairly accurate... and also that Tina Fey's character was kind of a badass... so that's exciting. I just got the memoir that this movie is loosely based off of... they changed the main character's name so I wouldn't think these are going to be exactly the same... but I'm excited to read it and see the movie!

3) Deadpool- His healing factor must have slowed down a little bit... but its still working! Lol. This is a great movie. Probably my favorite superhero movie... I like Deadpool a lot and its so funny. I recommend this. I have a review on it somewhere here... not going to link it yet... but I think its worth seeing. I also think its funny that it was #1 for so long... but I don't think Deadpool would like that a lot. I think Deadpool would want a fair competition for #1 at least... I mean they put him up against Gods of Egypt... obviously the movie will be #1... so that might be in Deadpool 2. But yeah. Funny movie.

2) London Has Fallen- This is a spinoff/sequel to Olympus has Fallen... which was a pretty okay movie. I barely saw it... and it might have been White House Down that I saw because they came out at the same time and are the exact same movie... but White House Down has Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx who are very hot... so yeah. Seems like a fun movie. Good date night movie if you already saw Deadpool.

1) Zootopia- This movie looks great! I feel like I'll feel so old going to see it... so I may not... but I want to and I'll see it when its on TV because it looks so funny. I think its going to be like Bojack Horseman but for kids. Jason Bateman's first Disney Movie, and Ginnifer Goodwin is also in it (I thought it was Alison Brie in the trailer.) But yeah. This looks like a fun and funny movie everyone can enjoy.

iTunes Movies

5) Bridge of Spies- It seems my hypothesis was right! The Oscar movies do seem to be in the top spots here... but they aren't the only ones. This won for Best Supporting Actor... which was a real surprise because Sylvester Stallone was expected to win and he did not... but yeah. I kind of want to see this. Its a war movie I think and it just seems like an exciting one. I heard it was good. So it probably is.

4) Room- This one I'm really interested to see. Although its going to be sad. I kind of want to read the book too because its a good idea... but its sad. Brie Larson won for Best actress for this of corse. Also this and Bridge of Spies were released on October 16th, which is my birthday... so thats cool.

3) The Good Dinosaur- Family movies usually do well on iTunes. If people are going on a plane with their kids or just need a babysitter or something... The Good Dinosaur is for that. Lol. Haven't seen this yet... but its Pixar so I will!

2) Creed- Am I repeating myself because I keep saying I want to see this movie... because I also want to see this movie and the next movie too. I'm not really into sports movies and I haven't seen any of the Rocky movies... but this one is different and it looked really good. I like Michael B. Jordan a lot... he was great as a kid on The Wire... so I'm sure he's gotten better since then... and I just want to see it.

1) Spotlight- Yep. Called it! Of corse the winner for Best Picture was the #1 movie here. People want to see what the fuss is about and if it is the best movie of the year. I think it looks amazing. I'm not really one for Oscar- nominated or Oscar-winning films... but I'm trying to get there because I always want to see them and never end up seeing them. I think I've seen 12 Best Picture winners... which I go over in another post here... but yeah. This one looks good. If something like The Revenant won... I probably wouldn't care enough about seeing that... but this one I want to see.

And that's it! Hope you guys like this!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
