Scribbles About Music: Shuffle the First 6 Songs... Hamilton Edition

So I did this before... and I thought I'd do it again, but with a twist... I'm going to do my favorite album of the moment and give mini reviews on the first five songs. Since my favorite album of the moment is the soundtrack to Hamilton... I thought I'd share 5 songs from that!

1) Non-Stop- This is a great one because it kind of has a little of everyone. It has Hamilton, Aaron Burr, Eliza, Angelica a little Washington... all really great parts. This is also the last song of Act 1... so its an important one. It sets up that Hamilton has succeeded, he's become Washington's right hand man and has everything he could want... but he still wants more for the country and he is very ambitious, and that does kind of lead him to his doom... but its still better to be a Hamilton than a Burr.

2) Farmer Refuted- This song is really clever and I think its kind of an underrated one. Hamilton is arguing with a Loyalist and he's rapping while the other guy is singing and their words and syllables meet at some points... its really funny but also a great example of how amazing it was to introduce Rap, Pop and Hip Hop into a historical musical. This is also sort of based off a real thing that happened to Alexander. He wrote a response paper to a Farmer Loyalist called Farmer Refuted. Also... really funny song!

3) The Adams Administration- This is a short one that I don't have much to say about... so I'm going to do a sixth song... I like that Burr lists more of the accomplishments of Hamilton in the introduction to the song because he does keep accomplishing more. At this point he is really no longer just a Bastard, Orphan, Son of A whore. He's the Creator of the coast guard and he's done a lot of good stuff by this point... but he also kinda loses it here and doesn't play well with Jefferson... and he's not afraid to show it. Its more of a direct way of dealing with him than politicians today. Like... Chris Christie endorsing Trump... he said a lot of bad things about Trump when Christie was running for president... but Christie is no longer running in this election... so he sees Trump is a good horse to bet on... and he joins him. He could be Vice President or have some other powerful position and then one day he'll have a chance at being president one day... so he couldn't just issue a statement calling Trump a bad name (the way Hamilton did) because thats not as good of a way to be president...

I don't mean to get into politics here... I understand everyone has a different reason for who they support... but this play helped me understand a lot about modern politics and thats why I like Alexander. If we could resurrect Alexander Hamilton... he could totally run for president today!

... and that was actually a lot... lol.

4) My Shot- This is the song from Hamilton. Every show has a most iconic song... this is the one. People will sing it years from now with Defying Gravity. This is also really shows us who Alexander is, what he believes in above all else... this sounds the least show-tuney and most rappy to me. I like the Rise up thing too cause I love Washington and whenever they say "here comes the General Riseeee Up." And I like the "I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory." Great song.

5) Washington On Your Side- I've been singing this song all day. I love it. This song is just really catchy, its very pop-y but theres a ton of good rap in it too. I've been singing it to my dog going "its always nice its always nice to have a puppy by your side." Its great. So catchy and I love how angry they all get... and it shows Burr is willing to betray his friend so quickly.

6) Alexander Hamilton- This is another very iconic song... and the performance was great on the Grammy's. I was afraid of spoiling the play too much because I didn't know how many people knew Hamilton died in a duel with Aaron Burr... but Burr says in the first song that he shot Hamilton. Didn't say he killed Hamilton... but back then... pretty good assumption that if he was shot he died. Also I learned that in 4th grade... so... anyone with a 4th grade education should know that... lol.

And that is everything! Hope you guys like this!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
