Woman Crush Wednesday: Melissa McCarthy

1) She's super SUPER funny- I feel like this goes without saying... But Melissa McCarthy is one of the funniest human beings on the planet... If not the funniest dare I say it. She was amazing in bridesmaids, and although I didn't think she was the "scene stealer" that she was dubbed in that movie (only because I thought everyone was absolutely AMAZING in bridesmaids) she has been the absolute funniest person in ever in many movie roles and she is just perfect.

2) She makes unlikable roles really likable and easy to relate to- Her characters are always super odd and usually quite hard to relate to. Tammy isn't someone you would necessarily want to hang out with in real life, but I feel like Melissa McCarthy made her so likable and easy to relate to that she had a depth other actresses wouldn't have brought to her. Another great example is her character in Identity Thief. Why should we like that girl at all? She's a criminal, she steals Jason Bateman's identity. We shouldn't like her, but we do because of Melissa McCarthy.

3) She writes the roles she wants- Tammy is quite a unique and different character that I think any actress would like to play. McCarthy is great at supporting roles so it's not usually like she's always in a starring role, but she wrote her own starring role and made the movie herself. That's something pretty damn inspirational that I think both she and Mindy Kaling are great at. Such a funny role to write for oneself and that's quite inspiring that she did that. Go Melissa! Lol.

4) She's great at being the co-star and the star- One thing that is absolutely brilliant is that she can partner with just about anyone to make a great movie. Kristin Wiig, Jason Bateman, Sandra Bullock, Susan Sarandon, McCarthy had co-starred with all of these stars and they've all made a pretty great team. I think that's pretty strong to be able to work with pretty much anyone in Hollywood to make a really funny movie. I still think Tammy was more of a solo-role for McCarthy, but her scenes with Susan Sarandon were hilarious, heartwarming, and just very real overall. She was also great with Mark Duplass in this movie too even though he wasn't in it all that much. Kathy Bates also she worked well with. Just overall.

And I haven't watched too much Mike and Molly because I don't find the show to be all that funny overall... But she has some really great scenes with everyone in the cast. She's great.

5) Watcher Bloopers from the end of This is 40 because they're amazing- She is good at improv and she is dedicated. Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann are very funny people to begin with and she had them both cracking up in just one scene that she had with them and she does not break character even though she knows they'll have to redo the scene. That is a dedication to improv that is just completely phenomenal and ingenious!

Fun Fact: She even designs her own clothes- she used to study fashion and she actually designed the dress that she wore to the Emmy's the year that she won. That's pretty cool too!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
