Scribbles About Music: Ed Sheeran Divide Review

This is the cd I've been listening to kind of Non-Stop as of recently. Yep... I capitalize Non Stop now because of Hamilton apparently... we're just going to move passed that and get onto the Ed Sheeran review.

This is really good. You know how you can tell I really love it? It's not Hamilton, it's not a musical and I'm still listening to it... and I said "it's better than Joanne by Lady Gaga." GASP! It might just be because I have a massive crush on Ed Sheeran... especially after listening to this album... but yeah.

So there are lots of really sad songs on this that could make you cry. Castle on The Hill can get you kind of emotional, Happier is one I think I'd cry to on a bad day... Supermarket Flowers makes me want to cry every time listening to it and the very last song on the cd is Save Myself... which is just the kicker. I mean this in a good way... obviously I like them. It's nice to have some really emotional songs on a cd along with so many fun and sexy songs.

And there are plenty of sexier songs and romantic songs. Barcelona is what I'm listening to now... that's a fun one. Shape of you... okay let's talk about some of the lyrics to Shape of You... because it implies hooking up with a girl after eating and stealing food at an all you can eat Chinese Buffet... like what? He is my soul mate. Lol. That's the best thing ever.

I feel like there's some sort of positive body image in this because he talks a lot about eating food and drinking... and he sort of applauds a man for drinking beer and having a six pack but he also mentions eating doritos and crisps... it's kind of cool how much he mentions food. Food and Ed Sheeran are 2 of my favorite things... so that makes me happy!

There are also lots of Irish-sounding songs. Nancy Mulligan- which is about his grandparents (I think) and Gallway Girl... and then Barcelona and Bibia Be Ye Ye have a spanish vibe to them... which is cool. It's just cool that he does so much with the different sounds and everything really tells a story that way.

He's also really good at rapping and I like songs like Eraser and New Man where he sings and raps a little bit on... I think that's really cool.

And last but not least... I love how self-referential he is in the songs. Like he mentions writing a song in a lot of these songs... which just makes it seem so much more personal because you know he's writing the song... plus I like the cool meta element of sort of breaking the fourth wall in the songs like that. That's pretty cool!

So yeah. Overall... this is my current favorite album of the year I think... Maybe it's the only one I've heard that is actually from 2017 this year... but I think it will probably end up being one of my favorite albums that aren't about the life and death of Alexander Hamilton.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Only half an hour left to it... but I guess this is a pretty appropriate review for it! 111

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
