Chart Chat: 3.27.17

Alrighty! I've been waiting for the box office results to show up since yesterday! Sometimes they're released Sunday, sometimes it's Monday. This week they said on Saturday I believe that it was likely going to be another week at the top for Beauty and The Beast, despite the release of the new Power Rangers movie... but we'll see what turns out in the top spot right... now!

10) The Belko Experiment- I find myself longing for John Wick Chapter 2 right about now... this is a thriller that was from a Canadian Film Festival in 2016 that was just released last week in the box office, and it is the 2nd week on the charts. It's about people trapped in prison playing a game of "kill or be killed." To me it sounds like Saw, a little bit like The Purge... if you like those movies you might want to see this.

9) The Lego Batman Movie- I've heard this movie is really good... plus it has been on the charts for 7 weeks now! It came out around Valentine's Day and I have a feeling it'll be here till easter maybe? Maybe not, I think there are 2 other animated movies coming out around easter as well... but I bet this one will be better. It looked funny to me, I'll watch it on HBO because I feel like that's how I'll enjoy this best!

8) The Shack This has been in the top 5 the last couple of weeks that it's been out... I haven't seen it yet. I kind of want to... I might see it... but idk. It didn't get well received... but it's been in the top 10 for 4 weeks now... and in the top 5 for 3 of those weeks, so that is not too shabby! I might read the book... idk. It seems good, I've heard good things about it.

7) CHIPs- Kind of low for the 7th week on the charts... I have to say I thought it would beat Kong: Skull Island at least. Kristin Belle and Dax Shepherd star in it, and I believe Dax Shepherd wrote and directed it... so that's interesting. They were on The Chew to promote it last week... but idk. I feel like if this were out when I was in college and on Spring Break, I'd probably see it... but now I'm like "ehhh?" So if it was released a week earlier, I think it could have done better... it seems like a fun thing to see on St. Patrick's day... idk why. But it wasn't... so yeah.

6) Get Out- 5 weeks on the charts and Jordan Peele's Directorial Debut is still going strong. I feel like this will be the most talked about movie of the year... I hope it gets recognized by the award shows even though it was out too late for last years deadline and too early for this year. Thrillers don't often get recognized... but this is such a unique movie I'm sure that it will. I've talked a lot about this movie... so that's all I'll say right now!

5) Logan 4th week in the Top 5 I believe! That's pretty great... and this movie itself looked really great. It's not a typical X Men movie... it's the first R rated X Men movie... and it's almost a western I believe I've heard... so that's different. I haven't seen any of the X Men movie other than Deadpool... but I kind of want to see this, so this is one I'll look for on TV.

4) Life- Ohhh wow. This sounds kind of interesting. It's got a star studded cast, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds... and it's about a life form that destroyed all life on Mars and is now a threat to life on Earth. To me, it sounds like "The Thing" but in space... so that is kind of cool. I bet this will be good. I'll try to watch this when it's on tv. At first I was surprised it was so high in the charts because I had only just started seeing the commercials and I feel like this was probably made so that the actors could make something else... but it sounds good to me and it's getting positive responses... wouldn't be surprised if this jumps to number 3rd next week after Word of Mouth... because it seems like one of those types of movies. Like Arrival or something along those lines.

3) Kong: Skull Island-  I have to say... the plot of this movie sounds EXACTLY like the plot of the first Peter Jackson Kong Movie... but with Scientists instead of actors. I don't know if this Kong plot line follows that movie... it seems that it was. Peter Jackson recommended Guillermo del Toro to direct it... he is not the director... but that makes me think it follows that movie... might be interesting to see... The Peter Jackson one was too damn long... and I haven't really seen it... but my guess would be that the CGI probably looks dated now. Idk... maybe not, I know it must have been something people worked hard on but the finished product was just too long... and now it's been over 10 years and they're doing another... so I feel like this is just a kind of disappointing thing. And I think King Kong and Godzilla are supposed to be in a movie together... and my guess would be that won't work either... so it's all lose. Lol. Maybe it's not bad... this is its third week in the top 5... but I doubt its that great.

2) Power Rangers- This got terrible reviews... but I still kind of want to see it! I loved Power Rangers as a kid... in this one they included an LGBTQ Ranger and an Autistic Power ranger I think too... and that sounds like it could be really powerful to me. I think it'll be a good movie. Elizabeth Banks is in it... it can't be bad. I'll make a point to watch this when it's on TV.

1) Beauty and The Beast- Yes, that is rightm for the second week in a row... Beauty and The Beast takes the top spot! Deservedly so, if you ask me... it was an amazing movie. Very beautiful and a Tale as old as Time, well told... and this is Disney's best remake yet... and I think I appreciated it more than the original movie!

That is everything! Let me know if you've seen any of these movies... Am I too harsh on Kong? Should I bother with The Shack or Power Rangers? Did you love Beauty and The Beast as much as I did? Let me know!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
