Scribbles About Food: Shannon Eats Steak! Moonstruck!

So... this might seem like a big deal... but I haven't eaten steak in a really long time. My parents LOVE steak and they gave it to me so often as a kid I just got tired of it... and I've only had it a few times in the past... 15 years maybe? I've had Chicken fried steak- which is really good. My dad got a hibachi recently and made hibachi steak that I liked. My friend's fiance made some steak kabobs recently also... and I liked that... so I just kind of wanted to venture into eating steak again because I'm getting a little tired of chicken.

And there's a really good restaurant in Asbury called Moonstruck... and I thought that would be a good time to try some. My parents really love their steak- I love their food and I've realized this is a good place to try new things... so I got it... and I'll review the appetizer and dessert I had also!

Appetizer

We always pretty much order the same appetizers... this time we only ordered the one appetizer which is the Arugula, Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella salad... this is so good. The tomatoes are always so fresh and juicy. The Olive oil dressing is really nice... and the Mozzerella is delicious. All of these flavors together just taste great any time of year... but it is particularly refreshing in the summertime. It's just so great. Highly recommend!

Entree

The Filet Mignon. I'm not an expert on steak obviously... but this just tasted really flavorful and delicious. It was served with butter on top over mashed potatoes... all of the steak dishes come with Mashed Potatoes except for the Cowboy Steak- which is served with Fries and some Onion Rings. It also comes with Vegetables... which come with most of the entrees as well... and let's face it... I never really eat them. Lol.

The potatoes tasted really good too... I don't know if they had any sort of Garlic or seasoning in them... it didn't look like they did... but it sort of tasted like they did... so it might have just been a really good potato...

I really liked it all. My big problem with steak in recent years when I've tasted a piece was that there was no real flavor to it... and there's certainly a lot of flavor to this one. It was really great. I ordered it Medium Well- and it was just right. They've got it down to a science pretty much there. It's great!

This is how they plate it... deliciously. lol.

Dessert

I had the Black and White Creme Brulee... which is really delicious. It has a little bit of chocolate custard on the bottom. This Creme Brulee has kind of ruined all other creme brulee's for me. The chocolate just brings so much flavor out... the crust on top is soooo nice and yummy... it's just absolutely perfect!

Drinks
Of corse I can't forget to mention the drinks! I always get the Bikini Tini... this is just strong enough without being too strong. It kind of tastes like a pina coloada but in Martini form... it's really great! They have another martini that's the same but with a banana... I think it's the Speedo Martini... which is funny... lol. Anyway... awesome drink!

The service is always very nice and well informed also. It gets busy... but if you get there early it's pretty great!

Anyway that's pretty much it! Hope you guys like this review!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
