So I thought I'd talk a little bit about the Solar Eclipse because... I didn't end up seeing it IRL and here's why!
1) I wasn't really interested until last minute- I've seen lunar eclipses and stuff... those happen quite often... idk It just didn't seem like it was that impressive to me. I didn't know this was the only one that would happen nation-wide... and that's kind of cool... but I didn't really think I would see it... I didn't know it was a solar eclipse and that it was happening in the daytime until like the Friday before... I didn't know why people needed glasses for it and I just thought they were a gimmick type of thing... so I didn't really bother with it. I didn't really know it was rare or anything like that... and then I just figured it'd be the same as a lunar eclipse... but in the daytime. It kind of isn't. It's a little cooler than that.
2) I had no idea how to use the glasses... and I just didn't like them- I just don't like the glasses! They're like the 3D glasses that you used to be able to pick up at Wendy's or in TV Guide whenever The Drew Carey Show had a 3d episode or something like that. They're just one size- they don't really stay up or fit anything and you can't really wear your regular glasses with them. Plus I didn't really know when to put them on or take them off... there's no sign saying "put on your 3D glasses" and it was probably equally dangerous to the sun burning off your eyes if you weren't wearing them... you really CANNOT see anything from the glasses. It blocks out everything except for the light of the sun... so it's kind of not amazing for that. I think I'm a little more scared of the glasses than not wearing the glasses even.
3) It was cloudy and NJ Didn't get the full experience- When I went outside to see it... in my glasses I couldn't see anything in... I took them off to look for the sun... couldn't find it. There were clouds everywhere. Jersey also didn't really get the experience because it never got dark...which is what I was most excited about... so that sucked.
4) I knew I'd be able to see it better on TV- It's one of those things where I really wanted the experience of being there... but at the same time- I know I'd be able to see it better on TV and that the youtubers I watch would do better videos of it still... so that's kind of why I wasn't all that excited. It was really exciting watching the Eclipse in Carbondale, Illinois because it was so cloudy it didn't look like they'd be able to see anything... but they were viewing it in a huge stadium and everyone was so excited and it looked so sad when it didn't look like they'd be able to see it... and they did end up kind of seeing it. Justin Scarred, Adam The Woo and Tim Tracker all did good videos about it... my friend Georgie got a good picture... I knew I'd be able to see it better from other people.
There was a Meteor Shower a week ago or so that 2 ago that I was a little more excited about... and I missed it... so I'm a little more bummed about that... but I'll see another one sometime hopefully. Or I'll look it up on youtube... lol.
