Throwback Thursday: Gossip Girl Season 1

So even though I did a Throwback Thursday of the Gossip Girl Pilot compared to Riverdale... I thought that I would do a review on the whole season because I just finished watching it for the second time... and I have some more feelings... so here it goes!

First off, I already mentioned some things that I didn't like in my last throwback thursday but I wanted to talk about one other thing... slut shaming. That was like a huge plot point for the main characters in this show with Serena and especially with Blair. They show Blair fall from being Queen B because she slept with Chuck and then with Nate... but Chuck sleeps with everyone and he doesn't get in trouble at all. And the way Chuck says she's no longer attractive now that she isn't a virgin is just kind of terrible. It just reflects the misogyny of the time and I'm going to compare it to Riverdale again... where the times have changed because time's up on this crap lol. I mentioned in my Riverdale post the episode where Veronica and Betty take action against the football players slut shaming them. It's just approached a lot differently on Riverdale... which is interesting to compare to.

Alright other things I kind of don't like... it seems like when the guys cheat on the women... it's not that big of a deal... but when a girl does it everyone gets very offended. Like towards the end of the first season Dan broke up with Serena because she lied about cheating on him... but Dan also cheated on Serena with Georgina... and Serena wasn't quite as upset... and everyone was still saying "You need to apologize to Dan" when Serena really didn't.

Also side note... DAN WAS GOSSIP GIRL THE WHOLE TIME! He should have known about Georgina the whole time so why the hell didn't he just TRUST his girlfriend. Ugh. It makes me so mad... but I still kind of love Dan and Serena. Even though I kind of hate Dan.

Anyway... other than that... the show kind of had me hooked. I kind of like all the spoiled rich characters even though they seem like such bad people... they do kind of have a strong friendship. And in the end they all come together to help Serena... and that isn't nothing. So I kind of liked seeing that.

I also like how they show New York... I think they did a good job actually showing the city... more in a positive light than a negative light. And New York does act as kind of a character- as it does in a lot of shows... so I think that is pretty cool. There's even a Gossip Girl Tour that you could take in New York... so that's kind of cool.

Overall... I was hooked... it is kind of a guilty pleasure- but I am on Season 2 right now and I'm liking it a lot. I think Season 1 is the only entire season of Gossip Girl that I've seen... I did watch some of one season when it was on TV... but idk what season it was... I'll find out soon enough lol. I think Nate and Blair were back together? It was whenever Brittany Snow guest starred as young Lilly for a spinoff pilot that never got picked up... okay so it was Season 2 at the end that I saw. I didn't see Season 3 though!

Anyway... I think that is everything. I hope you guys like this post! I'll try to do more... but idk how long it'll take me to finish the other seasons... I think the last season is only 10 episodes... but everything else is kind of long... it's good though! I'll be done soon enough!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
