10 Sick Day Essentials (1.27.18)

Sooo... here are some things I would recommend doing/using/ eating/ drinking when you're not feeling your best.

1. Vicks Vapo Rub- Oooo my goodness... Vicks. This is just kind of amazing. I put it on and immediately I felt my sinuses clearing a little bit from the smell... it was just very nice and I just like using it. If you have headaches or migraines... this is probably also helpful! I like using it and taking a hot shower... it's just really nice!

2. Baths/Showers- This was the most fun thing I could do most of the time when I was sick... so I took advantage of that and took a few baths. I think if you take a hot shower- its supposed to feel good for sinuses/sore throats... but I didn't really feel like standing... so I liked baths... it was just kind of nice to sit in there. It felt nice and warm... which was good because I had chills... it was just really nice.

3. Blankets- You need some sleep. Make sure to be nice and warm with some blankets! My favorite are the sherpa blankets from Costco!

4. Netflix- Netflix is a must! This week I ended up watching Black Mirror... not the best thing to watch while sick...but still pretty interesting... and I watched Arrested Development... which is my favorite show of all time... so I had some good times with Netflix this week!

5. Youtube- I didn't feel that good for most of the week... but when I did and I wasn't on Netflix... I watched what I could of youtube... and that included Shane Dawson's Ghost Hunting Videos... which was just pretty cool.

6. Crackers- Crackers are really good when you're sick. On Tuesday that's pretty much all I had to eat... I would have some crackers and then water and then I would take my advil. I think that helped me from getting dehydrated.

7. Ginger Ale- So water is important... but on Wednesday... Ginger Ale ended up working better for me than Water... so I drank a lot of Ginger Ale... it was delicious. I really liked it.

8. Medicine- Medicine always helps. I used Ibuprofen and the generic Wallgreens version of Sudafed for the most part... but whatever medicine you need... use the medicine.

9. Cinnamon Toast- This is delicious when you're sick and feeling a little better. This was what I had for dinner on Wednesday... so good.

10. Sleep- Did I mention sleep? I had trouble sleeping at night for the most part this week because I had been sleeping all day... but sleep is still very important and I was happy to get a full night of sleep last night with the medicine I took. I just think it helps.

Byeee! Hope this was helpful! Wash your hands!
-Shannon.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
