Scribbles About Food: Azalea (New York)

My second review for my Gaga Weekend… which wasn’t really a weekend- but it was the same amount of time as a weekend… so we can call it a weekend lol.

As much as we liked the food at the hotel, we thought we would venture out a little and ask the Concierge for a place to get lunch. He recommended this place and Junior’s. I’ve been to Junior’s before Once for Brunch and once for dinner… I think I liked the dinner… didn’t love the breakfast and we were kind of looking for breakfast food… which isn’t what we got at Azalea because they don’t have a breakfast menu… so that’s okay.

Azalea has a great location- right next to the Girshwin theater… which if you didn’t know is where Wicked is playing! So if you have Wicked tickets, this is a good option for dining. When I saw Wicked, I went with my 8th grade class and we ate at Mars 2112… which is fun- but it’s not really something you want to go to as a grown up…lol. The food was okay there… the experience was fun… but it’s not somewhere you want to go if you’re a little older. Maybe it is… idk this would be a better place to go for a date.

They had a prefix lunch menu… which was awesome. You could get an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. And they had a good amount of choices on the lunch menu for each category. I forget all the options…Once I saw Caprese Salad, Chicken Parm and Gelato… I knew what I wanted.

So the caprese! The mozzarella was really nice… it wasn’t warm like it had just been made but it was good. The tomatoes were really good too. It came with a little bit of some kind of oil on it and balsamic on the side… which I just kind of dumped on because I’m not great with pouring balsamic lol. It was nice.

Next up the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm… it was really good. I feel like that’s my description of everything. It isn’t the best chicken parm you’ll find in New York… but it was still good. The sauce was really good… usually I don’t like a lot of tomato sauce… I’ve been liking it more and more lately- and this was good. It was kind of a thicker tomato sauce and there was a good amount of mozzarella on. Plus the chicken was fried really nice too… so that was good!

And the Gelato… this was pretty darn amazing! They had Vanilla, Chocolate and Hazelnut… they also had sorbets… but I love a good gelato. The Hazelnut flavor was really great- there were no chunks of hazelnut in it… which I also really liked. I’m not a big fan of having nuts in my ice cream because they can get a little soggy and taste… not as good. The Gelato tasted a little more like Ice Cream than gelato… I guess it was creamy… but it wasn’t so creamy that I got the Gelato feel. That might be better for kids or anyone that doesn’t want something too different. I don’t know.

Ohhh the best part of the lunch menu? It was only $26! It’s a lot of food for the price and it’ll fill you up! So if you’re going to see Wicked and you want a lunch that will fill you up- but not to the point where you’re over full… this is great. If you want something a little fancier than any of the themed dining options for kids that you’ll find in Times Square- this is great. It looked like there were maybe some business lunches going on. It’s not the fanciest restaurant you could go to- but it’s still a good option! It was great for us and it was really yummy!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
