Scribbles About Music: Joanne by Lady Gaga

After Lady Gaga's last cd... I was a little bit underwhelmed. I was hoping this one would be a lot better or at least a little bit better... lol. And I was really impressed with this! It was a little different for Gaga. It still had the sexy-edginess that Gaga is known for... but its more of a chill cd that you can have in the background while doing just about anything... its good blogging music basically. I like having it on in the background when I write for blogs and that's kind of how I've been listening too it. It works and I like it a lot!

So I think my favorite song is the one with Florence from Florence and the Machines in it... I wasn't really expecting their voices to work so well together. Florence has a very distinct and unique voice and style. Gaga went a little in that direction with this album.

I also kinda like when she does songs that are almost a country songs. John Wayne is a good example of that, Grigio girls... I think what I loved about Born This Way so much was that she sort of played with genres and back then she was really into doing different characters in her music... and I get that a lot from all the songs here too. There are some where she's going through a bad breakup, some where she's reflecting on people and things. I feel like this is a very "girl power" cd. A lot of the songs are about women that have had an influence on Gaga it seems... and I mean even the title being Joanne... that tells a lot about this cd.

Another song I like a lot is Dancin' in Circles... that feels very "The Fame Monster" Gaga... but its a little more grown up I guess. It's catchy. A Sinner's Prayer is good... A Million Reasons is so heartbreaking and true that its really good... I feel like my favorite song will interchange a lot with these.

I don't think this is my favorite Gaga cd... but I think she did a great job with it. Its really different from her past cds... but it isn't really missing anything. I thought Pop Art was a little bit too dancey and it was just too much... but this is like just enough. I feel like Born This Way will probably always be my favorite... but I really do love this!

Hope you guys liked this review!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
